This October 2022 empties review is like attack of the minis! Nearly everything is a deluxe sample or a packet, to round me out at 21 empties for the month. Sometimes it goes that way! While it may seem like I am hitting off the third quarter strongly, I know that I am working into larger packages, which take more time. I already know that I cannot deplete my stockpile of body wash, moisturizer, or face wash, but I can only keep on trucking. Like always, I will give you the details on each item and state if I will buy again.

October 2022 Empties

Skincare

First in this October 2022 empties review is six skincare products.

  • Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser: This is a basic face wash, but it does not contain dye or fragrance. I cannot say anything else special beyond that. I have no reason to repurchase.
  • elf Oil Control Liquid Lotion: I do talk about this item in my oil control skincare routine. It does help to reduce oil production on its own, and is even better when paired in a routine. However, after using this entire tube up, I will say that my opinion has changed. It does not layer well with makeup and skincare products on the daily basis. I found myself using this on no makeup days and really wishing for it to be gone. This is a no rebuy!
  • Bliss Makeup Melt Dry Wet Gentle Jelly Cleanser: I am on the journey of trying makeup removing cleansers, and elf is still my favorite thus far. This one states on the bottle that it is not for waterproof makeup, and they are right. It does not have an oil-based formula, so it does wash your makeup off, but not waterproof stuff. In general, I still see makeup residue on my face when I take a shower, so this is not getting it ALL off like elf does. Someone who wears very little makeup will probably appreciate this, but I will not repurchase.
  • Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense Face Serum Sunscreen: This facial sunscreen does not clog pores or leave a white cast. It does feel like applying a serum or a moisturizer, as it sinks into the skin and feels nice. It layers well with makeup and skincare. As a combination skin woman, this does not make me more or less oily. I do plan on repurchasing once I use up my other sunscreen.
  • Bliss Drench & Quench Cream-to-Water Hydrator: This is the type of moisturizer formula that I recommend for oily or combo skin! Since it does go cream to water, it can be hard to pick up with your finger. I recommend a makeup spatula, or the back of your nail. This layers great with other skincare and makeup. It does control most of my oil production, while hydrating all day. I will say that my favorite moisturizers do a tad bit better with the oil control, so it does not beat them fully enough for a rebuy.
  • wet n wild Care Bears Make It Sweet Lip Scrub: This scrub was rather small, but effective. I have complained in the past that wet n wild’s stick lip scrubs have too much filler and not enough exfoliant, but that issue is corrected here. This gives me a nice exfoliation that is gentle enough. It is limited edition as a part of the wet n wild Care Bears collection.

Sunday Riley Packets

I also have six Sunday Riley sample packets to explore.

  • Ice Ceramide Moisturizing Cream: This is a perfectly good moisturizer that sinks into the skin, hydrates all day, and layers well with makeup and skincare. Cream formulas do not help me with oil control, so I will not seek the full size.
  • Ceramic Slip Cleanser: I review this cleanser all the time it seems! It gets the job done effectively. There is more in my stash.
  • A+ High-Dose Retinoid Serum: This is a product that I use every other day permanently in my routine because it helps to treat my acne and blemishes with results that I can see.
  • Auto Correct Brightening and Depuffing Eye Contour Cream: This is one of my favorite eye creams because it not just hydrates the under eye area, but it brightens. It has a pearly white look when dispensed, and I believe that it reflects light back for an instantly awake look. This is good on its own or under makeup. I do not make a habit of buying eye cream, but I am working on a larger sample currently.
  • Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment: This is another item that I keep on hand in my permanent routine, as it also helps to treat my acne and keep my complexion smooth. Again, it delivers real and visible results.
  • Light Hearted Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sun Screen: There is something about the smell of this sunscreen that I do not like. It is not the typical scent that you expect. Otherwise, there is not much white cast to speak of. It layers well with everything and does not clog my pores or make me oily. I would rather rebuy a cheaper sunscreen that also gets the job done.

Haircare

Second for October 2022 empties is three haircare items.

  • Pantene Sunlit Blondie Intensive Quenching Shots: These conditioner shots are white, so they do not provide any toning effects. They leave my hair feeling like I used a basic conditioner, and I do not see any effects. The box said these are good for highlighted hair, but I see no reason to buy again.
  • Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo: This dry shampoo gets the job done fine. I do get some white residue with this one, and I brush it out. Ultimately, there is nothing special about it that warrants a repurchase.
  • Philip B Peppermint Avocado Shampoo: This is a peppermint shampoo with a gel formula that really acts like a clarifying shampoo. It gets your hair washed, but of course you will want a conditioner. After washing this out, the cooling sensation hits you, and this feeling intensified and lasted for around 30 minutes after use. I have no plans to buy again, as I need something with more moisture.

Body Care

Third are three body care items.

  • Physicians Formula Rose Take The Germs Away Hand Sanitizer: This is a hand sanitizer spray that came in a PF set. It has the usual rose scent, but you cannot buy it on its own. We can only hope that the sanitizer is working effectively!
  • Physicians Formula Butter Believe I’m Keeping It Safe Hand Sanitizer: I have the same thoughts here as I do on the above. Yes, this has the murumuru butter scent.
  • Raw Sugar Simply Body Wash Pineapple + Maqui Berry + Coconut: This body wash is creamy and gets the job done effectively. I appreciate that the key notes are berry and coconut, which give it a scent that is not overdone on the market today. I have no plans to buy again.

Makeup

Fourth is two makeup empties.

  • Physicians Formula Butter Blow Out Mascara: This mascara has a dryer formula, so I find it harder to work with versus something more wet. It gives some length and volume, but I would like to see more. The dryness also makes separation more of an issue. This is definitely not a favorite and I am glad to be done with it.
  • Hard Candy Sheer Envy Hydrating Primer: This primer does a great job of hydrating the skin and giving you a smooth canvas for makeup application. It does not extend the wear time of makeup, which is the only reason I do not care to repurchase it.

Fragrance

Last for this October 2022 empties review is one fragrance product.

  • Body Fantasies Twilight Mist Body Spray: This is a classic scent from Body Fantasies. It was never my favorite, but there is nothing wrong with it. It includes notes of orchid, violet, and mandarin. There is no reason for me to repurchase.

Conclusion

In summary of this October 2022 empties review, the numbers are really padded with the Sunday Riley samples. I am glad that a body wash, moisturizer, and face wash made it in the lineup, because those are the items that I am super backed up on. As we head into 2023, I can tell that my stockpile will still be backed up with products that I bought one year ago. I am still on a body spray no buy for an indefinite period of time. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

How are you doing with your empties goals in the last quarter of the year?
