The year 2022 is off to a smashing start, with the first quarter bringing us just as many empty items as there are days. I am ending this March 2022 empties review with 31 items. My unofficial goal is to have as many as there are days in a month, but ultimately whatever goes, will go. I have ripped through the remainder of foil-packet masks, and several long-term makeup items are done. March feels like such an accomplishment, and I am excited to share detailed reviews on everything. You have to see the Maybelline pan coming up – I feel like such an Instagramer!

March 2022 Empties Review

Skincare

I am starting this march 2022 empties review with 17 skincare items.

  • Freeman Protective Ceramides Clay Face Mask: I have tested plenty of Freeman clay masks in my day, and this is not their clay formula. This is a white cream that does not dry down. It has a nice scent that I cannot describe, which I suppose is the ceramides. I do not see anything different about my skin to buy again.
  • Freeman Clearing Sweet Tea + Lemon Peel-Off Clay Mask: This is a somewhat painful mask to remove. It does not do much for me personally to warrant a repurchase.
  • Freeman Renewing Cucumber Peel-Off Gel Mask: This is not a painful mask to remove and it is lightly moisturizing. I have tried this so many times and it does not wow me enough to go out and buy it special.
  • Freeman Pore Cleansing Volcanic Ash Peel-Off Gel Mask: This is not a painful mask to remove, and I like it for acne. However, I am not a personal fan of peel-offs, so I would repurchase this if it was a clay.
  • Freeman Deep Cleansing Charcoal + Black Sugar Mud Mask: This is my favorite charcoal mud mask! I do keep it on hand, and I find that it works for acne and blemishes. I will definitely repurchase.
  • Freeman Exfoliating Apple Cider + Vinegar Clay Mask + Scrub: I really enjoy the natural apple scent of this clay mask, plus is does a great job of exfoliating on removal. The only reason I would not buy again is that I prefer chemical over physical exfoliants, but it does work and is on my radar.
  • Freeman Cleansing Pomegranate Peel-Off Gel Mask: This is a somewhat painful mask to remove. I never see it doing anything for me. There is no reason to buy again.
  • Freeman Hydrating Glacier Water + Pink Peony Gel Cream Mask: I prefer to use this mask as a wash-off rather than overnight, but it still hydrates the skin well. The scent does irritate my eyes a bit. Overall, there is so special reason to buy again.
  • Wishful Honey Whip Peptide Moisturizer: I really like the honey smell of this moisturizer! It absorbs right into the skin and hydrates all day. Also, it is lightweight. It does nothing to control oil production, and actually makes me more oily. I will not repurchase.
  • Biore Blue Agave + Baking Soda Micellar Cleansing Water: This micellar water is oil free and does a good job of cleansing the skin. It does not irritate my eyes or dry out the skin. This is not unique enough to buy again.
  • Freeman Brightening Vitamin C Peel-Off Face Mask: Does it bring you joy when a Vitamin C product smells like citrus? This mask sure does! It is not painful to remove and gives a slight glow to the skin. I have no reason to buy again.
  • Freeman Restorative Peptides Clay Face Mask: This mask definitely has a clay formula, unlike the ceramides mask. I cannot prove that it is enhancing the barrier of my skin, so there is no particular reason to buy again.
  • Loreal Revitalift 1.5% Pure Hylauronic Acid: A foil packet sample does not tell me a ton about a skincare product, but I find that all hyaluronic acid serums do a great job of retaining moisture all day. This one does not do the best job at controlling oil production like 100% pure hyaluronic acid will. I would not buy the full-size because I do want a 100% concentration.
  • No 7 Restore & Renew Multi Action Eye Cream: This eye cream will give you some slight hydration, but otherwise I see nothing happening. I will not repurchase.
  • elf Charcoal Hydrogel Under Eye Masks: These masks do stay on the face easily. I get a light level of hydration, but I do not see much in the way of brightening or de-puffing. I have no plans to buy again, but sometimes I do if I find them on sale.
  • Sukin Original Hydrating Mist Toner: I love a spray bottle toner, and this one provides a light level of moisturization to prep your skin for skincare and even makeup. There is no particular reason to buy again.
  • elf Cookies ‘n Dreams Cookie Crumble Lip Exfoliator: This lipstick-style lip exfoliator is elf’s softer formula, meaning it melts down quickly and will not last long. It took me about a month to use this up. While it is not expensive, I prefer their stiffer formula that will last me months. The Cookies ‘n Dreams flavor is great, and this product absolutely works. I can recommend it, but I own too many scrubs to buy again, especially when their Brown Sugar scrub is my ride-or-die.

Makeup

Second for this March 2022 empties review is six makeup items.

  • Fenty Beauty Flyliner in Cuz I’m Black: This is a felt tip eyeliner, but the tip goes weak pretty early on. For this being a sample, they usually last longer in general. I am including this liner in my empties because it is too difficult to apply as it dries out. If I press it hard on my hand, I can still get a line, but that would be a mess on the eye. For a drugstore dupe that will last you a long time, definitely try Maybelline’s Master Precise All Day Liquid Eyeliner. Needless to say, I will not waste my money on a full-size.
  • YSL Bare Look Tint in Shade 2: This came in a four shade sampler, but I hated this product, so I am donating the other three shades rather than try to use it up. This product sits on top of the skin and looks heavy and patchy. I even mixed it in with a foundation that can take a beating, and I could see it affected the results. There is no way that I would buy this.
  • tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Highlighter in Stunner: It has been years in the making to use up this highlighter, but finally the day is here! Stunner is an amazing highlighter shade for fair skin, plus it is appropriate for daily use. You can build it up to a blinding glow, which I crave. I wore this in plenty of outfit blog posts over the past two years, and you can see it shining in the sun like no other. This formula glides right on without emphasizing much texture. I am not buying again because I have this shade in a palette.
  • Milani Eyeshadow Primer in Nude: You never get to fully use up an eyeshadow primer 100%, as some of it dries up. But, this had a great run. I do feature this primer in my blog post on the best eyeshadow primers because it hits all the bullet points on my list. It creates a great base, and it prevents fading, creasing, smudging, and movement all day long. At this point I own too many primers to use up, hence I will not repurchase yet.
  • Laura Geller Prep-n-Go Lip Scrub and Tint Duo in First Place: I used up the lip scrub long before the tinted lip oil. The scrub has that typical soft formula that melts away quickly, but it does work effectively. The lip oil gives a nice mauve tint, but the smell is like an old and cheap lipstick. I did use the lip oil as a lip balm, and my lips definitely suffered dryness. I know that is me using it outside of what it is meant to do, but I am not impressed by this duo enough to buy again.
  • Maybelline Master Camo Color Correcting Kit in Light: This palette might be a flashback for you! I bought it when it was first released many years ago, used it a bit, then stopped. After that, I tried hard to pan it, and used up each concealer expect for the last highlighter, then stopped using it again. I considered throwing it away, saying I got my monies worth, but I needed that satisfaction of seeing six empty pans. Concealer palettes are not my thing, and this is so-so. I used everything under my makeup just to empty the palette. The shimmer highlight is sheer, as is the colored concealers. The green does ok for color correcting. Overall, there is better stuff out there, even with this creamy formula that can be applied with a brush. I am not repurchasing.

Haircare

Third is four haircare items.

  • Palmer’s Cocoa Butter & Biotin Length Retention 2 Step Hair Mask: This deep conditioner treatment makes the hair smell so good and leaves it feeling like you used a treatment. It does not change much else about my hair, especially in comparison to some others that I love. I will not buy this again.
  • Ouai Leave-In Conditioner: This is a leave-in conditioner spray, but the nozzle does a decent job of putting the product out in a non-spitting way. I prefer to use a wide-tooth comb to ensure that the product is evenly distributed. I ended up hating this only because it does nothing for my frizz. But, that proves that my anti-frizz cream is working! To use this product up I combined it with anti-frizz cream. If you have normal hair, this will be fine for you. I will not buy the full-size.
  • Hair Food Coconut Dry Shampoo: Sometimes this dry shampoo leaves white residue, but rarely. I think that is me holding it too close or being heavy-handed. The scent is nice, but it still leaves my hair somewhat oily looking. There are so many better options out there, so I will not buy again.
  • Ouai Hair Oil: My holy grail, ride-or-die hair oil is the Rose Gold version from Ouai. This one does not take all the frizz away. My hair looks ok for a short period of time, then it is as if the oil got absorbed and it looks like I need to apply more. I mixed this with Rose Gold to help use it up, but no I would not buy this again.

Fragrance

Fourth is one fragrance empty.

Bodycare

Fifth in this March 2022 empties review is two body care items.

  • Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier in Golden Cherry: For the most part this drink mix dissolves, but some will settle to the bottom, and otherwise make your water cloudy. The flavor is not chalky, but it is like a hint of cherry with something else. I cannot prove that it is hydrating my body differently. I have no plans to repurchase.
  • Soap & Glory Heel Genius: Another holy-grail, I swear by this foot cream. I suffer from dry feet all year around, and this cream eliminates it, even when I let my feet get bad. I pretty much do not even have to do my pedicure routine anymore, unless the dry skin is super bad. Yes, I will always repurchase this and I have two more tubes.

Nails

I am ending this March 2022 empties review with one lonely, and rare, nail product.

  • Cutex Hydrating Cuticle Oil: I have to be honest, I have never tried a cuticle oil that has failed to work. Oil is oil, and anything will keep your nails hydrated. While I can recommend this to you, I typically buy whatever I find on sale. I am not partial to any particular brand.

Conclusion

In conclusion of my March 2022 empties review, the entire year is off to a great start after the momentum was set in January. Moving forward I am working on squeeze tube masks. Those take longer to use, so I fully expect a reduced number of empties in the second quarter of 2022, as masks play a huge role. I am still on track to use up all small bottles of body spray this year! As to be expected, body wash, face wash, and moisturizer is moving slow due to product size, and my stockpile is overwhelmed. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

Now that quarter one is finished, are you meeting your empties goals?
