Over the years I have discovered a total of five eyeshadow primers that meet my long lasting eyeshadow primer strict requirements. The good news is that three are drugstore, and two are high-end. The best eyeshadow primer is one that prevents fading, creasing, movement, and controls oils for as long as your makeup is on your face, period.
Drugstore
- Milani Eyeshadow Primer: If you have been wondering if this stuff actually works, it sure does!
- Covergirl Lid Lock Up: You never hear anything about this primer, which is a shame! I have been using it for months and it is the real deal, even for special occasion makeup. This is a hidden drugstore gem.
- wet n wild megalast Eyeshadow Primer: This is 100% a dupe for Urban Decay’s Primer Potion, hands down. I have been using it since the day that it was released many years ago and I will always go back to it.
High-End
- Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: This is another OG long lasting eyeshadow primer that will always be in my collection and I will keep going back to. I love that you can either squeeze the product out of the tube, or apply it with the doefoot, your choice.
- Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer: When do you ever hear about this eyeshadow primer? Go try it for yourself and thank me later!

These will never steer you wrong, and I stand by this statement. Now, there are so many other eyeshadow primers on the market to try as well. If I’m in a rush, I sometimes use concealer as my eyeshadow base/primer but it just doesn’t work out as nice as a real eyeshadow primer! I can’t live without the Urban Decay one, I have been using that one for years! I recently tried the Lorac primer and I really like that one as well. I’ve heard great things about the Milani one so I want to try that one in the future for sure!

Urban Decay’s is such the OG! Even though wet n wild is a $5 dupe I can’t help but drop the cash on Primer Potion. I hope you discover a new favorite out of this list!
