You probably notice that beauty gurus rarely use eyeshadow primer anymore. Instead, they opt for priming the lids with concealer. While concealer is not a bad choice if you plan on wearing your makeup for a few hours, it is not meant for all-day wear. I never prime my lids with concealer, rather, I only use a long lasting eyeshadow primer.
When it comes to an eyeshadow primer, I am super picky. So much so that I detest trying a new eyeshadow primer in fear that I must endure a day of bad eyeshadow if it does not work out. In my opinion, the best eyeshadow primer is one that prevents fading, creasing, movement, and controls oils for as long as your makeup is on your face, period.
Over the years I have discovered a total of five eyeshadow primers that meet my strict requirements. The good news is that three are drugstore, and two are high-end. I highly recommend and stand by each of the primers described in this post. I know that I can confidently wear them to a special event, or just to the office on a daily basis. These primers will never do you dirty! Time to reveal the primers.
Long Lasting Eyeshadow Primer
Drugstore
Here are my three drugstore long lasting eyeshadow primer picks.
- Milani Eyeshadow Primer: If you have been wondering if this stuff actually works, it sure does!
- Covergirl Lid Lock Up: You never hear anything about this primer, which is a shame! I have been using it for months and it is the real deal, even for special occasion makeup. This is a hidden drugstore gem.
- wet n wild photofocus Eyeshadow Primer: This is 100% a dupe for Urban Decay’s Primer Potion, hands down. I have been using it since the day that it was released many years ago and I will always go back to it.

High-end
Next are my two high-end long lasting eyeshadow primer selections.
- Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: This is another OG that will always be in my collection and I will keep going back to. I love that you can either squeeze the product out of the tube, or apply it with the doefoot, your choice.
- Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer: When do you ever hear about this eyeshadow primer? Go try it for yourself and thank me later!

Conclusion
In summary of this list of long lasting eyeshadow primer, you will definitely be walking away with a primer to add to your collection that you will trust with all your heart! This post is excellent for someone who is looking for a sure fire eyeshadow primer, but does not want to test the waters themselves and end up with some crazy eye makeup for a day. These will never steer you wrong, and I stand by this statement. Now, there are so many other eyeshadow primers on the market to try as well. If there are any that you recommend and/or want me to test out, please let me know in the comments! Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

If I’m in a rush, I sometimes use concealer as my eyeshadow base/primer but it just doesn’t work out as nice as a real eyeshadow primer! I can’t live without the Urban Decay one, I have been using that one for years! I recently tried the Lorac primer and I really like that one as well. I’ve heard great things about the Milani one so I want to try that one in the future for sure!

Urban Decay’s is such the OG! Even though wet n wild is a $5 dupe I can’t help but drop the cash on Primer Potion. I hope you discover a new favorite out of this list!
