In this October 2023 empties review I have 11 items, which has been a more productive month as of late. Gaining some samples recently has helped with the numbers. I never cease to be amazed how long it takes to fully use a beauty product up, even if it is a smaller size. This year has been dedicated to working on products that take time. In this review I have two amazing makeup products and some top skincare. You might be surprised by the fails and supserstars!
Skincare
I am starting my October 2023 empties review with eight skincare items:
- Patchology Moodmask Just Let it Glow Healthy Glow Sheet Mask: This mask fits well on the face and stays on, plus it has the right amount of serum. As with most sheet masks, I find that it leaves the skin hydrated and with a healthy glow. There is nothing exceptional to cause me to buy it again.
- wet n wild Alice in Wonderland A Pack of Cards Makeup Remover Towelettes: These makeup remover wipes are incredibly thin and dry – you can easily rip them! I had to wet them with micellar water, and they leave pleanty of makeup behind. I absolutely hated using them and I would not buy them again. You can see the full collection in my wet n wild Alice in Wonderland review.
- Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water with Vitamin C: This is my second favorite micellar water, and this small bottle is a repurchase for traveling purposes! It leaves your skin with a healthy, natural glow, all while effectiely cleasning and leaving a light layer of hydration. I will repurchase!
- Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal SnapMASK Stick: I usually find that the Yes To Tomatoes line does a good job with acne, but I am on the fence with this one. I like to wash my masks off in the shower, and I noticed this one was staining my tub black! Use caution with this one, as it was hard to get the tub clean. I had a better go with the sink. I would not buy it again.
- elf Blemish Breakthrough Acne Calming Water Cream: This is a moisturizer, and I do think that it helps with acne, especially when used with the entire Blemish Breakthrough line. It provides lasing moisture all day, layers well with skincare and makeup, but it will not limit oil production. I might repurchase it once I use up my moisturizers, but I do have an elf one that I like better, sans the acne part. You can read the full details in my elf Blemish Breakthrough review.
- Miami Beach Bum The Facial in a Jar Face Cream: This moisturizer does give you the Miami vibe with its summer-like scent that reminds me of the beach and sunscreen. It can give you a nice dewy look, and it hydrates all day. It does not control oil production. There is no reason for me to repurchase it.
- Sand & Sky Australian Emu Apple Super Bounce Back Mask: There was not enough product in this tiny tube to effectively test the mask and give a review. I did not like the foil tube packaging. This mask does not dry down. I got about two uses out of it, but I do not feel the urge to try to the full size.
- Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser: I have reviewed this face wash many times over! It is very gentle and calming, yet effective. While it does not contain acne fighting medicine, it still works in an anti-acne routine. I can turn back to it when testing new face washes breaks me out, and it fixes me up. I usually repurchase it within their acne kit.
Haircare
Second for this October 2023 empties review is one haircare item, the Virtue Restorative Treatment Mask. This conditioner mask left my hair feeling dry and tangly, with little to no mask benefits. I was excited to use it up, and I will not buy it again. It could be that it simply does not work with my hair, but you might like it better.
Beauty
Last are two beauty items.
- MAC Fix+ Compassion Setting Spray: This small pink bottle called “Compassion” was limited edition, however, you can buy Fix+ anytime. I do have a full size bottle because I believe this setting spray does extend makeup wear time! Besides that, it does set your look and melt everything together well. It is the OG fan favorite for a reason and absolute holy grail.
- wet n wild Breakup Proof Skinny Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner: I used this eyeliner up simply by reaching for it all year long since its release in Janaury 2023 – I did not have to “try” to empty it! It is that good, and I have already started my second liner. The tiny tip gives the best precision, and the formula holds up with a matte black finish. This is my go to for special occasions and date night. This year I have been loving doing a simple cat eye flick at the corner of my eye and nothing more, and this product is perfect for it. You need this liner!
Conclusion
In conclusion of this October 2023 empties review, I am highly excited to share some top brands with you! The makeup finds here are absolute must-haves that I keep in my backup collection. While there are a few duds, you can see one of my favorite micellar waters and a trusty face wash. It has been a rough year working on hard to use up items. It took me several years to get to this challenging point of ripping through fast items and reducing my stockpile. Getting the most of my money has been so worth it! Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
