This January 2023 empties review kicks the year off in an unusual way. I have been writing these blog posts for years, and this is the first time that I can say the entire post is skincare, with only one haircare item, totaling 17 empties. I am finding a way to organize everything so that the reviews make the most sense for you. These reviews cover popular brands and you need to read them before you buy. As I always do, I will let you know if anything seriously compels me to buy again.

January 2023 Empties Review

Masque Bar Masks

I am starting off this January 2023 empties review with several Masque Bar masks that came in a set. You can see the full set in my after Christmas haul 2022.

  • Charcoal Self Heating Mud Mask: The texture of mud masks are normally thick like a clay that dries down. This product is very runny! I recommend NOT applying it on your upper lip, because it will run into your mouth. I can barely feel any self heating effects. I did not see anything happen and I will not repurchase.
  • Candy Cane Cream Mask: This “cream” mask has a mud or clay-like formula that dries down. It seems that this brand has mud and cream confused. The peppermint aspect feels nice on the skin. I did not see any changes with my pores, so there is no reason to repurchase.
  • Gingerbread Cookie Cream Mask: This does not smell like gingerbread, nor can I say that it firms the skin. It may provide a slight healthy glow to the skin, but there is no reason to buy it again.
  • Spiced Egg Nog Cream Mask: I really did not like the smell at all, but this one does a good job of hydrating the skin. I think this mask is the most worth it out of the lineup.

Bliss Skincare

Second in January 2023 empties are several Bliss Skincare products, which can all be found in gift sets that I feature in what I got for Christmas 2022.

  • Incredi-Peel 10% Glycolic Acid Spa-Strength Resurfacing Peel (2): This type of product works really well as a chemical exfoliator to help with acne and blemishes. You might feel a bit of a sting or burn when using this product, which is normal, but you should not continue use if it is not tolerable. This product should be used two to three times per week. I will not repurchase only because I already use a chemical exfoliant.
  • Spa-to-Go Pore Refining 10-Minute Volcanic Sand Facial: This product does nothing for my pores, but the fine grit does give an exfoliation when you wash it off. I will not buy it again.
  • The Detoxifier Holographic Foil Sheet Mask: This sheet mask fits the face really well, but I cannot prove that it is detoxifying to warrant a repurchase.
  • Jelly Glow Peel Gentle Exfoliator: This is one of my favorite physical exfoliants, even though I prefer chemical. As the name indicates, it is gentle and pills up as a means to exfoliate the face. I have two more tubes and I genuinely would repurchase.

Other Skincare

Third, I am covering seven other skincare items.

  • elf Holy Hydration Daily Cleanser: This is a clear gel face wash that does not get sudsy, but it does effectively cleanse and leaves behind a light level of hydration. There is nothing special here to cause me to buy it again.
  • elf Beauty Shield Recharging Magnetic Mask: I have come to find that the key to removing this mask is by hovering the magnet so close to the skin that you are pretty much touching your face. I also recommend only applying this to your forehead, cheeks, and chin. The nose area has too many fine spots that the magnet does not get into very well. I think this mask helps with acne. My only complaint is that some residue is always left behind, and I can smell a metallic scent on my skin. You are not to wash your face after. Ultimately, I will not buy again.
  • Lancer The Method: Polish: This facial exfoliator is fine, but very gritty. I will say that it is on the extreme side of exfoliation, just shy of being uncomfortable. I swear that it feels warming on the skin. Overall, you get used to these factors and it does exfoliate well. I have no plans to buy again.
  • Juice Beauty Prebiotix Tartaric + Iris Instant Flash Facial: I really do not know if this is giving your skin a legitimate facial, but it does cleanse and provide a slight exfoliation at the same time. There is no reason for me to repurchase.
  • Olivia Grace Tea Tree Nose Strip (3): When it comes to nose strips, I rarely see any gunk on them after use. These actually work for me! The amount of stuff that these remove from my pores is great. I would buy these again if I could, but they came in a masking set.

Grow Gorgeous Intense Thickening Shampoo

The last item in this January 2023 empties review is oddly my only haircare empty- the Grow Gorgeous Intense Thickening Shampoo. It cleans the hair just fine, but I did not get any thickening effects. This shampoo is heavily perfumed and you will smell it long after use, so it may not be suitable for those sensitive to fragrance. I will not buy it again.

Conclusion

In summary of this January 2023 empties review, I have never done a month of almost strictly skincare! Masks are normally quick hits, and the holidays replenished my barren stash. However, I am working on harder to use up masks first. As the year progresses, I am still diligently working on face wash, body wash, moisturizer, and much more. Makeup is always the most difficult to use up, but I know a few primers are coming up soon. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
