wet n wild Holiday Foxtrot Collection Review

We have reached what should be the final wet n wild collection of the year. Although, it feels insane that I am writing this Christmas/holiday content in October! I present to you the wet n wild Holiday Foxtrot collection. With this line we get no new innovations, rather, limited edition colors and packaging designs of their core line tools and products. There is definitely a holiday glam feel here that avoids the standard red and green. I am reviewing the entire collection, complete with swatches, star ratings, full details, and a makeup look. I will help you to decide what you want to gift to yourself and others!

Details

I will start with where to buy the collection. The official release date was never announced as it randomly dropped on Ulta’s website with zero warning. It was found by spoiler accounts on social media. As it turns out, this is an Ulta exclusive. You can get the entire collection on Ulta’s website, and possibly in stores.

Liquid Highlighter & Sponge Set

This is their Hello Halo liquid highlighter in a different package, as well as their mini sponge in a limited time color. The formula of the highlighter is incredibly buildable, allowing you to achieve a subtle, natural glow or a bold, blinding highlight. You may not like this shade if you are not into the frosty pink/blue look. Once applied, it stays put throughout the day, maintaining its luminosity without fading or settling into fine lines.

The sponge is perfectly palm-sized for on-the-go touch-ups or precise application. The miniature design is great for targeted blending in those hard-to-reach areas. The texture of the sponge is soft and bouncy, providing a smooth and even application of makeup. I found it particularly effective for blending concealer under my eyes. It expands when dampened to make it more pliable for blending but also ensures that it does not absorb an excessive amount of product.

2-Piece Retractable Eyeliner Set

These are really their Breakup Proof Retractable Eyeliners in limited time packaging, so you do not actually need them if you already have them. Their formula stays put all day, no matter if you wear it on the waterline or eyelid. It is smooth so that it will not tug or skip. The pigment is rich and matte, and you can smudge it out. It never irritates my eyes.

2-Piece Makeup Sponge Set

I am forever an advocate of their sponges! They expand when wet to become super bouncy and never hard. They provide the most beautiful and seamless blend, all without absorbing too much product. In this set we get two limited colors of their core line sponges, with shapes to target all areas of the face.

3-Piece Makeup Brush Set

In each limited collection they keep giving us the same brushes but making a limited time handle. These are from the core line, and this design is not even that special, considering they gave us the normal pink to white bristles. With the quality, you do not need to keep buying these over and over in their collections. Their brushes are super soft and will last for years. They do a great job of blending powder makeup with ease.

Highlighter & Blush Sets

Each set comes with a matte blush and a corresponding highlighter. They defintiely tried to target a range of skin tones, and some of the highlighters are too dark for me. A pro tip here is that you can use any highlighter that is too dark for your skintone as a blush topper. The packaging and formula reminds me a lot of the ones from the wet n wild Care Bears collection.

I find the blush to be buildable to your desired intensity, and it lasts all day, besides the fact that it blends well. The highlighter has more of a glitter formula, which may or may not be your thing. It still has the metallic look as well. You can build it too, and I did not find it to emphasize texture.

Eye & Face Palettes

These are 3 limited time shades of their 10 pan palettes, and they are knocking it out of the park! Interestingly enough, they did not swatch the best with my finger, but they apply shockingly pigmented to the eye with a brush! That is what counts. These shadows are so bright and bold, plus they are easy to build and to blend. You get a mix of mattes, shimmers, and glitters. I love the colors provided as they give that glam holiday feel, yet they are highly wearable for every day. The shades do not have names but they are numbered one though 10 on the back.

Mascara & Eyelash Curler Set

This is their core line eyelash curler, they did not even change the color. I have been using it daily for years now – it is that good! It truly grabs every lash and gives you a lift, without pinching or causing any pain. The mascara is their Mega Volume formula, also in the same packaging. It always leaves something to be desired with volume, but you get some length. It is a drier formula but it is ready to go right away.

Foxtrot Lip Liner & Gloss Sets

Each of the three sets feature a new shade of their signature lipgloss formula, paired with a perfectpout Gel Lip Liner pulled right from the core line. I wish they would make more lip glosses that pefectly pair with their liners! We first got liner and gloss lip kits in the Wild Crush collection, and I still reach for the liners today.

These liners have been my go-to’s since they dropped many years ago, and I cannot imagine why they discontinued most of them. The gel formula is fully pigmented and matte, yet it is always comfortable and never dry. It is also smooth and creamy so it never tugs or skipps.

wet n wild lip gloss is thick and juicy on the lips, yet it never feels sticky or heavy. It is simply the best! They always find a way to pack an unexpected amount of pigment in their formula. Feel free to re-apply as needed.

Makeup Look

I am ending with a full face of wet n wild makeup look, which features as much of the holiday collection as possible. You can see the incredible pigmentation and I definitelty got some compliments! Here are the products that I used:

To recreate the eyeshadow look, start by applying shade 10 to the crease. Next, deepen the crease with shade 3 and also apply it along the lower lash line. Now, apply shade 8 to the eyelid. Then, apply shade 6 to the outer corner and connect it to the lower lash line. Finish the look by highlighting the brow bone and inner corner with shade 1.
