The year seems as if it is barreling towards a close, which you may or may not view as a good thing. August was a big month for me in my personal life, perhaps one of the biggest thus far in my story. Despite all of that going on, I remained focused enough to whip out 15 items for this August 2021 empties review. Haircare seems to be on a hiatus, mainly because I have less to work on due to reducing my inventory over time. I am still focused on skincare masks that a moment to work through before I go back into single-use items. Wearing makeup five to six days a week is super helpful in incorporating more empties into the mix. As always, I am sharing my honest thoughts on each product and I will mention if they are worth a rebuy.

Skincare

This August 2021 empties review starts with six skincare items.

  • Spascriptions Coconut Makeup Cleansing Wipes: Take it from my personal experience, but you should really avoid makeup wipes made by Spascriptions or Global Beauty Care. These are cheap and thin, so much so that you can rip them up easily if you want to. I add micellar water because they are not wet enough, and they do push product around. These are from a three pack, so I sadly have two more packs to use.
  • The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%: There is a Sunday Riley acne product that focuses on Niacinamide and Zinc, which is my reason for trying this serum. I apply this first in my skincare routine before heavier products. Right now, I am on the fence. I do not believe it does as much as I want it to, but it may help slightly. For now, I will not repurchase, but I might in the future.
  • Physicians Formula Rose All Day Soothing Sheet Mask: I really cannot tell if this mask is soothing anything. However, I do think it moisturizes in a way that all sheet masks do. It does have the typical rose scent. This mask cannot be purchased separately.
  • Physicians Formula Butter Take Care of My Skin Moisturizing Sheet Mask: This mask does have the murumuru butter scent. I believe that it does moisturize, but it is nothing to phone home about. This mask cannot be purchased separately.
  • Freeman Detoxifying Charcoal + Black Sugar Mud Mask: This is personally my favorite Freeman and charcoal mud mask. I find that it is an effective part of treating my acne. I would buy this again, and I definitely have more of these mini tubes on hand.
  • Freeman Rejuvenating Cucumber + Pink Salt Clay Mask: This mask does provide a light exfoliation, but I never see much happening to my skin. While I never purchase it directly, it does come up in gift sets, and I might have more on hand.

Makeup

Next are five makeup empties.

  • wet n wild Pump Makeup Locker 3-in-1 BB Cream: The very first time that I used the BB Cream, the final look was so stunning. We already know that wet n wild can barely do wrong with complexion. But, it was all down hill after that. Honestly, I hate this BB Cream. It sits oddly on the skin, but, the worst part is how tacky it is. No matter what tool you apply it with, or any primer/powder combination, this product will not dry down for anything. It is by no means long-wearing either. The coverage is medium to high medium. As far as the cream products in the lid are concerned, the yellow-orange cream concealer is more sheer than what I prefer. The highlighter is not that stunning. Really, the creams come off as rather cheap. I cannot recommend this 3-in-one product.
  • wet n wild x SpongeBob Snail Soap Suds Sponge & Brush Cleanser: I do not normally put solid sponge cleansers in my empties reviews, but I am this time because it is featured in a blog post. I love the smell – it is almost like bubble bath! You bet this is 100% effective at cleaning sponges. I have never used a solid that does not work, and that is the only way that I will clean sponges now. My only gripe is that this one melts away faster than others on the market, but I would repurchase.
  • wet n wild photofocus Primer Water Spray: Can you believe that I still have this primer water spray from the Flights of Fancy collection?! I finally made myself focus on using it up to clear out space. I honestly do not think it does anything for your makeup. With it being limited edition, it cannot be repurchased.
  • Sephora Collection 12 Hour Contour Eye Pencil in Flirting Game: While this pencil is not black, I honestly enjoyed using it a lot! The formula is smooth and does not drag or tug. It holds up very well on the water line all day, which is hard to come by. Flirting Game is a difficult shade to describe, but, it is a shimmer. It blends a soft brown with a deep taupe mauve, and it truly is a flirty color. You can use it to soften any look instead of going for a harsh black line, and the shade is perfect for daily wear on the waterline. I have no plans to repurchase it, but I am not against it.
  • Fenty Beauty Full Frontal Volume, Lift, & Curl Mascara: When it comes to my favorite mascara, I want to see an incredible amount of length and volume. This one is not bad, but it does not fully do it for me. Also, I get this one all over my eyelids in application, which is not an issue I typically have. Perhaps this is due to the “flat-to-fat” wand, but it is an intriguing applicator all the same. I have been using this sample for three plus months and it is no longer working well, so bye it goes. I have no interest in buying again.

Body

Third in this August 2021 empties review are three body care items.

  • wet n wild megaglo Multi-Use Oil: This oil is part of the limited edition Crystal Cavern collection, but it was only released into Walmart and never marketed. It is no different from the Rebel Rose version, except for the scent. This is a perfectly good oil to use anywhere on the body. I emptied mine by using it as hair and cuticle oil. However, I still prefer my favorite oil. I will not buy again, but, I am happy to go back to my normal products now that all oils have been used up!
  • Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter: Here is a product that I have reviewed several times over! This body lotion, or butter, this thick and luxurious. It effectively hydrates and smoothes the skin all day, plus you get a lovely, healthy glow or shine. It features their Original Pink scent. While I never make plans to buy again, it always comes back in gift sets, which I am all for!
  • Dental Guru Charcoal White Toothpaste: I do not normally put my toothpaste in here, but you might see this at Dollar Tree and be curious about it. It is very different from other charcoal toothpastes in that it starts out a translucent gray/black, and then it turns to white when you brush. This is not a messy toothpaste to spit in the sink, nor do I find it to be very powerful. I am a coffee drinker, but I do not see anything happening.

Fragrance

This August 2021 empties review ends with a fragrance mention. I finished the last fragrance from that Christmas make your own perfume kit. That is also my last roller ball fragrance, as my goal is to finish all of them in 2021. I am including this for the count.

Conclusion

We are at the end of my August 2021 empties review. I am so happy to have worked mediocre rollerball fragrances out of my life so that I can get back into my ridiculous stash of body sprays. One of my favorite masks made an appearance in this month! September is going to help make more dents in skincare and body care. I am confident that this year will finish strong, even as we continue to see fluctuation between crazy good versus weaker months. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

How are you doing with using up mini or sample size products?
