After a few months with not as many empties as I prefer to have, this September 2021 empties review is giving me new life. I ended with 27 items, which is spectacular for a month with 30 days. Being that I am moving soon, I feel an incredible urge to reduce my stockpile, but you really cannot rush things. This post features a great variety of beauty categories, with several items that I like a lot. As always, I provide full reviews and state what I will or will not buy again.

September 2021 Empties Review

First, there are 16 skincare items in my September 2021 empties review.

Skincare

  • Joyce Bonelli Cosmetiques Peel Off Glitter Face Mask: This peel-off mask literally does nothing for the skin. I see no benefits. To apply this mask I highly recommend using a silicone mask applicator, specially because the glitter settles to the bottom, so you will want to stir the product. You get about five applications. The high price point is not worth it when it does nothing and the number of uses is limited. I will not buy again.
  • elf Balancing Facial Oil Mist: I have used this mist up as a skincare product before applying moisturizer. On its own, I really do not think I am getting any skincare or mood benefits. While I have no reason to repurchase, I do have a review of the entire Facial Oil Mist line for you to explore in more detail.
  • Modesa Micellar Cleansing Water: This is the Family Dollar off-brand of Garnier’s Micellar Cleansing Water in the pink bottle. They have the same exact ingredients, but Modesa is obviously less expensive. I will tell you what, it does its job perfectly fine and does not burn my eyes. This is evidence that you do not always need to buy name brand. Really, it is hard to find a micellar water that fails to work. I have no problem buying this again.
  • Spascriptions Aloe Vera Makeup Cleansing Wipes: Take it from my personal experience, but you should really avoid makeup wipes made by Spascriptions or Global Beauty Care. These are cheap and thin, so much so that you can rip them up easily if you want to. I add micellar water because they are not wet enough, and they do push product around. These are from a three pack, so I sadly have one more pack to use.
  • Wishful Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub: This scrub has a generous amount of fine grit, but it feels great on the skin. It left my skin feeling incredibly smooth in a way that is different from my normal routine! Before purchasing the full-size I would like to try a deluxe sample. It is hard to fully judge a one-time-use packet. Needless to say, I am curious.
  • Pond’s Pure Detox Facial Foam: I wish this face wash was sold in a larger tube. The charcoal properties are great for my acne prone skin. It dispenses as a thick, mousse-like product that is so luxurious to massage over the skin. It then turns into a rich foam. I would consider repurchasing it if it came in a larger size.
  • elf Hello Hydration Face Cream: This moisturizer is lightweight and does effectively do its job all day. It wears fine on its own, under makeup, and along with your other skincare. Since this is a cream and not a gel formula, it does not help to control my oils, which is the main reason I would not buy again.
  • elf In the T-zone Bubble Mask: This mask gently bubbles. I put it all over the face, not just in the t-zone. I do not see any changes with my skin to make me repurchase.
  • wet n wild Rose Blotting Sheets: I have tried wet n wild blotting sheets from the Pump line, as well as from other brands. These work 100% and just as well as any others. These have really gotten me into blotting throughout the day as a means to refresh my makeup! I have the other pack still to use, but I would repurchase these (or even another brand) as they are becoming a staple for me.
  • Global Beauty Care Multi-Vitamin Spa Treatment Mask: This paper mask has plenty of slits to help fit it to your face. With this being said, the hole for the mouth and upper lip area needs to be sized better. This mask does not like to stay on the face, specifically around the chin and jaw area. Per usual with this brand, I see no results from this mask. I will not repurchase.
  • elf Superbrighten Peel Pads: elf’s Supertone really works on my acne and blemishes, but my skin cannot always take it on a daily basis. The peel pads are a more gentle version of Supertone. While I can definitely use them daily, they are not strong enough to take care of my acne. I have decided to not repurchase these, but stick with Supertone. However, I urge you to check these out if Supertone is too much for your skin.
  • Spalife Pore Cleaning Bubble Mask: This is a sheet mask that fits the face very well. It is black like a charcoal mask, but it really does not bubble or foam up a lot. I see a few bubbles escaping into the air when I open the pouch. After use my pores, and my face in general, look the same. I will not buy again.

Sunday Riley Foil Packets

I am grouping these Sunday Riley foil packet samples together to keep this post organized.

  • Sunday Riley C.E.O. Vitamin C Brightening Serum: This serum absolutely provides an instant brightening effect to the complexion, so it is great for dull skin. The slight citrus scent is nice. You can layer this with your other skincare and it is easy to work into the skin. I consider buying the full-size of this product, but mainly I do not as I try to balance the price points of high-end skincare against what I truly need.
  • Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser (2): This is a basic, everyday cleanser that effectively cleans the skin. It does not lather up in any way. I personally need something stronger when it comes to breakouts, but this is fine for general use/normal skin.
  • Sunday Riley Good Genes Glycolic Acid Serum: Good Genes is a permanent part of my nighttime skincare routine, as I truly believe that it helps with my acne and breakouts. I will always repurchase!

Body Care

Second, there are five body care items.

  • Soap & Glory Clean On Me Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel: One of the best shower gels you can buy is right here! It truly is thick and creamy to moisturize your skin while getting you clean. It has the Original Pink scent. While I never make plans to buy more, I get it in gift sets annually.
  • Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter: A product that I have reviewed many times, this body lotion is thick and rich. It really does leave the skin hydrated and moisturized all day, plus you get a nice, healthy glow. It features their Original Pink scent which is strong, but I like it. While I never make plans to buy more, I get it in gift sets annually.
  • Physicians Formula Butter Hand Cream: This hand cream definitely works! I can tell after only a few days if a cream is doing me wrong because I will notice my hands feeling dry during the day. The formula is lightweight and sinks into the skin without greasy residue. It does have the famous butter scent, but it is not overbearing. This lotion can only be purchased as part of a set.
  • Olay Quench Ultra Moisture Shea Butter Body Lotion: As soon as this lotion hits your skin, you can tell that it is lightweight! It absorbs quickly with no greasy residue, yet it is effective at hydrating the skin all day. The shea butter scent is nice while not being overbearing. I would repurchase this exact mini tube for travel purposes.
  • Freeman Legs Hair Removing Clay Mask: This hair remover is such a great idea and I truly wanted it to work! It is just like a clay mask that you apply on your face, so it is super easy to get an even coating. While it does remove some hair and leave your legs feeling soft, it does an uneven job. I end up with areas of no hair, and random spots of hair. So, I still have to grab a shaver and finish the job. It is much more gentle than Nair, but I cannot repurchase as it simply does not get the job done.

Haircare

Third, I have three haircare pieces of trash in my September 2021 empties.

  • Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner: This shampoo and conditioner duo really did a good job of hydrating my hair, which has been on the drier side recently. It aided in calming some frizz caused by dryness, and I even got some natural waves and curls! Honestly, I do not buy high end shampoos and conditioners. I will remember that I am curious about these for the future.
  • Aussie Clean Color Protect Dry Shampoo: This dry shampoo typically does not leave white residue in the hair unless I am careless and overdo it. It is the type of formula that does not leave your hair looking as refreshed and oil free as other brands do. I will not repurchase.
  • Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Leave In Conditioner: I have to put less of this in my hair than I normally do with leave-in conditioners, because it leaves a weird texture or residue in the hair. My hair has been kind of dry lately, and I am not seeing this product do anything special for me. I will not repurchase.

Nails

Fourth, I have one nail item.

  • Formula X Nail Cleanser: As far as I can tell, this nail cleanser acts as a dehydrator to remove all excess moisture from the nails before a manicure. It is not necessary, as a swipe of pure acetone will do the job. However, it works if you want it. I have one more bottle on hand. Formula X is discontinued.

Makeup

I am ending this September 2021 empties review with two makeup items.

  • Hard Candy Sheer Envy Long Wear Setting Spray: I will not say that this setting spray gives more hydration than skincare, but it definitely is not matte. It sets your makeup fine for daily wear, but it will not extend wear or control oils. There is no special reason to buy this again.
  • Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector: This cream concealer has a strange formula that can be off-putting at first. It stays feeling tacky on the skin, but your makeup will apply normally over top! Using it under the eyes will cancel out darkness and veins and leave you with a glow that bounces light back. I use peach concealers to correct redness, so I will use this product all over the face, under makeup. The glow will go away under makeup, but this is a nice product. Becca is discontinued.

Conclusion

In summary of this September 2021 empties review, this month is much better in comparison to the past few. When you have a series of lighter months, you are building up to a good month when everything seems to go all at one time. My favorites from Soap & Glory, as well as Sunday Riley, are featured here. Plus, I found several products that are decent enough to recommend to you all. As we enter the final quarter of the year, I am feeling stressed about using up all of my skin care masks, with face washes taking up second place. Here is hoping to a solid end of the year! Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

Have you tried any good shampoos and conditioners recently?
