After the success of the original red compact, the Korean beauty brand had to give us more. This detailed TIRTIR Mask Fit Aura Silver Cushion Foundation review features three wear tests and swatches so that you can determine if this formula is a fit for you.
Details & Claims
I will begin with where to buy the TirTir cushion. It is currently Available from Amazon, YesStyle, and TirTir. It is not sold in stores, but, it does go on sale on Amazon from time to time. If you do not mind waiting for longer shipping (direct from the source), it is always cheaper on YesStyle.
As of now, there are only 20 shades. TirTir typically increases the shade range once the foundation has been around for a hot minute and selling well. It is $25 and you get 0.63 fl oz. A standard foundation usually offers 1 fl oz.
This foundation claims to provide a subtle glow that should be glass-like and luminous. The key ingredients are hyaluronic acid, White Hyaluronate, and birch sap, which are known to deliver deep moisture. Your final look should be dewy and healthy with no caking. TirTir says this foundation can hold up for 72 hours.
It goes on to discuss an “innovative” plant-derived Eco Net Film. It is breathable for your skin, while enabling it to retain mosture and never get dull. It should effortlessly conceal your blemishes, yet stay lightweight and “skin tight.” It also mentions a “high gloss film former” to lock the fresh complexion in. This is a lot of fancy language to draw the consumer in!
While it is perfectly fine for all skin types, TirTir recommends this foundation for dry and combination skin.
For application instructions, they do not offer much beyond appyling the foundation using the included egg-shaped puff, which should give you precision.
Swatches & Shades
The swatche below are of shade 17C Porcelain, which is a perfect shade match to me! I did one press of the puff onto the cushion, then pressed it onto my skin in the first picture. In the second picture I use the puff to blend it out, which really evidences not only the shade match, but the subtle dewy glow.
Review
To create this review I have put the foundation through three wear trials. I always pair the product that I am testing alongside products that I fully know and trust to act as a control. Over the years I have tested hundreds of foundations and complexion products. My skin type is combination.
I want to say that I wear the same shade, so far, in all of TirTir’s foundations. There has been a lot of chatter around the shades varying per formulation, even though all of the shade names stay the same. I am sure that there is some slight variation, but everything looks good on me! Also, many bring up oxidation. I do not see oxidation on me. I always wear a primer. Beyond that, my boyfriend commented that I look pale, but honey, that is the way that God made me!
For my first wear test trial I did not set the foundation with primer, and paired it with a basic setting spray and hydrating primer. I applied it using the puff. The correct way to apply any cushion foundation is to put two fingers under the band of the puff, press it once onto the cushion, then press it onto the outer packaging to remove the excess. I find that I had to press into the product several times in order to complete my entire face and neck. I ended this application by using a damp blending sponge to press everything into the skin.
The applicator does a phemomial job of blending the foundation, even in those hard to reach areas! Virtually no product is left behind on the puff. While I do not think you will need to clean it often, I recommend a liquid brush/sponge soap or a solid bar of soap, warm water, and allow it to air dry. You can follow my how to clean a powder puff tutorial. Ultimately, this foundation can be applied with the included puff or a sponge.
This foundation applies well over skincare and makeup primer, and ulitmately layers well for your entire full face of makeup. In this trial I actually layered powder contour, bronzer, blush, and highlighter over the unset foundation and nothing bad happened.
I find that it is highly blendable and buildable to a high-medium coverage. You can totally use this product as concealer/spot concealer and skip your normal products for a one-and-done routine.
The finish of this foundation is subtle dewy. That ever-so-slight hint of dew is fresh, healthy, and natural. The formula itself is very lightweight. It looks skin-like and smooth, like it is really your skin and not sitting on top.
The only observation that I have with this trial is a bit of a heavy look near the corners of my mouth and in the crease of the chin.
Now, if you are worried about this foundation making you look as greasy as a strip of bacon on your combination skin, I am here to comfirm that is not the case! At the end of a full day of wear it only allowed the slightest amount of oil through on my forehead. I do see normal wear and tear, and my upper lip and chin look heavy. This happens to me with a lot of foundations. This can signal that I applied too much, which is always a battle for me. The final look holds up and looks natural, for the most part.

In trial number two I apply the foundation with a sponge, I still do not set it with powder, and I use a basic setting spray along with a long-lasting face primer. I am extra careful with how much I apply to the upper lip and chin. The application looks better!
The end of the day shows improved results over trial one. My upper lip and chin look better, but I have a new issue of some dryness and caking at the creases of the nose. Otherwise, the results are the same. That goes to show that being lighthanded with TirTir’s foundations is very important.
For the third and final trial I am setting my face with basic powder, and going for standard hydrating primer, setting spray, and using their applicator. Powder causes this foundation to look heavy, as well as textured on the forehead, and cakey in the nose creases. This seems to be a theme for TirTir’s foundations. This foundation is best worn not set for cream and liquid makeup looks.
Even with the powder, the end of the day wear test shows the slightest amount of oil coming through on the forhead. My chin and upper lip look heavy, even though I was so careful with application.
I also want to note that the powder mattified the dewy effect, as to be expected. However, the dew came back in about two hours. Most of the glow is on my forhead, but not all of the glow is oil. This is hard to come by!
If you use the TIRTIR Mask Fit Aura Silver Cushion over time, you can achieve the benefits of deeply hydrated skin, which is why this formula is recommended for dry and combination. When combo skin is properly hydrated, it tends to produce less oils and stop over-compensating. If you have oily skin and generally do not like dewy foundation, this may be one to skip, even though it is sbutle. Plus, all of this business about an Eco Net Film is something that the competition is not doing, or is not mentioning.
