As a powder foundation coinossouir, I make it a point to try new options. Here I am covering the ever so popular Laura Geller powder foundation featuring a detailed review, a wear test, and swatches.
Details & Claims
This powder foundation is $36 each and comes in full size and travel size options. You can find all nine shades from Amazon and on Laura Geller’s website.
This baked powder foundation is handmade in Italy and is composed of pressed powders. It claims to provide a natural, yet demi-matte finish. It should have buildable coverage that always looks weightless and flawless to avoid a cakey look.
While anyone can wear it, it is especially designed for mature skin, fine lines and wrinkles, and uneven complexions. No matter your skin concerns or age, you should be able to achieve a flawless base.
The full name of this product is rather long. I will state it here once for reference, because the brand offers two other baked powder foundation options. This is the Laura Geller Baked Balance-n-Brighten Color Correcting Powder Foundation.
When it comes to how to apply, the best options are a brush or a powder puff. Use a smaller, more densly packed brush for higher coverage, or a larger disperesed brush for lighter coverage. My favorite brush is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. However, my favorite technique is a powder puff, and I really like the one from elf Cosmetics.
Swatches & Shades
This foundation comes in nine shades. I wear the shade Porcelain, which is featured in the swatches below and is perfect for fair skin tones.

Review
As we head into this review, you should know that I LOVE wearing powder foundations as actual foundation! I am all about finding new favorites, and I have extensive makeup testing experience. I do have one other article on “is Laura Geller makeup any good” and it amuses me how popular it is, despite those products being long discontinued. Hey, I tried it before it was cool.
Yes, you can wear it as a setting powder over top of your favorite foundation to gain extra coverage, extend makeup wear time, and get a soft blurred look.
This powder foundation checks every box for the critera that I look for! It is incredibly easy to apply and to blend. No matter how much you apply, it is difficult to mess it up. It will never look heavy or cakey.
It provides buildable, lightweight coerage that is medium to high medium. Of course, if you have perfect skin that is without a blemish (I envy you) it will be more full coverage. It provdies a soft blurring effect to the skin that is so smooth.
What makes this product so magical is a key trait that the brand does not really push. It contains a soft pearl pigment that is swirled into the product. It is so slight that mature skin can wear this product and fine lines and texture does not get exagerated. You really do not notice the shimmer on the face. This is what gives that perfected look. Both young and mature skin will enioy the product.
This feature also makes the foundation a standout against the competition. Mature skin normally needs to avoid shimmers as they cause settling into fine lines like lights on an airport runway. Not cute! Somehow, this foundation has the opposite effect to be highly flattering.
I find that it layers well with your other powders, skincare, and makeup in general. It has a soft matte effect. For all day wear it lasts execeptionally well! It does not allow oils to peak through and remains virtually unchanged. It is definitely long-lasting for those days when you need bullet-proof makeup. Everything sinks into my smile and forehead lines, but this foundation has minimal sinking. Again, it is truly mature skin ready.
You will enjoy that this foundation is mess-free and ready to go straight away. There is no hard layer that needs scraped off the top, which you may have experienced with other baked products in the past.
In the pictures below you can see my wear test doing a full face of powder foundation. If you like this type of makeup look, I urge you to check out my powder foundation makeup routine. That is where I break down application steps and tools for perfect layering.
