For no good reason, I have a preconceived notion that Laura Geller makeup is either cheap, not good, or some combination of the two. Maybe it is the fact that the brand is always in heavy supply in discount stores such as TJMaxx, Marshalls, and Ross. At one point in time, Ulta carried the brand, and I ended up buying two perfectly good highlighter palettes. More recently, I picked up some lipsticks and a cream blush palette at Ross. To be completely honest, those items are not bad at all! I think we all have a question tumbling around in our minds: “is Laura Geller makeup good?”. In an effort to answer this question, while also trying more from the brand, I am purchasing a mystery box from the Laura Geller website. Combining the items in that box with the few that I already have, let’s do a review with swatches and a makeup look as we answer the question together.
Laura Geller Glow for It Hi-Def Glow Illuminator Trio
The first product as we answer “is Laura Geller makeup good?” is the Glow For It Hi-Def Illuminator Trio. This is the gelato formula, and the swirls are beyond pretty! Champagne Toast is a yellow white gold, while Star Struck is a frosty pink, and Golden Gleam is gold. Honestly, this is perfectly good highlighter that sits somewhere between subtle and blinding. Really, it is smack dab in the middle. This palette has a lot of extra packaging for three little highlights, which is my only complaint.
Laura Geller Multitasking Eye Lip Cheek Palette in Shades of Mauve
Second is the Multitasking Eye Lip Cheek Palette in Shades of Mauve. This is a cream-to-powder palette that can be used on the eyes, lips, and cheeks. I prefer to use the first two shades as cream blush, and the final shade as a cream highlight. What I do is I apply the blush with a stipple brush, and the highlighter with my finger. This formula is easy to build up to get the right amount of glow or blush without any clown face. I accidentally applied these over powder one time, and this product still looks good! I do refute the cream-to-powder claim a bit. This product will stay slightly tacky on the face, never fully drying down to a powder. Because of that, I would not use these on the eye for fear of creasing, but the lips will be fine. Ultimately, I really like using this as a cream blush/highlight palette.
I am amused that is one of the few Laura Geller products that I owned before purchasing the mystery box, and of course I got another in the box. Oh well, it will make a nice giveaway item.
Laura Geller Lambswool Paddle Brush
Third is the Lambswool Paddle Brush. I have never heard of any other product like this, which makes it highly innovate. Please, do not get angry with me if you are vegan/cruelty free and upset by this product. It came in the mystery box! This tool is primarily to be used to buff setting powder onto the face, or just to buff your makeup for a smooth finish. I have a fear in the pit of my stomach that this tool will somehow mess up my makeup, so I have not actually used it. The reviews are not good on it, and it is very expensive for what it is. I would go out and buy this on my own.
Laura Geller Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick in High Line Honey
Fourth is the Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick in High Line Honey. I actually own a total of four lipsticks, three that came in a set, and then this single, so we will talk about all of them next in bulk. For starters, I love the design impressed into the lipstick bullet. The curved tip hugs the lips and makes application really easy, but it is harder to swatch them on my hand for that reason. The packaging of the lipstick is incredibly high-end, as it has a matte finish, a magnetic closure, and overall a weight and feeling of quality. Formula-wise I find all of these to be creamy, moisturizing, and buildable to a medium to full coverage. I do not want to call them shiny or high shine, but they have more shine than a satin lipstick. Ultimately, I like the lipsticks, and I welcome more colors into my collection.
Laura Geller Iconic Award Winners 3 Piece Lipstick Collection
Fifth as we explore “is Laura Geller makeup good?” is more lipstick with the Iconic Award Winners 3 Piece Lipstick Collection. This set features Chocolate Raspberry, East Side Rouge, and Broadway Glitz. But, my above remarks apply to these. Broadway Glitz is the most interesting here, as it has a duo-chrome thing going on that is unique.
Laura Geller Baked Eyeshadow Duo in Sable/Honey
Next is the Baked Eyeshadow Duo in Sable/Honey. There is no hard coating on top of the eyeshadow, meaning this product is ready to go out of the box without any scraping. This duo is incredibly shimmery, and the pigmentation is sheer. Even applied on the eye, you can barely see the pigment. This is not a product that I will be buying more shades of, or something that I will use a lot, as I am disappointed by the lack of pigmentation. A positive here is the formula is soft.

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Diamond Dust
Continuing on with more highlighter, I have the Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Diamond Dust. This is a shade that I already have in a palette, so I will be giving this away for sure. Diamond Dust is a white highlighter with a pink shift, so I like to use it to compliment mauve or pink makeup looks. This formula is the same as the palette I reviewed first in this post, so my thoughts are the same.

Laura Geller Life Glows On! Illuminator Palette
Here is the Life Glows On! Illuminator Palette. Again, this is the gelato formula I have already reviewed in this post. Since we talked about Diamond Dust, we shall move on to the other two shades. Opal Crush is a white highlighter with a pink/purple shift, while French Fizz is a yellow gold. I appreciate this palette has less bulky packaging than the other one in this post, but I am less likely to use these shades. As a matter of personal preference, I do not reach for odd colored highlighters much, such as pinks and purples. French Fizz is more likely to be used by me.
Laura Geller Precision Eyeliner Brush
Next is the Precision Eyeliner Brush. The size and slant of this brush makes it a perfect choice, not just for eyeliner, but for filling the eyebrows. While this is my only Laura Geller brush, I would definitely buy more based upon this one. It feels sturdy and of good quality, with soft bristles. Really, it seems to be just as good as other brushes that I own and rave about, like brushes by elf or wet n wild.
Laura Geller Prep-n-Go Lip Scrub and Tint Duo in First Place
Pressing on, here is the Prep-n-Go Lip Scrub and Tint Duo in First Place. This is another innovative product for the brand, with a lip scrub on one end, and a tinted lip oil on the other. I prefer lip scrubs in a lipstick bullet format because of the ease of use and mess-free application. The scrub is so good! It does not feel all that gritty, but it does effectively exfoliate the lips, and it is very soft. The lip oil, is, well, an oil. I do not have much to say there as you really cannot get a tinted oil wrong, but the color is pretty. The oil features a flat paddle-like doe foot applicator.
Laura Geller Waterproof Eye Spackle Hues Advanced Primer and Eyeshadow in Mauve Majesty
Here is the Waterproof Eye Spackle Hues Advanced Primer and Eyeshadow in Mauve Majesty. I sound like a broken record here, but this is another innovative product. This is basically a cream eyeshadow that serves a dual purpose of being an eyeshadow primer and an eyeshadow itself. I had to twist it for quite a while to get it started, and then a ton came out, as you can see by the swatch! Do not over twist it like me, but at least you get to see the color well. It features a brush tip applicator. This product dries down to be fully matte and it does not budge/crease/fade! It absolutely works well as a primer and as an eyeshadow. I definitely want this product in more colors. Bravo, Laura Geller for sending me mauve stuff. You know me so well!
Laura Geller Lustereyes 24-Hour Eyeliner in Luster Black
Next is the Lustereyes 24-Hour Eyeliner in Luster Black. This is a felt tip liquid eyeliner that dries to a shiny finish. I know a lot of people prefer matte black liner over shiny, but it does not bother me. As you can see in the swatch, it is easy to make thick or thin lines, and the shine is there. Curiously enough, this product does not look as shiny on the eyes as it does in my swatch. As the eyeliner dries down, it gets a little bit difficult to go over it with more eyeliner as you perfect your line. It almost acts like it is drying tacky, so the felt tip does not want to keep layering more on, but it can be done. Tapping it with my finger proves it is not tacky, so I do not know what that is about. I can see myself using this product up, but I would not repurchase or get more colors.
Laura Geller Line-n-Define Dual Dimension Eyeliner in Black/Gold
The last item to review as we answer the question “is Laura Geller makeup good?” is the Line-n-Define Dual Dimension Eyeliner in Black/Gold. The gold end is a kajal eyeliner, which was super popular about five or six years ago, but that fad died out. You can definitely use it as an eyeshadow. The gold shade is very pretty and it stays put. The eyeliner end is incredibly thick, but it is matte black. If you are a beginner at eyeliner I would not recommend this product as you may struggle with the size of the eyeliner tip. For me being more intermediate or advanced, I can control it to get thick or thin lines. Dare I say, this is another innovative product.
Makeup Look
We cannot answer the question “is Laura Geller makeup good?” with swatches and reviews alone- we need to see products used on the face! Now, I do not own enough Laura Geller to do a full face of the brand, but I am incorporating as many products as I can into this makeup look. I will list for you all of the products that I am using. As you can see, the final look is very light and natural, which I think is pretty for daily wear.

Conclusion
We are at the end of this exploration, so it is time to finally answer, “is Laura Geller makeup good?”. My final answer is, yes, for the most part. This makeup line is incredibly innovative, with so many products I have never seen other brands do. The key here is obvious and simple. If a product looks like something you will not like or generally seems to be cheap, then skip it. But, I have no reason to continue on in life breezing by these products in the store, and I definitely want to try more. Say, for example, when I am in TJMaxx, I might skip an eyeshadow palette that looks like it is not my cup of tea, but I am more willing to try something new. You may also be wondering at this point if this line is drugstore or high end. The price points are more high end, and this brand definitely is not drugstore. As a final note, I like their packaging/boxes. They put a lot of thought into the designs, fonts, and colors, which says a lot about the brand itself. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

I love how it looks on you but I don’t like the look of the packaging for me, it looks a bit cheap and it’s really not so I’d probably skip it
The packaging is pretty cheap, I like the actual boxes the makeup itself comes in. With the exception of the lipsticks- they are so nice. Thank you!
I’m a 81 yo woman and would like to purchase laura geller makeup, but afraid of the talc may cause cancer
I have Broncheactis and wonder if this product will make it worse or give me lung cancer. Otherwise I am pretty healthy for my age.
Although the makeup feels good on my face, it does bring out my wrinkles even more. I used primer and concealer, along with the makeup, I’m still seeing my wrinkles stand out like a sore thumb.
