July 2021 Empties Review – Trash Time

June was a rare month for beauty trash that resulted in 30 items, which is one item per day. Most of those items were full-size. You might be wondering what happened in July?! Why does this July 2021 empties review only have 11 items? This is not a testament of failure, rather, I continue to work hard daily. When you burn through full-size items and have to start everything new, you can only imagine that July will be slower. I am still working on skincare masks that are more time consuming as well. This post is small but mighty! As always, I am reviewing each item and stating whether or not I will buy again.

Skincare

I am starting off the July 2021 empties review with six skincare empties.

  • Freeman Clearing Sweet Tea + Lemon Peel-Off Clay Mask: This is a mask that I have reviewed so many times. It is painful to remove, which is true for all of their peel-offs that are not gel. I wish that it would help with acne when it says that it clears impurities. This mask never seems to do anything for me. I might have more due to gift sets.
  • elf Hydrating Coconut Mist: As discussed in my May 2021 empties, I like to use this mist before applying moisturizer as an extra layer of hydration, and it works well. It also sets makeup beautifully. The coconut scent is light and refreshing. I have also gotten into habit of using it to refresh my makeup. After I use all facial sprays up, I might repurchase.
  • Freeman Indian Turmeric Hydrating Gel Cream Mask: I do find that this mask hydrates the skin. There is nothing over the top about it to cause me to repurchase.
  • Freeman Hawaiian Black Salt Sheet Mask: I cannot prove that this mask detoxifies, but, the skin does feel hydrated, which is normal for a sheet mask. Any luminosity that I do see can be due to the wetness of the mask. I am not sure that anything is really going on to make me repurchase.
  • Freeman French Pink Clay Pore Refining Peel-Off Mask: I do not see this mask doing anything for pores. It is not that painful to remove, rather, pretty standard for the Freeman peel-off clay masks. There is not enough going on to repurchase.
  • Soap & Glory Face Soap and Clarity Vitamin C Facial Wash: Here we go again with another face wash so that I can tell you, yeah, it cleanses the face. It has decently sized exfoliating beads as well. Right away you get a menthol scent, which you should keep in mind if that is not your cup of tea. It does not lather up all that much. Ultimately, it does not stand out from other face washes for me to buy again.

Haircare

Second, I have one haircare empty.

  • Yes to Grapefruit Vitamin C Brightening Hair Clay Mask: This hair mask says that it can be used in the shower after shampoo and in place of your conditioner. That is exactly what I did! I like the light, bouncy, mousse-like texture of this clay mask, which makes it perfect for the hair. This packet contains a generous one-time-use. However, this is not strong enough to be used in place of conditioner for my hair. It definitely leaves my hair more dry and frizzy than usual. I understand how vitamin C can brighten the skin, but not hair. At least I can see healthy shine. I will not repurchase.

Makeup

Third is three makeup empties.

  • Maybelline Super Stay Full-Coverage Under-Eye Concealer: Let me just tell you, I bought this concealer when it first came out, but I started working on it more in 2019 and 2020. It takes forever to use this product up. The reason is the squeeze-tube packaging because you can not only remove the stopper, but actually cut the tube open and get every last drop. Yes, it will dry out when you open it up. But, this formula is creamy and full-coverage. It does last all day, and the shade range gives me a light enough color that I can highlight the face with it. The finish is natural, not too matte or dewy. While it is perfectly fine concealer, I will not repurchase because it does not stand out among the crowd.
  • Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Love Hangover: This blush sample is a true testament to how long it takes to use them up! I have been working on it since 2018, so it is highly fortunate that this red/pink hue is the perfect color for everyday wear. The pigmentation is fairly strong, so I recommend using a light hand. Even I have days where I put on too much, as it goes on bright fairly quickly without needing to be built up. I own way too much blush to consider repurchasing it, however, it appears to be discontinued.
  • wet n wild  Fantasy Makers 3-in-1 Face Mist in Dewy Illusion: Much like I say for all of the wet n wild sprays that come in this packaging, they do a perfectly good job of setting your makeup. While they will not extend wear time, they are fine for daily use. The gold metallic shimmer in this particular mist is nearly undetectable on the skin, but a mild luminosity can be seen. I have no reason to repurchase.

Fragrance

I am ending this July 2021 empties review with a quick fragrance hit.

I emptied another rollerball fragrance from that ‘make your own fragrance’ kit that I bought about two years ago. As I mention in my June 2021 empties, I am including it for the count, but there is no purpose to review.

Conclusion

In summary of this July 2021 empties review, these are some decent items for you to consider. The Maybelline concealer and Too Faced blush literally took me years to get through, so those are major accomplishments. As I look toward August I remain confident that it will yield more trash than July. I can sit here and name off for you items that I 100% know will bite the dust. At the end of the day, it is not about the number, but about getting your monies worth and not being wasteful. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
