I am doing this elf Camo CC Cream review because it has a lot of hype. You may be curious about it, especially since it is at a $14 price point, which is significantly high for elf, and is rather steep for the drugstore in general. In this post I will share the claims, my review, and a full-face of elf makeup look wearing this foundation.
Details & Claims
They state that this product is a medium-to-full coverage foundation that provides a natural finish. It is formulated with SPF 30 while also multi-tasking with skincare benefits. The hydrating and youth-boosting ingredients should improve skin texture and tone.
They also tout a shade match guarantee. I know a lot of ladies said shade matching online is incredibly tough and misleading, but I found my shade on the first try, which is Fair 120N.
Ingredients
CC creams typically contain ingredients that function as skincare to provide benefits while wearing makeup. This CC cream contains:
- Hyaluronic Acid – locks in moisture for plump skin
- Niacinamide – brightens and even out skin tone
- Peptides – refreshes the complexion
- Collagen
Review
I have worn this foundation three times. First, I wore it with all of the items from the full-face of elf makeup look that you will find below. In the first trial I applied it with a brush and then pressed it into the skin with a sponge, but it definitely looks like it is sitting on top of my skin.
I had an unusual experience where brushing away baking powder and applying highlighter to the tip of my nose caused coverage to be removed. This never happens to me! Applying setting spray assists with making it look more skin-like, but not entirely. It does warm up to the skin well during the day and I like how my reflection looks in the mirror.
At the end of the day, normal wear and tear is present, which I define as separation in the creases of the nose and smile lines. This happens to me with every foundation. I see additional breakdown in the crease of the chin. Oils are controlled fairly well. The forehead looks fresh, while the most oil appears around the nose and is somewhat shiny.
For the second trial, I only used a sponge over top of my every day makeup products and my favorite primer. This foundation definitely looks better on the skin with a sponge versus a brush. This time around I also used less product. I applied one pump to the entire face, and then a partial pump for areas that needed more coverage. This also promotes the product sitting better on the skin. The wear test presents the same results. Here is a picture of that look:
My third trial was wearing it with the Mint Melt Primer. I again used a sponge with one pump and then a partial pump. All results are the same.
I find that this foundation is buildable, and the finish is satin that leans closer to being matte. It is definitely full coverage. No matter what primer or other products that I use it with, I find that it wears the same. It lasts really well and can be dubbed long-wearing.
I would only apply powder around the nose as a touch-up to control oil there. This foundation looks the best when applied with a sponge and when paired with hydrating products.
Ultimately, this product never looks fully skin-like on me. It always seems to sit on the skin. Foundation wears differently on everyone, so you may have a different result. I give this four out of five stars, but it is a happy addition to my elf foundation collection.
This foundation is formulated to be used with their Camo Concealer line, and they look beautiful together! Of course, you can use any concealer of your choosing.

Makeup Look
I am paring the CC Cream with their beloved Poreless Putty Primer and Camo Concealer. I am also revisiting the Earth and Ocean Eyeshadow Palette for you, but this time I am doing an olive green look. Please note that I do not own elf mascara, so I am using what I have open from the drugstore right now. Also, I always use the NYX Glitter Primer with any eyeshadow that is not matte. The end results are stunning, and I am obsessed with the eye look.

To create this eye look at home, apply Spruced Up to the crease, and it bring below the eye onto the lower lash line. Next, apply Gold Rush onto the eyelid over top of the Nyx Glitter Primer. Then, apply Spruced Up to the outer-v. Finish the look by highlighting the brow bone and inner corner with Sun Yourself. As you can see, this look is super basic with only a few shades, but it has high impact. I only wish that this palette had a darker green included.

I am not mad at this product. Will I wear it for special occasions? No, but I will wear it on a daily basis, in future blog posts featuring elf, and for blog photography. When I empty this product, I will most likely purchase more. I believe this product is worth the $14 if a more expensive CC cream is outside of your budget. Do you wear CC cream? Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

This CC Cream has so much hype! I was shocked to see that elf went with a higher than normal price point. I wish I loved it a *bit* more.
