Details & Claims

Right off the bat, there are a string of similarities. Both CC creams are $15 each, come in 30 shades, and contain 1 fl oz or 30 grams of prodcut. Aditionally, they are packaged in a squeeze tube bottle with a pump. To shop the CC creams, they are all available from elf, Amazon, and Ulta. Walmart offers Camo CC Cream, but not Hydrating Camo. When shopping in-store, you are likely not going to find all 60 shades between the two, but you should find more Camo CC cream options on the counter.

The differences come with the claims. Hydrating Camo claims to be a full-coverage, color correcting foundation that hydrates with a dewy finish. It should plump the appearance of your skin. Camo CC cream claims to be medium-to-full coverage with a semi-matte finish. It should also color correct and hydrate, but have a natural appearance. elf pushes this one as a multi-tasker with skincare benefits.

Both CC creams contain SPF 30 and are designed for all skin types: combination, dry, and oily.

Hydrating Camo makes a key ingredient callout of Vitamin B5 to moisturize and nourish the skin. Camo CC makes no key ingredients callouts.

Application is the same for each. You are to apply one to two pumps to your skin with a brush or a sponge.

Comparison Review

Heading into my elf Hydrating Camo CC Cream vs. Camo CC Cream review we need to keep in mind that I have extensive experiene with both foundations, plus elf Cosmetics. I tested the elf Camo CC Cream several years ago at its original release and I really did not like it. Over the years our skin changes, as well as our application techniques. I used to complain that it was dry, too mate, and heavy on the skin. My thoughts are now changed.

When you dispense Camo CC Cream, the formula has a look that suggets that it will be matte and heavy. It does lean on the matte or dry side, but it has a true natural finish. You can easily maniupulate that finish with your skincare and powders. The Hydrating CC Cream has a very fresh and dewy look on the skin. Both are easy to blend with a brush or a sponge. Hydrating Camo melts in a bit more.

Hyrdating Camo is not full coverage after one pump. You will see some natural redness and blemishes coming through. A second pump can be applied and the formula is buildable. It never gets heavy or cakey. Camo CC cream is full coverage in a hurry. You can build it, but that is not necessary.

It is preferable to not set Camo CC cream or you risk making it look heavy or cakey. The same rings true for Hydrating Camo – powder makes it look heavy. It just wants to breathe and be fresh. I have more on that in my elf Hydrating Camo CC Cream review.

I find that both of these ever so slightly sit on top of the skin. I believe that mixing the two together can be an ideal compromise.

After a full day wear test, Camo CC cream gets a bit textured, especially on the forehead, upper lip, and along the jaw lines. Fine lines get very crunchy and bunchy, making it not ideal for mature skin. Hydrating Camo leaves me with normal wear and tear and minor sinking into smile lines. it is a better choice for mature skin. Neither of these allow much oil through on my combination skin, but a large part of that is my current skincare routine. All in all, Hydrating Camo Holds up better.

Both of these CC creams have skin-loving benefits that help to double as skincare. You probably will not apply enough to get the full benefits of the SPF 30. The best base for application is hydrated skin for each of these. They really like the elf Power Grip Primer. The packaging is easy to use and reliable. Many people find these to be afforadable dupes for the IT Cosmetics CC creams. While I have not tested those, elf is giving us good ingredients and similar packaging at nearly half the cost. Below you can see the full details in comparison.

SUMMARY
In my review of the CC Creams, both offer unique wear tests. Initially, I found Camo CC Cream too dry and matte, but now appreciate its natural finish that can be adjusted with skincare and powders. Hydrating Camo provides a fresh, dewy look and blends seamlessly, though it is not full coverage with one pump and requires a second for buildable coverage. Camo CC Cream has full coverage, but, both risk looking heavy if set with powder. Both slightly sit on top of the skin, with Hydrating Camo being better for mature skin due to less settling into fine lines. After a full day, Camo CC Cream can get textured, whereas Hydrating Camo wears with minimal issues.

Ultimately, Hydrating Camo wears better on me and has the ideal look that I strive for. I am surprised by my revisit of Camo CC Cream – I kept looking in the mirror all day! Your choice will come down to your preference of finish. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
