I will be the first person to tell you that I think various crystal skincare tools are mostly a gimmick. They all make a long list of claims that can be somewhat difficult to prove. Naturally, over time I have accumulated a few tools that I like to use now and again. I think we can all stand to learn a little bit more about how these tools work, so I am taking the time to research crystal face roller benefits. I will be talking about the benefits, how to use the tools, and how I like to use them. Time to get started.
Rose Quartz
I am starting off my exploration of crystal face roller benefits with rose quartz. Rose quartz claims to be able to remove dead skin cells while reducing inflammation and overall promoting healing. It may also have the ability to soften the appearance of fine lines by alleviating tension. Rose quartz is best used at nighttime as a means of calming your skin for sleep.
I have two different rose quartz tools. The first is a general double-sided roller from Walmart under the Equate line that runs about $10, but there are an overwhelming amount to pick from on the internet. I also have the Flawless Contour that comes with two interchangeable heads and it vibrates. The one head is a roller, while the other is an under eye stone. Do I feel the vibrations are necessary? No, you can totally stick with the non-technologically advanced model, but if you enjoy the extra pampering of vibrations, then go for it.

Jade and Gua Sha
Jade Rollers
Next up I have some jade products as part of my crystal face roller benefits journey. The claims on jade are pretty much the same as those on rose quartz. It claims to calm inflammation and irritation while smoothing fine lines. It also supports drainage of the lymphatic system, which may flush out bacteria and toxins that cause blemishes. Hence, jade promotes less acne.
Both tools shown in the picture are from the brand My Beauty Spot. The roller is from Dollar Tree, and the funny shaped tool is a gua sha tool from Five Below. Now, you are probably wondering what on earth gua sha is. Basically, you scrape the tool over key areas of the face and neck.
Gua Sha
To dive in deeper, gua sha is a massage technique that will ease the muscles in the face. As you reduce the tension, blood flow improves, and thus promotes lymphatic drainage. Additionally, the scraping action should produce collagen and reduce fine lines while also clearing chronic whiteheads, blackheads, and other breakouts.
Many people prefer to apply an oil or some sort of product to the face before getting started. You are to take the tool and gently sweep it over the following areas:
- Down both sides of your neck
- Under your chin
- Over the middle of your chin toward the jawline
- Under your cheekbones
- Over your cheekbones
- Under the eyes
- From your eyebrows toward your hairline
- From the middle of your forehead toward the hairline
How I Use Rollers and Other Info
Generally speaking, crystal facial rollers are designed to minimize skin puffiness, alleviate tension, and to increase circulation. Beyond that, they should also stimulate the lymphatic system to aid in gently draining fluid from the skin and muscle tissue, which in tern brings more oxygen flow to the skin. Besides rose quartz and jade featured in this post, you will also find crystal tools made out of amethyst, obsidian, and quartz.
I like to use facial rollers to help skincare products absorb into the skin. I usually reach for one after applying a serum or a face mask that directs you to massage the excess serum in. For smaller rollers or eye crystals, I typically use those with eye creams in the under eye area.
Conclusion
In summary of these crystal face roller benefits, they definitely sound like handy tools to have. Do I still think that they are somewhat gimmicky and unnecessary? Yes. But, with regular use, they are a perfectly fine added step to your skincare routine to help you work products into your skin. Plus, they give you some me-time or pamper-time, which is always a healthy thing. If you are as skeptical as me, then I would not invest an arm and a leg into the tools. On those rare occasions when I do reach for a tool, I do enjoy them. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

I’ve never been interested in them, thought they were gimmicky but lately I’ve been feeling the need to add one to my routine, mainly to depuff my face, I might ask for one for my birthday. I’d probably go for quartz because pink is my favourite colour ahah
Lol I agree with that. The Flawless one was a gift- no way I was spending money on a vibrating roller when I already have standard ones. I still think they are gimmicky, but the pamper yourself aspect is quite nice.
Ahahah yes I’ll get a classic one
I would love to try one of these out for myself to see if they actually work. I would go for the jade one!

They are good for relaxing and self-pampering, if anything!
