In continuing on with my nail polish collection series, next up is my Formula X nail polish collection. This collection was a Sephora-exclusive line of not just nail polishes, but also nail polish remover, cuticle oil, and more. It was discontinued long ago, but of course you can still find these polishes on Amazon. Actually, a few years ago I snagged some bottles from Ross. Later in 2019 Tuesday Morning got a buyout of Formula X products, which is how I obtained most of these shades! I have a total of 54 polishes, including various top coats and base coats. There are a few shade repeats in the smaller sets, which I will denote later on. These polishes are great and I wear them quite frequently. It is a shame that this line is discontinued! I have swatches of everything, so let’s get started.
Shade names from left to right
My Formula X Nail Polish Collection
Formula X Nail Color
As I always do in my nail polish collection posts, I like to break brands down into individual lines. For my Formula X nail polish collection, I am starting with the ‘nail color’ line which are standard nail polishes in the white packaging.

Formula X Neon Nail Color
I have two neon nail colors in this line. Typically, neon nail polishes are rather sheer, so I always recommend layering them over a white polish for the full effect.
Oomph: Neon pink orange
Radioactive: Neon green
Formula X Effects Nail Color
The next line in my Formula X nail polish collection are the Effects polishes in the black packaging. All of these have some sort of metallics, glitters, shimmers, or confetti going on.
Boom: Clear with chunky and fine sky blue confetti
Astrolady: Hot pink glitter and shimmer
Ectasy: Jelly black with fine copper glitter
Alchemy III: Mixture of rose gold and pink shimmer

Love Chemistry: Chunky gold glitter
Borealis: Metallic green with gold shift
Tide: Metallic purple with fine glitter
Formula X Clix
The Match
The Clix line is really cool because you get four mini nail polishes that actually click into the larger lid. You can wear the shades individually or create an entire look with all of them, as the Clix are color-coordinated! Some of the shades in these Clix are repeats from the full-size bottles above. While I am not re-swatching them, I will at least notate what the duplicates are.

Conclusion
My Formula X nail polish collection contains so many polishes that are actually unique to my huge collection, which is not easy to do! This formula is just as good as other nail polishes. I have no issues with streaking while applying, or any true negatives. I am especially enjoying the top coats and base coats right now. So sad that they are discontinued! Make sure to get your hands on those top coats and base coats for sure! Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
Do you have any Formula X in your collection?

Oh I had no clue that Sephora had a nail polish collection! I’m sad it’s discontinued though, because now I’m not able to try them. I fell in love with the mauve shade in your first picture!

I have the mauve shade on my toes right now! Luckily you can find a lot of these on Amazon, or in random discount stores. I recommend scooping them up.
I’m going to check out Amazon in hopes to find some!
I love Formula X and still have most of their colors, but am running low on their nail strengthener. It is literally the best I’ve ever used. Does anyone know where I can find it? Or do y’all have an idea as something that works as well. I’m devastated. Also if you are looking for Formula X colors, Wal-Mart online has a pretty good variety, but the pricing is all over the place.
I would try resell websites like such as eBay. The entire line was discontinued several years ago. I actually don’t have a nail strengthener recommendation because I don’t use those. They have a bad reputation for making nails too hard to the point that they can break even more. Sally Hansen from the drugstore seems to have a big variety of them.
Thanks, Amanda!
Anytime!!
A year later, I’ve just found this review, just like I just discovered SEPHORA formula x nail polish. Some are matte but doesn’t say on the bottles and they look as though they are creme polishes on the outside but when applied to the nails they are matte…confusing but nice.
Thank you for sharing.
