My elf haul 17 is a drugstore makeup haul to get excited about because it features plenty of newer products that I have not yet tried! Here I have a good mix from all categories- eyes, lips, face, skincare, and tools. There may just be some new favorites lurking in this lineup. If trying out new makeup is just as exciting for you as it is for me, then I encourage you to keep reading for all of my reviews and swatches!
Eyes
elf Modern Metals Eyeshadow palette
The first item in my elf haul 17 is the Modern Metals eyeshadow palette. Half of the shades are shimmers, and half are mattes. The swatches are a bit lighter than my expectations, but I think the eyeshadows may apply better with a brush. The color story is unique and one that will require some creativity when creating a look.
elf Long Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow in Toast
Second, I have a Long Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow in the shade Toast. I already know that these eyeshadows are super shimmery and almost cream-like in texture, but Toast is too much like a sheer glitter. Perhaps a brush or sponge can build the pigment up better on the eyelid, but for the moment this is a pass.
elf 90s Mood Eyeshadow palette
Third is the 90s Mood Eyeshadow palette. I think the deep hues are spot on for the 90s. The pigmentation is probably the best out of all three of the retro palettes!
elf 70s Feels Eyeshadow palette
Fourth, I have the 70s Feels Eyeshadow palette. Again, all of the shades are shimmers with some unexpected pops of gentle colors. I like the last two shades the best.
elf 80s Vibes Eyeshadow palette
Fifth is the 80s Vibes eyeshadow palette. elf is almost hitting the mark with this palette, but I think it will be better if the pink would be a hot pink and if a neon green is added. Otherwise, the results for this retro palette are the same as the others.
Lips
elf Lock On Lip Primer
Next in my elf haul 17 we are transitioning into lip products. First I have the Lock On Lip Primer. The formula itself is clear which is not swatch friendly, but it claims to prevent lip colors from fading, feathering, and cracking. It features a doe foot applicator like you will find in a lip gloss.
elf Modern Metals Liquid Matte Lipstick
Second, I have the Modern Metals Liquid Matte Lipstick. It is a rich brick or terracotta color, which I really like and will use. The formula is the same as the liquid matte lipstick line and dries down fully matte in a few minutes.
elf Modern Metals Lip Gloss
Third is the Modern Metals Lip Gloss. It is a clear lip gloss with plenty of gold glitter. It is made to go with the matte liquid lipstick, but you can pair it with anything or wear it on its own.
elf Tinted Lip Oil in Nude Kiss
Fourth I am trying out one of the Tinted Lip Oils in Nude Kiss. Nude Kiss is a perfect everyday color, especially good for light makeup days. I like how the formula looks like a lip gloss, but feels like an oil and is not thick or sticky.
elf Sheer Matte Liquid Lipsticks
Fifth, I am getting into the Sheer Matte Liquid Lipsticks with two starter shades. The purpose of this formula is to provide sheer coverage with a blotted look, but still have a matte finish and plenty of pigment. With the swatches I say that elf is knocking it out of the park. These are just like the liquid matte lipsticks, just more sheer. Something is wrong with the formula of my Nude Rose. It is watery and will not dry down matte. I think I got a bad one, but Praline Petal is perfect!

Face
elf Make Me Matte Foundation Adjuster
Next up in my elf haul 17 are some face products! I am starting with the Make Me Matte Foundation Adjuster which is a mattifying powder that you can mix into any cream or liquid product. It comes with a scooper that has a super tiny dip in it that collects the right amount of powder to add to your product. You can even apply it as a powder to your face before applying foundation, but that sounds like a makeup no no. I do wonder how it will perform as a setting powder.
elf HD Lifting Concealer in Fair
I think I tried the HD Lifting Concealer many moons ago back when I had no idea how to use concealer, but I am not sure. I am hoping in 2019 that elf has the formula and the shade just right, but ultimately I need to try this concealer out on the face. So far from the swatch I think it looks good.
elf Prismatic Highlighting Stick in Cosmic
Stick makeup is not my favorite form of makeup, so I admit that I will probably not use the Prismatic Highlighting Stick. It is a white highlight that gives off a pink/purple cast, and I think the sheen is pretty nice. The formula blends nicely and feels like it may stay all day. I am curious about how it looks over top of foundation or even setting powder.
elf Prep & Glimmer Stick in Golden
The Prep & Glimmer Stick is a face priming stick that should give your makeup a dewy appearance. In swatching the stick it feels very cool and refreshing on the skin and it glides on easily. You will notice that it provides a subtle glow to my skin. Most of the glow is provided by straight up gold glitter. I prefer a product that helps you glow naturally without the use of actual glitter. The test here is how well makeup applies over it, what kind of finish do you get, and how does your makeup hold up during the day.
elf Power Glow Highlighter in Rose Gold
Liquid highlighters are not my favorite either, but I do like a good rose gold highlighter. The Power Glow Highlighters claim that they can be mixed into foundation or applied right onto the high points of your face. You do get plenty in one pump, which is enough to cover my hand and far too much to apply to your high points only. I am concerned that the shade a bit too dark for my skin tone. It does pack on a mighty shine!
elf Modern Metals Blush & Highlighter palette
For one more face item I have the Modern Metals Blush & Highlighter palette. The top row are highlighters, and the bottom row are all matte blushes. I am afraid that the second and third highlighters are too dark for my skin tone, making only the first one wearable, but all of the blushes are nice. The highlighter shades correspond well with the blush shades below them so that you can use the highlighters as blush toppers.
Tools
elf Dual Sided Silicone Blender
Moving into tools in my elf haul 17 I have a surprising purchase. We all know that silicone blenders do not work for foundation application, but hear me out on this one. elf’s Dual Sided Silicone Blender has a flocked fabric side that is supposed to make your foundation look skin-like without streaks. You should use the silicone side to start spreading out your foundation, and then go over it with the flocked side. This tool has a lot of good reviews, calling it better than a blending sponge, and it is easier to clean and more antimicrobial.
elf It’s Lit Highlighting Kit
Second, I have the It’s Lit Highlighting Kit. It contains two brushes that are not new by any means, they just feature rose gold handles that are nicer than the original brushes. I already have the fan brush and highlighting brush in my makeup brush collection, but I am replacing them with these.

elf Frizz Taming Hair Shine Sheets
Third is more of a hair care product but it does not fit into any category well. I have the Frizz Taming Hair Shine Sheets that claim to reduce frizz and add shine on the go. You get 60 in a pack which sounds like a good value, and I am wondering how big or small the sheets are.
Skincare
elf Hydrating Bubble Mask
I am ending my elf haul 17 with plenty of skin care! First, I have the Hydrating Bubble Mask. After using a sample of this mask I am going for the full-size. I love that I can hear and feel the bubbles popping, which is relaxing, and it has a fresh and clean scent. The mask claims to remove excess dirt and to cleanse pores for glowing and healthy skin. The gel transforms into bubbles. You are to apply a thin layer to damp skin and to massage the bubbles in after five to 10 minutes. Finally, wash the mask off with warm water and follow-up with moisturizer.
elf Clarifying Booster Drops
Second, I have the Clarifying Booster Drops. They can be mixed into any skincare or foundation products, or applied directly to your face. You can use these drops as often as you want. They claim to provide an even complexion.
elf Charcoal Hydrogel Under Eye Masks
Third are the Charcoal Hydrogel Under Eye Masks. They claim to depuff, detoxify, brighten, energize, plump, sooth, and nourish the under eye area. You are to apply them to clean skin for 10 to 15 minutes. After use you should pat in the excess serum. They can be used as often as you like. Each box has three sets.
elf Hydrogel Under Eye Masks
Fourth are the Hydrogel Under Eye Masks. They claim to plump, moisturize, soothe, smooth, and brighten your under eye area. The directions are the same as the charcoal version except that you should use them one to two times per week. Again, each box has three sets.
elf Hydrating Water Sheet Mask
With number five I am getting into some sheet masks! Some of these are repurchases from my elf haul 14. First up is the Hydrating Water Sheet Mask. It claims to hydrate, nourish, refresh, and add glow to the skin. You are to apply it to clean skin for 10 to 15 minutes, and then pat the excess serum in. It can be used once per week in the morning or at night.
elf Aloe-Infused Soothing Mask
Next is the Aloe-Infused Soothing Mask. It claims to provide a calm and even complexion. You are to apply it to clean skin for five minutes once per week. It can be used in the morning or night. You should pat the excess serum into your skin.
elf Lemon-Infused Brightening Mask
Here is the Lemon-Infused Brightening Mask. It claims to brighten, clear, refresh, and tone. You are to apply it to clean skin for 10 to 15 minutes, and then pat the excess serum in. It can be used once per week in the morning or at night.
elf Oil Control Sheet Mask
Continuing on is the Oil Control Sheet Mask. It is a sheet mask infused with clay that removes excess oils while providing light moisturization. You are to apply it to clean skin for 10 to 15 minutes, and then pat the excess serum in. It can be used once per week in the morning or at night.
elf Coconut Water-Infused Moisturizing Mask
Here is the Coconut Water-Infused Moisturizing Mask. It claims to hydrate, plump, moisturize, nourish, and treat dry patches. You are to apply it to clean skin for 10 to 15 minutes, and then pat the excess serum in. It can be used once per week in the morning or at night.
elf Detoxifying Bubble Mask
The final item in my elf haul 17 is the Detoxifying Bubble Mask. It claims to detoxify and to draw out impurities. You are to apply it to clean skin for 10 to 15 minutes, and then massage the bubble overs your skin. Finish by rinsing with warm water.
In summary of this elf haul 17, almost all of these items are newer from elf and will be an adventure for me to try. It is difficult for me to pick which items I am most excited about because I love trying new makeup and want to play with everything. Do you use any of these products? Please share any thoughts in the comments, and until next time continue to let your true beauty shine.
