It is a good day when elf has a sale that finally includes some of their newer items! This elf haul 19 is packed with products for the cheeks and face, and I am even getting to share the elf+ Matte line! It seems like I have been waiting forever to try some of these items, and I am glad that I get to do it with you all. As usual, I have swatches, first impressions, and reviews of everything. Time to roll!

Eyes

elf Opposites Attract Eyeshadow Palette

The first item in my elf haul 19 is the Opposites Attract Eyeshadow Palette. I consider this shade range to be “fun” because you get some standout hues like mustard, purple, and hunter green. The color story includes both matte and shimmer shades. You can create a variety of looks with this palette, from neutral all the way to bold. It swatches ok with the finger. I want to see how these apply with a brush on the eye to make a final determination.

elf The New Classics Eyeshadow Palette

Second is The New Classics Eyeshadow Palette. This is not your ordinary palette of nude browns. It also includes some golds, almost green hues, and a pink taupe. Again, there are matte and shimmer shades. Dare I say that this palette swatches better than Opposites Attract. But, a test on the eye is truly needed.

Tools

elf Triangular Buffing Brush

Third is the Triangular Buffing Brush. I am including a picture of the brush head below so that you can see what I am talking about. The “triangle” shape is very slight and hardly there at all. However, this brush is super soft and densely packed with a flat top. It is intended to be used to apply liquid or cream products, such as foundation. I do not expect it to leave streaks in your foundation, but I need to use it to be sure.

Face

elf Metallic Flare Highlighters

Fourth are all of the Metallic Flare Highlighters! These are super pretty in the pan because they shine in the light and have a pattern pressed into the powder. White Gold reminds me of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Amerzy Highlighter in the pan. The swatches leave me with something to be desired, as I am expecting these to pack more of a punch. I will not lose hope because they may look bomb on the cheek once applied with a brush.

elf Sheer Blurring Under Eye Primer

Fifth in this elf haul 19 is the Sheer Blurring Under Eye Primer. The product is a lot smaller than my expectations! It claims to smooth fine lines and puffiness while providing a primed base for makeup application. While it looks tinted in the pan, it does apply clear. In swirling my finger in the product it warms up quickly to the touch. My concern is that it may apply with an oily feel, and that makeup will not sit on it well. As with most products in this haul a wear test is needed.

elf Jelly Highlighters

Next is all of the Jelly Highlighters! It seems that the beauty industry is inundated with “jelly” products. Out of all of the jelly items that I am trying, these highlighters are the most “jelly” like because they jiggle when you gently shake the pot. Honestly, they are satisfying to play with! As with most jelly highlighters, the shine is off the charts. These swatches fully dry down in a few minutes, even though they are not blended out. I am curious to see how they apply to the cheekbones, and also how they look mixed into foundation. Dew is a bit too dark for me. There are some good jelly products in my wet n wild 2019 new products haul as well.

elf Luminous Blushes

Here are all of the Luminous Blushes! They are exactly what they sound like- blush with shimmer! I like to say that these have highlighter built in, but you can still wear highlighter with the blushes if you want. Radiant Peach has the most shimmer with a gold reflect.

elf + Matte

Oil Control Lotion

Continuing on with the elf haul 19 I have all of the items from the elf+ Matte line. These are designed to help keep oily skin at bay, so that your makeup stays looking its best. I note that these products smell like tea tree. First is the Oil Control Lotion. You are to apply a dime sized amount all over your face, but it does not state in which part of your routine to do this. It claims to absorb oil on contact while providing light hydration. It applies clear.

Blotting Mist

Here is the Blotting Mist. You are supposed to spray it onto your face during the day to remove excess oil from your makeup, essentially as a touch-up mist. Be sure to shake well before using this product! I really do not understand how a spray can absorb oils just as well as a blotting sheet or touching up with powder.

Oil Control Primer

Here is the Oil Control Primer. It claims to blur pores and to create a smooth base. The formula is clear and feels just like the original Poreless Primer.

Oil Control Mask

Next is the Oil Control Mask. It is a clay mask that you can use up to three times a week. The claims are that it should draw out impurities and excess oil for a clearer complexion. It should be left on for 10 to 15 minutes, and then wiped or washed off.

Blotting Powder

The last product in this elf haul 19 is the Blotting Powder. It is no surprise that you are to apply it to the areas of your face that get oily throughout the day. Since the powder is translucent, there is nothing to swatch. I wonder how it will work when used as a normal setting power. But, why is this powder necessary if elf already has the blotting mist?

We are at the end of my elf haul 19. These products are not only new to me, but also newer to elf’s line in general. I have a lot of trying out makeup to do! I am most excited for the Metallic Flare Highlighters and the eyeshadow palettes. What are your thoughts on this haul? Do you use any of these items? Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

  1. I love Elf! I haven’t tried any of these products, but they all look amazing! The highlighters and blushes look really great! Thanks for sharing your haul! 🙂

    1. Yes, the highlighters and blushes are quite good.If you like elf hauls, I have 18 others to enjoy as well (can you tell that I’m a bit elf obsessed lol). Thanks for reading!

    1. Yess! elf has been really kicking it up a notch over the past year, so this is the time to see what they have to offer. I’m itching for the bite size eyeshadow palettes, but I know they won’t put them on sale for a long time.

  2. I love e.l.f. cosmetics. Cruelty-free, beautiful and affordable…yes please! Thanks for helping me choose a shade of the “jelly” hilighter and we’ll now… every other product you bought;) Great review, I like that you just dive in and to the point, keeping it short yet SWEET! If I may humbly suggest, it’d be great to see swatches (say of the jelly hilighter for example) next to one another on your hand/wrist, it can make comparing shades just a little easier. Also making it easy to distinguish warm, cool, OR neutral tones.

    Keep being awesome!

    1. I’m glad to be able to help you shop! That’s exactly why I’m here. Thank you so much for the suggestion! I’m writing a blog post right now where I’m doing all the swatches together. This is my first time doing it, but it’s good to hear that others find it helpful. Thanks for reading!
