In my quest on finding easy heatless curls, I am testing yet another concept! I watched a video on “big heatless curls” that uses those popular terry spa headbands. This concept has a lot of potential for being comfortable, inexpensive, fast, and effective. I will take you through a tutorial, the products that you need, and the end results. My hair type is fine, thin, and on the shorter side. Sometimes my hair does not like to hold a curl, so get ready for an interesting test.

Big Heatless Waves Tutorial

I have a big head, so I went on quite a shopping exploration to find the right headband. I wanted a soft terry cloth to support drying the hair, but I struggle with headbands that are too tight and that slip off the head. On Amazon I found the ultimate adjustable spa headband! It has an elastic section, plus wire to twist the ends around your head. This is super soft and I cannot feel it when I am sleeping! Other than the headband, you only need a few bobby pins, and damp and brushed hair. Please note, this is different (and easier) than the heatless curling rod headband tutorial.

1. Prep Hair

First, you need to prep your hair for big heatless curls overnight. I started with damp hair after showering that was mostly air dried about 80%. You can spray your hair with a water bottle, or, use a leave-in conditioner spray. You should also comb or brush your hair to remove any tangles. Then, put the headband on top of your head just above your forehead and over your ears.

2. Wrap Hair

Second for big heatless waves, we need to start wrapping our hair. I grabbed a small section on the right side of my head and wrapped it around the headband away from my face. Next, I did the same thing on the left side. To wrap the second piece, grab your first piece along with another small section, and wrap it around. Keep this up on both sides of your head.

3. Secure Ends

Eventually, you will have one strand left on each side of your head. Wrap those strands around the headband. Once you reach the ends, secure them to your head with as many bobby pins as needed. Now, get some beauty sleep to reveal your big heatless curls!

4. Remove & Style

We are at the end of how to get big heatless curls. In the morning, all you need to do is remove your bobby pins and gently unwrap your hair. Since my headband can be unwrapped, I pulled it out of my curls. At this point, style your hair as you would like. You may want to separate the curls with your fingers, or use a hairspray or texturizing spray.

Conclusion

In summary of how to get big loose curls without heat, this method really works! I would not say that my curls are “big” like the volume that is promised, but, I think if you had longer and thicker hair that the effects would be more pronounced. This method is very easy with virutally no learning curve, and my sleep is not disturbed. The final results were so pretty and lasted all day. I loved my hair and I would do this again because it did not add much time to my routine. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
