elf has discontinued a lot of lipstick over the years. Curiously enough, they already have a best-selling line of satin lipsticks. Now we have a second line in magnetic, matte black packaging. I have all shades of the elf O FACE Satin Lipstick and I am doing an in-depth review with swatches. Together, we will find out if these are worth the hype.
Details & Claims
First, I begin with where you can find the lipsticks. Most retailers that carry the brand should have them, but you can only be sure to have access to all 20 shades on elf’s website. These are $9 each, but they are nicely done with a soft touch texture matte package and magnetic closure.
This lipstick line should be comfortable and long-lasting. As the name implies, the finish should be satin with rich pigemntation. The key ingredients are squalane for locking in moisture, and joboba esters for moisturizing and softening effects. Marula oil is also included for overall nourishment. They should be so comfortable that you get a next-to-nothing feel, but a bold look.
To apply, elf recommends that you start by exfoliating your lips. Next, you should line your lips to create a desired shape. I do recommend the elf Love Triangle Lip Filler Liner collection that I have a review on. Finish with your lipstick shade of choice.

I think this entire line is curious, because elf discontinued all of their lipsticks outside of their other satin lipstick line. Yes, you read that right. elf already has best selling line, which you can see in my elf Srsly Satin Lipstick review. They are not discontinued, more so forgotten with this new 20 shade lineup.
I find that these lipsticks are super creamy, delivering bold pigment in one swipe. This means that the need to build up the color is not really needed, but can be done. The finish is truly satin, which means it is halfway between shiny and matte. Yet, it strikes a perfect balance, delivering a luscious sheen without being overly glossy.
However, they will transfer, and that is to be expected. This is not liquid lipstick, so it will not dry down. With that being said, these are very comfortable on the lips and never get dry or crusty. They hold up pretty well with careful eating and drinking, but it is not a problem to re-apply as desired.
One notable feature is the smooth and even color payoff, ensuring that the swatch on the lips matches the shade in the tube flawlessly. The collection’s diverse range of shades provides a palette for every mood and occasion. These are perfectly good drugstore lipsticks.
