It is that time of the year where I get to share one of my favorite blog posts! The wet n wild Fantasy Makers 2020 collection is here, and I look forward to it annually. For whatever reason I am particularly on edge this year about getting my hands on this collection. As usual, I am swatching and reviewing everything, including star ratings and four full-face of wet n wild makeup looks. I have so many notes and details to share this time around. With that being said, I will spare you a lengthy introduction and get straight into the information.
Notes
Before I get into the wet n wild Fantasy Makers 2020 review, I have a lot of notes to share about this collection.
Buying Options
wet n wild has been posting on their Instagram account that this collection is available in-stores at Walmart, Target, Ulta, and Walgreens. They also say you can “always” find these products on their website, too. That has been the case every year but this year. So far, there is only a handful of products on wet n wild’s website. Online buying options are incredibly scarce for the other retailers. I find it very distasteful that you are being forced to go into stores during current events. There should be online options.
Curiously enough, wet n wild released select items from the Fantasy Makers Neon collection on their website under the Halloween section. I did not see this coming. Why are they doing that instead of giving us all of the Halloween items? wet n wild was very adamant about Neon only being available from Walmart, which has been the case up until now.
Also, there is a glow in the dark nail polish available for this collection, but only from Target. I have no Targets where I live, so I am sorry I do not have it, and I am not placing an order for a $1.99 nail polish.
Links
With the above buying situation in mind, all of the links I am sharing in this post are from Walmart. You cannot buy these products online and have them shipped to your home. The only option Walmart has is in-store pickup. I did this for the Fantasy Makers Neon collection and it works very well. They will put your order in a bag and you simply run in and grab it. I know this is unfavorable, so if wet n wild does put these products on their website, I will come back and update this post. I recommend bookmarking this post and joining my email list to be notified.
If you do plan on buying anything from the wet n wild Fantasy Makers 2020 collection, I hope that you will consider using this post. Any time that you buy through The Aesthetic Edge your support enables me to continue to do more content like this.
General Notes
As I say every year with Fantasy Makers, I never purchase the paint pots and palettes, glitters, stencils, etc. I only purchase the items that can be used for everyday makeup. The reason that I skip the costume items is that I will never use them and they will be a total waste. You may be wondering why I am reviewing the gem face masks and and face and body gems, but I did purchase them for Fantasy Makers Neon, and I want to be consistent.
There are many items from this collection that were released in last year’s collection, so I am not buying those again. Below I have a handy list of related posts if you want to see reviews and swatches of the repeat items, as well as past collections in general. Namely, the sponges and multisticks are repeats.
I am disappointed that we are not getting any fun lip colors this year! Usually they add limited edition shades to their various Liquid Catsuit lines, but not this time.
Many of these items are actually repeats from the Fantasy Makers Neon collection. I am also saddened by the lack of innovation. I really wasted my money this year buying this stuff, as it turns out I already have most of everything featured here. At the end of this post I have comparisons where I will share what the repeats are, rather than beat a dead horse with each individual review.
My local Walmart has two identical cardboard displays for this wet n wild Fantasy Makers 2020 collection, and I am buying everything in-store. The display features many products from the everyday collection. wet n wild typically pushes their normal products anyway, and that makes sense since you can use them as the backbone to your makeup look.

wet n wild Fantasy Makers Gem Face Masks
The first products in the wet n wild Fantasy Makers 2020 collection are two Gem Face Masks. Never in my life have I attached gems to my face. I cannot see myself using these, so they are probably a waste of money. How would these stay stuck on your face once they touch your foundation and powder? It would be absurd to not wear face makeup with these. I imagine that most people use eyelash glue. But, then again, these are self-adhesive, so you really should not need to do that. Please tell me how to use these gems in the comments! I dock them in points only due to difficulty, or rather ignorance, in application.
Claims:
- Self-adhesive masks made of iridescent gems
- Adds instant drama and sparkle
- Easy to apply and to remove
Rating: ★★☆☆☆

wet n wild Fantasy Makers Face and Body Gems
Second are four sets of Face and Body Gems. Same idea here as the Gem Face Masks- I am still wondering how these will self-adhere to makeup without using eyelash glue. These actually say they are reusable, but I would think that eyelash glue or just your foundation/powder would ruin them. I probably will not be using these.
Claims:
- Adds multi-dimension to all fantasy looks
- Easy-to-use
- One-time use
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Ghostfriends 4 Life
Fairy Freight
Bone to Be Wild
Cauldron Crew

wet n wild Fantasy Makers False Lashes
Third are four pairs of False Lashes. wet n wild’s false lashes always have a cheap appearance, and these are no different with their thick bands and spikey wisps. These styles can definitely be fun for a special occasion or for costume purposes, but otherwise they do not scream quality. I am used to that with their lashes.
Claims:
- High-quality synthetic lashes
- Adds texture, length and volume for intense drama
- Easy-to-use strips with a flexible band for a comfortable wear
- Suitable for all eye shapes
Rating: ★★★☆☆

wet n wild Fantasy Makers Glitter Gels
Fourth are four varieties of Glitter Gels. I first discovered them in the Fantasy Makers Neon collection, and I am obsessed! I am not even mad about the repeats because these are worth the repurchase. I consider these to be like body glitter for an adult. The formula is a clear gel that is not sticky or tacky in any way. While the swatches did not fully dry down, when you pat these onto the face or body with your fingers, they do dry down and last all day. Best of all, you can apply these over powder and they look great! I attribute that to the gel formula. I already wear these in real life for non-costume looks. My favorite way to use them is by applying them over the highlighter on my cheekbones, or anywhere on/above/below the eye.
In the swatches it is almost comical that you cannot see a difference between Black Magic and Fab-boo-lous. However, Black Magic is holographic, while Fab-boo-lous is silver.
Claims:
- Super-concentrated, hyper-reflective glitter gel for face and body
- Dries quickly
- Easy-to-use formula
Rating: ★★★★★

Ghouls Gold
Fab-boo-lous

wet n wild Fantasy Makers Colored Mascaras
Fifth in the wet n wild Fantasy Makers 2020 collection are three tubes of Colored Mascaras. While Cobalt Blue and Purple are repeats, White is brand new. The long wand is a highly flexible silicone with short bristles. On first glance you would think the wand will do a terrible job of separating and lengthening, but my makeup look coming later in this post proves otherwise. I am 100% obessed with the white mascara and I already have a backup! It coats the lashes with so much pigment, and with surprising length and separation. Cobalt Blue and Purple do not pack the same punch, which is unfortunate. Swatching these does not work out well, as they are best applied to the eye.
I have a thing for white makeup, especially white eyeliner. I say that we make white mascara mainstream! On one hand, it is just makeup, and we can wear whatever we want. But, I still want to normalize white mascara. I really want to do a white look that features this mascara, the lipstick coming up soon, and eyeliner.
Claims:
- Unique applicator lengthens and thickens every lash
- Fun-colored formula
Rating: ★★★★☆

wet n wild Fantasy Makers megalast Matte Lip Colors
Do you remember the release of the megalast Matte Lip Color line from the 2020 new products? The packaging is totally a ripoff of the Pat McGrath lipsticks, but I love it anyway. Six out of seven of these shades are repeats that come out every year, and I am buying them again simply because they are in the new packaging. Does that sound crazy? It definitely is, considering I cannot find any differences in this formula from the classic megalast lipsticks.
The first new shade here is Graveyard, which is a pale lilac shade. I like this lipstick a lot and I plan to wear it in real life, outside of Halloween.
On wet n wild’s website they have a second new shade called “Jack-o-Lantern” that I originally thought was only available on their website, but I finally found it at Walmart. It is a rusty orange that is perfect for daily wear. Update 10/26/20: I got my hands on Jack-o-Lantern! This post has been updated below with a picture of the tube and a swatch.
This formula is perfectly good from the drugstore. It is comfortably matte, buildable, and full coverage. I can carefully eat and drink with them on and do minor touchups.
*** I can only link to a few of the lipsticks. If more become available online, I will update the post. ***
Claims:
- Full-coverage color in one swipe
- High-pigment, long-lasting nourishing formula
- Creamy, comfy, and lightweight all-day wear
- Wont cake, feather or bleed
Rating: ★★★★★

wet n wild Fantasy Makers Glitter Liners
Next up are four Glitter Liners. The formula itself is a clear liner with glitter in it, but not that much pigmentation. These are best used layered over a solid eyeliner, or used to add sparkle to an eyeshadow look, but of course you can wear them on their own. They do dry down and wear all day without movement. I come to find with these that the bristles of the brushes are commonly messed up and stick out in odd directions. So, if you are looking for precision, that really is not an option.
I do have to dispute the water-resistant claim. I washed the swatches off simply by washing my hands.
Claims:
- Buildable liner that contains super-fine glitter
- Long-wear
- Quick-drying
- Water-resistant
Rating: ★★★☆☆

wet n wild Fantasy Makers Highlighter
There are two Highlighters in this wet n wild Fantasy Makers 2020 collection, and the shades are brand new. Both of these shades look fabulous on my pale skin. In the makeup looks coming up soon you can clearly see how my skin is glowing with these. The formula is totally that of the famous megaglo Highlighting Powders. I love both of these and I will continue to use them outside of Halloween because they are beyond gorgeous.
Claims:
- Silky smooth and loaded with pigment
- Infused with micro-fine pearl pigments
- Baked powder formula infused with ultra-reflective pearl pigments that gives skin a radiant glow
Rating: ★★★★★

wet n wild Fantasy Makers 10 Pan Shadow Palettes
I am ending the wet n wild Fantasy Makers 2020 collection with the 10 Pan Shadow Palettes. The eyeshadow palettes are what I look forward to the most every year from a collectors standpoint, and they are brand new. Below I will get into comments on the individual palettes, but I want to discuss them as a group first. These eyeshadows are the quality that is expected from wet n wild, and are consistent, for the most part. They swatch well, and there is little to no fallout or kick-up. None of the shades have names, so I refer to them as the color that they are.
Claims:
- Powerfully pigmented, butter-soft formula glides on easily
- Easy to blend formula that can be used wet or dry
Rating: ★★★★★
Mummy of the Year
There are two teal shades in Mummy of the Year, one that is matte, and one that is mildly shimmery. They pretty much look the same on the eye with little distinction. I am disappointed by the swatch of the shimmer mint shade. Otherwise, this is a solid palette. Please note the bottom transition shade is similar to my skin tone, so the swatch does not show up well.
Hallow-queen
I have no complaints about this palette. The light purple shade is curious, though. In the pan you expect it to be more pigmented than it is. It actually applies as a sheer purple that almost looks wet on the eye. While it does not apply as expected, it is pretty cool and I want to layer with it another time.
Pick Your Poison
Pick Your Poison just may be my favorite palette because of the warm tones. Everything swatches well, so again, no complaints.
Boogie Nights
This palette produces the most kick-up in the pan, but it is not terrible. Man, these shadows are pigmented! The only disappointing shades are the neon lime green and mint. I was really hoping that they would pack a bigger punch.

Looks
I am doing four full-face of wet n wild looks for this post, featuring Fantasy Makers 2020 products! I am basing each look off of a 10 Pan Shadow Palette. None of these looks are meant to be a character or anything in particular. This is just me playing around with makeup.
#1: Boogie Nights
The first look features the Boogie Nights palette, and it may just be my favorite look here. It gives me bird vibes for whatever reason, most likely due to the lashes. I think these are the biggest fake lashes I have ever worn! This palette is incredibly pigmented and wonderful. My only critique is the purple shade is a bit patchy, but I am not mad because purple eyeshadow is incredibly hard to get right. Look at that highlighter glowing like crazy!
Please note I am using one non-wet n wild product, which is the Kiss Lash Glue Liner. I really wanted to try the liner out, plus wet n wild does not carry lash glue. The Lash Glue Liner makes another appearance later on.

Start the eyeshadow look by applying the pink shade onto the crease and bring it down below the lower lash line about half way across. Next, apply the purple around the outside border of the pink. Now, apply the orange shade onto the eyelid, then the red onto the outer-v. Use the metallic pink/purple to highlight the brow bone and inner corner. Line the lower lash line with the red and the orange. Finish the look by generously applying the Glitter Gel in Bone Zone to the inner corner.
#2: Hallow-queen
This look unintentionally became a purple smokey eye, but I like it a lot! The eyeshadow is totally inspired by Mimi from Blushy Darling. She did a Teal Fantasy Smokey Eye technique where you use an eyeliner in the outer-v under your eyeshadow. I just had to try it out. Also, can we please take a moment to appreciate the white mascara? It is beyond freaky and makes me think of spiders. Although, you would think that black mascara would bring thoughts of spiders more.

Start this eyeshadow look by applying the shimmery light purple to the crease. Next, apply the shimmer purple onto the eyelid. Now, using the Breakup Proof Waterproof Retractible Eyeliner in Blackest Black, start lining the eyelid from the center outward. Also be sure to draw a V with the eyeliner in the outer-v. Use the black eyeshadow to blend the eyeliner V out. Now, apply some of the eyeliner along the lower lash line half way across, but diffuse and blend it out with whatever black eyeshadow is left on your brush. Apply the shimmer purple onto the lower lash line on the other half where there is no eyeliner. Highlight the brow bone and inner corner with the pink/purple shimmer shade. Finish this look by applying the Glitter Gel in Fab-boo-lous onto the brow bone and under the eye where the eyeshadow ends.
#3: Mummy of the Year
My least favorite look in this post is this one. I had a peacock in mind when selecting the teals and purples, but nothing went right for me. A major mistake is packing on the glitter gel and glitter liner on the center of the eyelid. You can clearly see it displaced the eyeshadow, and I did not even get any shimmer out of it. Using the gold eyeshadow as the brow bone and inner corner highlight is a bust because the shade is too dark on me. Oh well, thank goodness makeup washes off! That gold highlighter is glowing, and that is a plus.

To begin this eyeshadow look, set the eyelid with the bottom transition shade. Next, apply the matte teal shade in the crease. Now, apply the shimmer teal onto the eyelid, but leave a blank space in the middle to do a halo eye. I applied a combination of the Glitter Gel in Ghouls Gold and the Glitter Liner in Rich Witch on the middle of the eyelid in the blank space. Then, line the lower lash line with the dark brown. Use more of the matte teal and line below the dark brown. Highlight the brow bone and inner corner with the gold shade. To finish the look, use the Glitter Liner in Rich Witch and line under the eye below where the eyeshadow stops. Bring the Glitter Liner up and wing it out below the wing of your black eyeliner.
#4: Pick Your Poison
The last look is an ode to red eyeshadow, because it is one of my all-time-favorite looks to rock. Warm eyeshadows are definitely my thing. This look is somewhat vampy and edgy. The off white shade produces a fair amount of kick up in the pan. I did get a bit carried away with the bronzer in this look! What Shady Beaches is their darkest and most intensely pigmented bronzer.

To create the eye look, set the eyelid with the off white shade. Next, apply the brick red into the crease somewhat low so that it goes onto the eyelid a little bit. Follow up by using the brown shade lightly in the crease, just above the brick red. Pack the vibrant red onto the eyelid. Apply a mixture of the black and burgundy into the outer-v. By dipping your brush repeatedly in the black and burgundy shades, the burgundy will help soften the black. Then, apply the brick red along the lower lash line. I also put a hit of the black in the lower lash line at the outer corner so that I can connect it to the darkness in the outer-v. Finish this look off by applying the golden yellow shimmer shade onto the inner corner and the brow bone to highlight. I am achieving the double eyeliner wing by applying one stroke of the Glitter Liner in Bat Your Eye under my regular eyeliner wing.
Bonus! Product Comparisons
If you have read any of my previous wet n wild collection posts, you know that I always provide bonus comparisons. wet n wild is famous for re-releasing past products under a new name and in a new package. So, I typically do side-by-side swatches and I tell you what is a repeat. That way if you already have the old item, you can save your money by not being tricked into buying the new. However, the list of repeats is so long, I am creating a list only. Doing all these swatches will unproductively make this post longer, which will probably do the opposite of adding value.
With this list you can cross-reference the product shade names, as well as the collection it is from, so that you do not buy any repeats. This is a great post to bookmark! I will provide some links to the blog posts where you can find the original swatches and reviews of said items. (FM = Fantasy Makers).

Conclusion
To conclude the wet n wild Fantasy Makers 2020 collection, between the Fantasy Makers Neon collection and the Fantasy Makers 2019 Halloween collection, nearly all of these products are repeats. I am severely disappointed by this fact, and it pains me that I even need to say this. But, I need to keep it real here. Do not be like me and waste my money! There is no reason to buy these products all over again unless there is something you really like and want to stock up on. However, these products are perfectly good quality from wet n wild, and Halloween would never be the same without them. My favorites are the eyeshadow palettes, highlighters, glitter gels, white mascara, and the lilac lipstick. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
What are you dressing up as for Halloween?

I’m drawn to the highlighters, but I already decluttered pruple one from previous years so I don’t want to go down that road again. Palettes look cute though, I might pick up the green one if we ever get them here in Europe. I still haven’t tried their new formula.
I really don’t get much use out of the funny colored highlighters either. The palettes are really good!
I need the Glitter Gels!!! I see shiny and I buy ahahah
RIGHT?!?! My thoughts exactly girl
I want the glitter gels and highlighters. I like the Hallow-queen and Mummy of the year looks.

Thank you! The glitter gels and highlighters are great choices.
Just wanted to let you know Jack-o-lantern is on the walmart website and will tell you its location
Thank you!! My local store and the other about 30 mins away from me is sold out of the lipstick 🙁 I’ll probably grab it from wet n wild’s website as an add-on to a future purchase.
Updating this comment: I found Jack-o-Lantern! The sold out display mysteriously had two tubes of it, so I bought one. I have update the post with the swatch!
Ulta is havine BOGO with the new Holiday Wet n Wild collection Star Lux
Thank you! I’ve already ordered the Star Lux collection (blog post coming in the future). One palette is not available yet but wet n wild hopes to add stock by the weekend!
I want to try the face gems , they look really cool .
They do! You’ll have to let me know how well they stick on the face.
I searched two Walmarts this week for the Jack o Lantern with no luck. ☹️ I’m staying outside of the U.S. and didn’t go to my hometown until after Halloween so of course everything was sold out but I found a single Haunted Hills highlighter left over for under $2! I couldn’t believe my luck bc it was misplaced in the permanent wnw display! Jack o Lantern should be renamed and made permanent but rn I’m happy with my highlighter! 🤍
Wow that’s great luck! You’re going to love that highlighter. Jack o Lantern is a great everyday shade. I would have used it in a makeup look if it was easier to find.
