The year is almost over and guiding us into a Play! by Sephora November 2019 review. Beauty for self-care is the theme of this box. The samples should enable you to treat yourself to makeup, haircare, and skin care that is relaxing and picked just for you. For the first time ever, there is no Play Pass in this box, which is the card that gets you 50 bonus points when you shop from Sephora. I am not sure if this is a mistake or just the new thing. Either way, time to get into the unboxing.

Nars Lipstick in Tolede

The first product in this Play! by Sephora November 2019 review is Nars Lipstick in the shade Tolede. I love the pink-rose hue of this lipstick. The finish is satin, and the formula is creamy and not draggy. It features a buildable, medium coverage.

Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30

Second is Dr. Jart’s Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment. It claims to reduce redness of the skin as you blend it onto your face. You will notice that the formula is light green, but it should turn beige as you blend. It has a medicinal or herbal scent. The directions for use vary if you read the jar, Sephora’s website, or the Play! directions. I am reading that it should be applied after cleansing, after serum, or after moisturizer, so I am not sure what step of your routine that this product really falls into.

Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow

Third is Glamglow’s Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow. It is a repeat from the March 2017 box. This is a nude-colored moisturizer that has shimmer or highlighter in it, which supplies the “glow” to your skin. It smells sort of like dessert or something sweet. You are to apply this all over the face before your foundation, or you can wear it alone.

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium

Fourth is Black Opium perfume by Yves Saint Laurent, which is a repeat from the June 2017 box. In all my years of unboxing samples, this perfume bottle is throwing me for a loop. What I am doing is bending the tip until it breaks at one of the lines in the plastic. This is a horrible idea because perfume went all over my chair and into my mouth! I have wasted almost this entire sample because there are no instructions on how to open it. Anyway, this is a warm and spicy perfume with notes of black coffee, white flowers, and vanilla.

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey

Fifth is Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in Black Honey which is a repeat from the January 2017 box. To be honest, I still have the original sample and it is not used. Almost Lipstick is not my cup of tea because it is sheer with a glossy or shiny finish. When I wear lipstick I like a full coverage punch of color. Clinique claims the Black Honey hue suits all skin tones and matches any outfit with its sheer wash of berry.

Lancome Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Mascara

The last item in this Play! by Sephora November 2019 review is Lancome’s Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Mascara. I have this sample in my collection already, so I know that it is a repeat, but I cannot find it in my blog posts. It claims to feature an ‘S’ shaped wand that will coat each lash from root to tip, but the sample has a standard wand. That makes it hard to see if the mascara does it’s job when they do not give us the real wand.

In summary of this Play! by Sephora November 2019 review, all of these samples repeats, primarily from 2017 boxes, with the exception of two. Repeats make me sad because I want to test out and review new items. I do not see how these items fit with the theme, except for the color correcting treatment. My favorite sample in this box is the lipstick, but the color correcting treatment is intriguing. Do you subscribe to this box? Are any of these samples a part of your routine? Please let me know in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
