The holidays always restock my beauty stash, which means the beginning of the year gets overloaded with empties! In this January 2024 empties review I have a whopping 30 items to share you. That is right, I almost hit one empty per day. What a stark contrast from much of 2023, where I battled through hard to use up products. I will be taking you through everything, and linking to anything that is not discontinued. Find out what I think is worth the repurchase.

January 2024 Empties At A Glance

• 30 products reviewed at rapid fire.

• Many skincare products including plenty of masks.

• Affordable makeup and top brands.

• Popular and fancy drugstore brands.

Skincare

I am starting the January 2024 empties review with 12 skincare items outside of the sets that I will discuss later.

  • Soap & Glory Face Soap & Clarity Vitamin C Facial Wash: I find that this face wash gives a perfectly good cleanse, and it does not break me out. My boyfriend’s review is that it really feels like it is deeply cleaning and healing his skin in some way. I have three more bottles to use up!
  • Soap & Glory Puffy Eye Attack Under-eye Brightening Hydrogel Patches: These patches stay on the face perfectly, and they do hydrate the under eye with some temproary brightening effects. They are out of stock everywhere. I normally get this in gift sets.
  • Patchology Serve Chilled Rose Lips Hydrating Lip Gels (2): These lip gels will stay on if you move carefully and do not talk. I find that they give a light level of temporary hydration to the lips, but, they are not a replacement for lip balm. I have no plans to buy them again.
  • Patchology Serve Chilled Rose Eye Gels (2): These eye gels stay on the face nicely and they hydrate the under eye area. They are not so much for brightening. I have no reason to buy them again.
  • elf Daily Hydration Moisturizer: This moisturizer does effectively hydrate the skin all day. It layers perfectly well with other skincare and makeup. It does not stop the production of oils in my t-zone, which is normal for cream type moisturizers. I will not buy it again.
  • ingredients Avocado Mud Mask: I am not sure if this mask does anything, but, it is an enjoyable mud mask for spa time at home. I have no plans to repurchase.
  • Freeman Nourishing Cream Mask: This cream mask does not dry down, but it will hydrate the skin. I am not sure that I see any other benefits. It is not wow-worthy enough to buy again.
  • Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream: This moisturizer hydrates all day and layers good with skincare and makeup. I appreciate that it has no fragrance or dyes! It definitely does not help with my oil production, it is one of the least effective moisturizers for that on my skin. This is not for combination skin people, but, to be fair, it is marketed for dry skin. I have one more tube that is almost done.
  • wet n wild photofocus Makeup Remover Stick: This is an oil-based stick that easily swipes accross the skin. It does not irritate my skin or eyes, nor does it have a scent or taste. It easily and effectively removes all makeup! The drawback is that it does not last long. Between how much you get and how soft it is, this stick lasted me under a month. I do not find that economical enough to buy again, but it does work! I use it with a resuable makeup remover cloth.
  • wet n wild Pampered Lip Scrub: This is a limited-edition rose flavor of their scrubs. Their formula is effective at exfoliating the lips. It has the right amount of grit to get the job done, but it is not painful. I will not repurchase this exact one, as I have plenty of their other flavors.

My Beauty Spot Essence Face Masks

Next in the skincare section of this Janaury 2024 empties review, I am working on the My Beauty Spot Essence Face Mask set that I got for Christmas 2023. Below I have a list of the ones that I empted so far, which is about half of the set. They give you enough for two uses, or you can do a generous single application. The thing that strikes me funny is, while each mask has a different key ingredient/benefit, they are ALL the same. I mean, each mask is a white cream with the same texture and scent. I cannot say that I see anything happening by using these masks. Mask users pretty much use products like this hoping we are getting some sort of benefit, and that the brand is not lying about the ingredients. While this set is not available for purchase, it would not be worth the rebuy.

  • Avocado
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Vitamin C
  • Charcoal
  • Coconut

Inc.redible Masks

I am also working on a kit of Inc.redible Masks that I got in my after Christmas 2023 haul. There is so much more for me to try! I did a focus on their hand and foot masks. Let me tell you, they are SO well done. They are made of a plastic material that reminds me of the packaging that comes on women’s period products. All of the wetness is contained inside of the masks. You slip the foot ones on like booties, then use an adhesive tab to secure them. I put my socks over them, then walk around and do what I need to do. The hand masks are worn like gloves. The claim on the front of the package that you can use your phone is true! While the hand masks do have the adhesive tab, that is more of a design flaw. It is hard to peel and stick them when you have the masks on. Otherwise, the formula effectively hydrates and there is no mess. I will use a towel to dab the excess off to make rubbing the product into the skin easier. The scents and prints are quite delightful. All in all, I am impressed so far.

Haircare

Now in this January 2024 empties review I am moving onto three hair care items.

  • ARKME The Future Youth Treatment Mask: I think that the name and packaging of this product is deceptive, as it sounds like a skincare mask. This is actually a hair conditioner. It does fine as a standard, basic condtioner. I did not get any special or noteworthy benefits to cause me to repurchase.
  • Bed Head Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo: This dry shampoo is lightweight and effective, while not leaving much, if any, white cast on the hair. This is a good one and worth the repurchase! I will continue working on the other dry shampoos in my stash.
  • Philip B Peppermint Avocado Shampoo: This shampoo has a lightweight gel formula. It effectively cleanses the hair, acting as a basic shampoo in that way. The peppermint makes my scalp feel cool and tingly on the first use, and the sensation lasts for about 30 minutes. Subsequent uses after that give me little to no sensation, as if my scalp has become used to or desensitized to it. There are no special benefits to make it want to buy it again.

Makeup

Third in this January 2024 empties review is three makeup items.

  • elf Flawless Concealer: While this concealer is discontinued, the formula reminds me a lot of their Flawless Satin Foundation, which is one of my favorites. It is so skin-like and easy to blend for a natural look. It gives a high medium coverage and I easily reached for it in my daily routine.
  • elf Makeup Mist & Set: This is elf’s OG setting spray and it does a great job of setting your makeup with a fine mist. It has no particular finish. It may extend wear time a little, but nothing too crazy. This is a dependable and affordable option. I have too many setting sprays to use up, so I will not replace this.
  • Ioni Brow Pencil: You can find these brow pencils at Dollar Tree. They are basic, sharpenable brow pencils. The formula is not too waxy, but enough to give some grip. It is easy to glide across the brows, and the color match is fine. This is a good budget friendly option, again, if you want something basic without the wow factor. I have enough brow products that I do not need to repurchase.

Body/Fragrance

Last is three body related items.

  • Lyrd Bouquet De Freesia: This perfume has the most beautiful floral scent that is playful and feminine. It is like a bouquet of flowers, but done in a tasteful way. I am normally not impressed enough to repurchase a fragrance, but I would absolutely go for the full size.
  • Soap & Glory Hand Food: This is one of my favorite hand lotions because the formula is thick and luxurious, yet it absorbs into the skin easily. It really does give lasting hydration. I get this in gift sets so I do not buy it on its own.
  • Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter: I noticed that the packaging, as well as the formula, has changed! It is now more of a lightweight lotion with toned down fragrance instead of the thick body butter formula. How disappointing! It works, but the original formula is better. I have another tub to use up, and that one has the original formula.

Conclusion

In conclusion of this January 2024 empties review, a few of my favorites are here. I was surprised by the perfume sample, as well as the inc.redidble masks that I tried so far. As February rolls on, I will continue working on the masks sets featured here. A lot of these other items work but do not necessarily make sense for me or my needs. I am confident that I am going to smash through some moisturizer and face wash this year. I can normally finish my face mask stash yearly and run out. There are some more makeup items coming around soon. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
