It seems as though minimal, or no-makeup-makeup looks are here to stay! One of my favorite ways to accomplish this task is with natural bronzed makeup. What this means is, keeping everything light, simple, and sheer, along with bronze tones for that sun-kissed look. The end result makes you appear to be radiant and healthy, while leaving people wondering if you are wearing any makeup at all. This tutorial and look highlights my favorite products to get the job done, with various options tailored to your desired outcome as we go step by step.
Natural Bronzed Makeup Tutorial
Primer
First I have a variety of primer options to start your natural bronzed makeup. This look is done best with luminous skin for a healthy and natural look. If you want to go that route, I recommend any wet n wild primefocus Primer Serum, or the Nyx Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Radiant Perfecting Face Primer. If you prefer a long-lasting, makeup-extending base, then you are headed for matte options. My ride-or-dies are the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and the Alix Avien Primary Pro Matte Primer. I give a killer review on the latter in my Alix Avien review!
In my look below I went with the Nyx!
Base, Foundation, and Concealer
Second for this natural bronzed makeup look we are working on the base, or the canvas. To add more luminosity, but incredibly sheer coverage, the elf Halo Glow Liquid Filter is a must. I apply one light layer over the face. This product is highly versatile in use! You might want to mix it with your foundation instead of wearing it as a base layer, or, wear it as your foundation. You can see it in action in my elf Halo Glow review.
Second, for foundation, I use the Loreal True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum. This sheer serum foundation looks like skin, plumps and hydrates, all while allowing the elf product to glow through. Best of all, it does not need set with powder, unless you so desire. I am obsessed with this foundation and you can read more in my Loreal True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum review.
For concealer, keeping the sheer and lightweight theme going is a must. But, you can always skip this step. I go for the Loreal True Match Eye Cream In a Concealer for under my eyes. This will brighten, and a little goes a long way, yet it still looks like your real skin.
I apply everything here with a damp sponge in light layers.
Powder
If you want a setting powder for this routine, one of my all time favorites is the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder because it sets well, and blurs with a soft focus and long-lasting wear. This also bakes incredibly well. For me, baking my under eyes and smile lines is a requirement, which is the only thing that I used it for in this tutorial.
Brows
For this natural bronze makeup tutorial, I want the brows to look like yours, but better. To get a fluffy, natural look, aim for a clear product to add hold. Some amazing, yet dirt cheap options are the wet n wild megaclear Brow & Lash Mascara, Nyx Control Freak Eyebrow Gel, and the elf Soap Brow. My favorite skinny pencil is the Haus Labs The Edge Precision Brow Pencil for color match, ease of use, and hair-like strokes.
elf also makes another clear setting product that you might want to try. You can get the details in my elf Soap Brow vs. Brow Lift comparison.
Complexion
Maybe “complexion” is not the best term for this part of the tutorial, but, this product is the superstar that inspired the entire look, and we will use it a lot. This is the Natasha Denona Bronze Face Glow Palette. Remember how I said you do not have to set the Loreal foundation with powder? That is great because this palette contains creams, yet the powders will glide well over the foundation.
For my bronze look I use the bronzer powder below my cheek bones, to contour the nose, and on the high points of the forehead. Then, I use the cream blush as, well, blush. I use the powder highlight on my nose, because that area is finicky with creams sticking well. I finish the face portion by highlighting the high points of my cheekbones and cupid’s bow with the cream highlighter by using my fingers.
This palette also makes the eye look! A word of caution- the creams will crease on the eye. I like to use the bronzer powder lightly in the crease, and along the lower lash line. In this tutorial I tried the cream highlight on the eyelid, then the powder highlight in the inner corner and on the brow bone. Sadly, it did crease. But, there you have it! A quick and light natural bronze eyeshadow look that takes minutes.
Setting Spray
I am opting for a long-wearing setting spray that provides a natural finish (not matte or dewy). Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray is the MVP. It does come in dewy and matte versions. Or, you can use any spray you have on hand. You might even want to skip the spray entirely!
Eye Makeup Look
I like to add a bit more to the eyes, and I thought you might, too. If you want to use an eyeliner, a more natural look is a pencil that you can easily smudge out. Brown eyeliners always give a softer effect. The good news is, wet n wild has both black and brown available in their Breakup Proof Waterproof Retractable Eyeliner range. I used the brown shade and smudged it with a brush, again, applied in light layers.
For mascara, I say use whatever you have open. That is what I did! You do not need anything special or over-the-top. However, I do have a list of the best drugstore mascaras if you want some recommendations.
Lips
The second superstar for this natural bronzed makeup tutorial is the Nyx Afterglow Lip Balm in Laguna. It is a lovely golden brown shade made to match their famous Laguna bronzer. The pigment is sheer and enhances the look of your natural lips, as you get to enjoy the benefits of a balm. If you want to use a lip liner, an affordable complimentary shade is the elf Love Triangle Lip Filler Liner in Soft Brown. I did use the liner.
Below you can see the results of following this natural bronzed makeup tutorial! This is a great daily go-to if you are someone that does not desire a heavy or colorful look. It wears so radiantly to enhance your natural beauty.
Bronze Natural Makeup Look Frequently Asked Questions – FAQs:
Let’s end with some frequently asked questions on a bronze natural makeup look:
How can I make bronze makeup look natural?
You can make bronze makeup look natural by working in light layers. Aim to use products that have a sheer, buildable finish, along with a natural, healthy glow. This way, you can look bronzed and tan, but still leave others wondering if you are actually wearing makeup.
How do I make my makeup look bronzed?
You can make your makeup look bronzed simply by using bronzer that is not orange-toned, or muddy on the skin. Apply it in light layers to the area of the face where the sun can naturally linger and give you a real tan. Opting for a bronzer with some glow, or luminous base products, also adds to the effect.
What does bronze makeup look like?
Bronze makeup looks like skin that has been kissed by the sun. Think about how you look after a day at the beach! You achieve this look by using warm bronzers that give that golden look on the high points of the face.

Conclusion
In conclusion of this natural bronzed makeup look and tutorial, it does not take many products, or a lot of time, to achieve a light makeup look. This tutorial goes hand-in-hand with my skinimalism guide, which is using skincare-infused makeup products to get that no-makeup look. The key here is avoiding orange bronzer, and lightly layering sheer products that add luminosity to the skin. Let me know what you think about this look in the comments! Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
