I am compiling my loves into this list of best drugstore mascara for feathery lashes. I stand behind all of these mascaras, and I predict you will have better lash days in your future.

Prep & Prime

We need to discuss prepping the lashes for mascara application! I always start by curling my lashes, otherwise they stick out straight. Next, I apply The Loreal Voluminous Primer. It is the only mascara primer that I know of that actually enhances any mascara and makes it look that much better.

What I Look for in Mascara

To give some context on my selections it is helpful to know what I look for in mascaras for them to make the cut. I want bold lashes and steer far away from a subtle or natural look. A good mascara should lengthen, separate, add volume, and otherwise make the lashes look feathery. I am looking for drama and that false lash look. None of these mascaras get flakey on me or rub off onto my skin.

As an add on to this topic, I recommend my roundup of the top selling mascaras on Amazon. There are definitely some repeats in both of these lists, beause all of these drugstore mascara are tried and true.

Three out of four of these mascaras feature hourglass-shaped wands. Those types of mascaras usually provide long, full, voluminous, feathery results. Please note I am not opening all of the mascaras for pictures because the tubes are new and I do not want the formulas to dry out before I can use them.

The Mascaras

Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise

This is often marketed as a dupe for Too Faced’s Better than Sex. While I have never tried the high-end counterpart, visually they look similar. All of the hype that you hear on this mascara is true, and I like it over anything else I have tried from Loreal.

Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift

The wand is a bit larger than some mascaras, but it still does a lovely job of bringing on the feathery, false lash effects. I cannot say if it is truly a replacement for a professional lash lift, which is a bit far reaching, but it does its job effectively.

Essence Lash Prince False Lash Effect Mascara

This is the only mascara in this bunch that does not have an hourglass wand. Rather, it is tapered by going from thick to thin. This mascara is a perfect example of not needing to spend very much to get an exceptional mascara.

Maybelline Lash Sensational

This has a unique formula. For the first week or two it is very wet and makes your lashes look like a hot mess. Do not give up on her too early! Once it it hits its prime, this stuff is the real deal. All of the other mascaras listed here have a formula that is ready to go right out of the gate.

Shop The Mascaras

All four of these mascaras deliver and are dependable. Best of all, they are highly affordable, with the cheapest starting at $4.99. Who needs false lashes on a daily basis when you have these babies waiting in the wings? What other mascaras should be added to this list? Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
