New releases from wet n wild are my favorite type of post to create. It is time for the wet n wild 2020 new products! I recall at the end of 2018 and rolling into 2019 that wet n wild had a staggered release of 2019 products. Huge bunches of items got dropped randomly which makes it hard to keep track of what you want to buy. Here in 2020 all of the products are being released at one time in a no-nonsense way. I am providing my honest reviews, swatches, first impressions, and even some experience and research on the FULL line. By the end of this post you will know exactly what you want to buy, and what you need to skip. Time to begin!

wet n wild Fast Dry Nail Colors

The first items in the wet n wild 2020 new products are eight shades of Fast Dry Nail Color. Fast Dry is not a new line. My local Dollar General’s carry a fine selection and have been doing so for a while. wet n wild is releasing these eight new shades onto their website only. Also, Five Below is now carrying a small assortment of Fast Dry Nail Colors on an end cap of new 2020 items. Their colors are different from the online assortment. They may even been different than the everyday Dollar General line, but I need to see them side-by-side to be sure. Here I am only featuring the wet n wild online colors. The claims are that this formula dries in 60 seconds, is streak free, and features the manicurve brush.

Second are the megalast Matte Lip Colors. There are 13 shades total, and I really like the package design with the gold plastic lips. wet n wild already has a line of megalast lipsticks, but I think this is the revamp. These claim to provide full coverage in one swipe, to be long lasting, highly pigmented, creamy, comfy, lightweight, and will not cake, feather, or bleed. Per my swatches I can say that these are creamy, full coverage in one swipe, and highly pigmented with a velvet matte finish. I need to wear these on the lips to test the other claims.

wet n wild megalast High Shine Lip Colors

Third are the megalast High Shine Lip Colors. A variant of the matte line shown above, these 13 lipsticks claim to nourish the lips with buildable coverage that will not cake, feather, or bleed. They also claim to be creamy, comfy, lightweight, and to glide on effortlessly. Per my swatches I agree that they are shiny with buildable coverage and a creamy formula. I need to wear these on the lips to test the other claims.

wet n wild primefocus Primer Serum

Fourth is the primefocus Primer Serum, which is wet n wild’s first primer serum in their everyday line. I am a huge fan of the primer serum from the Rebel Rose collection because it works well. In comparing the ingredients between the two serums, they have a few ingredients in common, but overall they are different. This serum claims to blur, refine, and hydrate with no greasy residue and a lightweight feel. Of course, it claims to make your makeup last longer. In my swatch you can see the light glow it provides to the skin once blended in.

wet n wild megalast Breakup Proof Liquid Eyeliner

Fifth from the wet n wild 2020 new products is the megalast Breakup Proof Liquid Eyeliner. It does not have a shade name, but it is a solid black. Some say it dries with a shiny finish, but my swatch is not that bad. It claims to last 16 hours with intense pigment and the ability to create both thick and thin lines. Additionally, it boasts a tank delivery system so that you get a perfect flow of product. Since it is called Breakup “Proof” it also has a list of “proofs” that it will stand up against:

• Water proof
• Smudge proof
• Humidity proof
• Flake proof
• Cry proof
• Breakup proof

I do believe that the size of the tip will be easy to maneuver on the eye, but keep in mind that I am experienced with doing eyeliner.

wet n wild perfectpout Day Lip Treatment

Next is the perfectpout Day Lip Treatment. It has no shade name, but it does feature a grapefruit mint flavor. The claims are that it relieves dryness, deeply hydrates, nourishes, soothes, and seals in moisture. Oddly enough, it also says that it has the lasting power of a stain but the comfort and shine of a gloss. In my swatch the color is so sheer that there really is not any to call it a ‘stain,’ but the shine is glossy. This is basically a potted lip balm or mask.

Here is the perfectpout Sleeping Lip Mask. Again, there is no shade name, but it does have a lavender flavor. To me, it is very similar to the day lip treatment. It claims to hydrate, moisturize, nourish, and smooth the lips. You are to apply a generous layer to your lips. Again, the swatch gives a lot of shine but little to no color.

wet n wild megalast Breakup Proof Retractable Eyeliners

Continuing on with the wet n wild 2020 new products, I have all three shades of the Breakup Proof Retractable Eyeliners. These claim to be silky, lightweight, comfy, and to glide on without tugging for 16 hour wear. I cannot see a difference between Blackest Black and Black. These also have a list of ‘proofs’ that they will stand up against:

• Smudge proof
• Cry proof
• Humidity proof

I want to share my experience in wearing Blackest Black on my lower waterline only. As you know, the waterline is a tricky place for eyeliner because the natural wetness of the eye causes fading. This product does glide on smoothly with no tugging, while providing instant matte black full coverage. After hours of wear I could make a minor touch-up in the outer and inner corner, but you would need to look very close to my eye to notice that. Washing this stuff off is very hard! In using micellar water, a makeup remover wipe, and an oil-based eye makeup remover, evidence of black still shows.

wet n wild megalast Stained Glass Lip Glosses

Next in the wet n wild 2020 new products are the megalast Stained Glass Lip Glosses. Talk about a unique formula! They are the most pigmented lipgloss that I have ever seen, and with so much shine, but the formula is not sticky, rather, it is creamy. As these wear away they leave a stain behind. Washing off my swatches is a failure of a task. Micellar water, oil-based remover, and a makeup wipe does not take the stain off my arm. Even scrubbing in the shower to the point of having red skin does not help. Needless to say, the swatches were visible on my arm for about two days. The claims:

• Transfer proof
• Kiss proof
• Eight hours of wear
• Staying power of a stain with the shine of a gloss
• Lightweight
• Comfy
• Creamy
• Moisturizing
• Buildable
• Will not cake, feather or bleed

I am a lip gloss hater, but I admit my curiosity in wanting to wear these. The swatches hold up to the claims so far.

wet n wild photofocus Dewy Foundation in Nude Ivory

Here is the photofocus Dewy Foundation in Nude Ivory. While it is the counterpart to the original matte photofocus foundation, this one does not have the paint-like smell. There are 20 shades in the range, but Nude Ivory is my match. It claims to be weightless, nourishing, and pore minimizing with a dewy finish. Dewy Foundations are best for normal to dry skin. I have combination skin with oiliness in my T-zone but normal skin everywhere else. Typically, dewy foundations look like crap on me, but this one looks pretty nice! The formula is thin and buildable to a medium coverage. While it does last all day on me, I am curious about mixing in some of elf’s Make Me Matte Foundation Adjuster to see if I can make it even better, but not as matte, as the original photofocus.

wet n wild Hello Halo Blushlighters

Pressing on with the wet n wild 2020 new products, here are the three Hello Halo Blushlighters. Is this a sign that super shimmery blush is making a comeback, or is this product totally unnecessary? Each compact has one blush and one highlighter, but depending on your skin tone you may be able to use these shades exclusively as blushes or highlighters. This is a time where we say the blush has the highlighter “built-in” because the intense shimmer gives your cheek bones the illusion of wearing highlighter without actually doing so. These shades are dark for my skin tone in terms of highlighter. I really like the blush shade in Flash Me, which is the only real winner here. The shimmer is great and the formula is soft.

wet n wild coloricon Blushes

Here are the revamped coloricon Blushes from the wet n wild 2020 new products launch. It appears that wet n wild is doing away with all other shades and only keeping these four here in an updated, modern round package without the useless brush. Nudist Society and Pinch Me Pink are brand new shades, while Mellow Wine and Pearlescent Pink are classics. They claim to be long lasting and buildable, which I find true of the coloricon blush line. Will these new blushes perform just as well? We shall see. The swatches are alright, but Pinch Me Pink does not show up on me for anything.

wet n wild Ultimatebrow Brow Kit in Dark Brown

Next is the Ultimate Brow Kit in Dark Brown. I know that this product has been around for ages, so why is wet n wild labeling it as new? Well, I believe that Dark Brown is a new shade to join the only other shade in Ash Brown. In this handy kit you get two brow powders, tweezers, a brow brush, slide out mirror, and a clear wax. I am swatching only the powders because the wax is clear.

wet n wild Microfiber Makeup Sponge

I am a big fan of wet n wild’s regular makeup sponge. This Microfiber Makeup Sponge definitely has me curious! While it is the same size and shape of the original, dare I say that it is even softer and squishier! If it feels this good dry, then it is probably even better wet. I cannot wait to try it with powders and creams. Maybe I can even do a showdown between various microfiber sponges to see how they compare. wet n wild The Metallic Palette

You know me, if you read on long enough I always have extra content! I do have a post on the wet n wild The 40 Palette, as well as the holiday 2019 products, but The Metallic Palette is being released later than those items. It just does not fit into my other posts, but I want to make sure to give it a moment, even though it is not technically a 2020 release. Much like The 40 Palette, this is a smaller palette of 15 all-shimmer shades. As usual, the quality is excellent for the price. This palette makes a great gift, but it is limited edition and only available on wet n wild’s website.

Product Comparisons

wet n wild megalast Matte Lip Color vs megalast Lip Color in Stoplight Red

I always want to do my best to be as informative and thorough as possible so that you can spend your money wisely. Here are some product comparisons of similar or renamed products. First we have the brand new for 2020 megalast Matte Lip Color vs the old but good megalast Lip Color both in Stoplight Red. I figure since they have the same name, they may actually be the same! The swatches are identical, not just in color, but also in pigmentation, ease of application, and with a satin matte finish. If you have the original Stoplight Red, you do not need to purchase the “new” one. This also makes me wonder if this “new” line is simply a revamp/repackage of the old.

Next up I have the old vs the new Pearlescent Pink blushes. wet n wild is making it seem like they only changed the package, but the formula and the color are definitely different! I have no idea why my old Pearlescent Pink is so messy (maybe because it really is old), but it has so much more pigment in a deeper salmon pink color. I like the old better!

Now I am swatching the old vs the new Mello Wine blushes. Again, there is a noticeable difference. They both have the same level of pigmentation, but the new shade is pinker than the old. The formula appears to be the same.

wet n wild Ulitmatebrow Brow Kit in Dark Brown vs Ash Brown

The last product comparison from the wet n wild 2020 new products is the Ultimate Brow Kit. Ash Brown is such a classic drugstore product, but Dark Brown is the newest shade. There are only two shades in this collection. I thought it would be helpful to see both shades side-by-side as you shop and try to shade match yourself. No surprise that Ash Brown is is slightly lighter than Dark Brown.

Conclusion

We are at the end of the wet n wild 2020 new products. This is a smaller release for wet n wild than in prior years, but the quality of the products is definitely evident. I feel like the Blushlighters are take it or leave it in terms of necessity, but having a serum primer in the everyday line is a big win. We will definitely have soft and luxurious lips this year! I am spending 2020 testing these products out, and who knows, I may even burn through some. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
