Top 10 Winter 2019 Fashion Trends
1) Sweater dresses
Starting off this list of winter 2019 fashion trends is sweater dresses. I am not talking about your mama’s sweater dresses that look like a giant, puffy sweater. This season they are sleek knits, sometimes ribbed, and flattering for your body type. Sweater dresses are an excellent way to stay warm while giving you the fashionista look.
2) Leopard
Secondly, leopard is hitting us hard in winter 2019. You will see this print everywhere- from shirts, to shoes, and even dresses. It is my favorite animal print to wear. Leopard always makes me feel sophisticated and stylish.
3) Jewel tones
Thirdly, jewel tones are hot for winter 2019. Primarily, we are seeing wine, terracotta orange, hunter green, and plum. These dark, rich hues are a bold reminder of the colder season. However, do not stop with these tones alone! Other colors such as mustard, burgundy, black, and more are also trending.

4) Sweaters/knits
Fourthly but not surprisingly we have sweaters and knits. In the same token as the sweater dresses, the knits are sleek and compliment your curves. Try looking for knits that are cropped, have a fun neck line, or with patterns in the fabric to add a special touch to your aesthetic.
5) Velvet
Fifthly, velvet and crushed velvet is trending. Velvet comes in many forms, including shoes, bodysuits, dresses, and more. You can find endless ways to incorporate it into your winter look book.
6) Vintage/retro
Continuing with winter 2019 fashion trends, you may be noticing pieces that take you back to the 60s, 70, 80s, and so on. Vintage or retro pieces are taking the spotlight this season. I am not just talking about bell-bottom pants, but also retro patterns in fabrics, and even funky sunglasses. Adding retro flair into your wardrobe has never been easier!
7) Skirts
Additionally, skirts of various lengths and cuts are trending right now. With the cooler temperatures I do suggest pairing them with tights, leggings, boot socks, etc. to help keep warm. Try to play up your average skirt with studs, laces, and prints.
8) Checkered plaid
If you have been a reader for any amount of time, then you know that I love my plaid. However, did you know that there are different types of plaid, each with their own name? Winter 2019 brings us checkered plaid all over the place. I have seen it on pants, skirts, blazers, and more. Checkered plaid is definitely a sophisticated, professional print.
9) Leather
Next, leather and faux-leather are a playful addition to your outfits this season. Beyond the basic moto jacket, try pairing your leather with unconventional pieces like sweaters and dresses. Also, try to think outside the leather handbag box with boots, pants, and belts.
10) Silk/shiny material
The final look in this list of winter 2019 fashion trends is silk or any shiny fabric. Adding in a shiny material into your everyday look helps you amp up the glam factor without going overboard. In addition, silk and other fabrics make you look and feel more high-end and put together.
In summary of this list of the top 10 winter 2019 fashion trends, we have both unexpected and expected trends alike! Jewel tones, sweaters and knits, and sweater dresses are not surprising. However, incorporating leather, silk, and velvet into your outfits will surely put all eyes on you. Sleek knits and sweater dresses are a breath of fresh air from baggy, lazy styles. How will you work with these trends in your day-to-day life? Please share your styles in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
