Lazy Makeup Routine For Daily Basic Looks

In today’s fast-paced world, many of us are looking for ways to simplify our daily routines, including our beauty time. Enter the lazy makeup routine, an easy and basic approach to achieving a polished and natural look without spending too much time or effort. This approach to makeup is perfect for those who want to embrace a more relaxed and natural approach to beauty, whether you are a busy professional or someone who wants to simplify their daily routine. Here I am sharing my favorite go-to products when I am feeling lazy or I am short on time. All of my recommendations are 100% no-fuss products that I can trust to apply easily, to layer well, and to look great for a long time.

Best Lazy Makeup Routine

Primer

I am starting this lazy makeup routine the same way that you start your look, and that is with primer. Out of all of my favorite primers, I almost always reach for any wet n wild primefocus Primer Serum. The reason is that they layer amazingly, prep and hydrate the skin, dry fast, and look great with most makeup. They technically will not extend wear time, but they are a trust go-to.

If you plan on doing eyeshadow and want a primer, any of your favorites that you have on hand will do. I almost always have wet n wild megalast Eyeshadow Primer and Urban Decay Primer Potion nearby because they are virtually dupes of each other. These primers will prevent your eye look from creasing, fading, or moving all day. You can read about all of my best recommendations in my list of long lasting eyeshadow primer.

Foundation

Second for this lazy girl makeup routine is foundation. My number one pick is Loreal True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum. The reason is that it applies to your skin well with any tool, which includes a brush, sponge, or your fingers. Plus, it does not need set with powder, which saves you so much time. If you are an oily girl, it prevents your skin from producing oil, and it wears well all day. It is the best candidate for layering creams and liquids over top, which will save you more time as I explain later. You can read the full details in my Loreal True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum review.

The wet n wild barefocus Tinted Hydrator wears like a foundation, but feels and applies like a BB Cream. It always looks great for a trusted look, and somehow looks even better when powdered. Finally, I love the flawless, full coverage look of Physicians Formula Butter Believe It Foundation and Concealer. You really cannot mess this one up when you are speeding through your routine.

Concealer

Third in this very basic makeup routine is concealer. You might want to wear only concealer and skip foundation as a way to cover blemishes and brighten key areas. Or, you might want to skip concealer entirely. My go-to’s are ones that look skin-like, that blend like a dream with a lightweight formula, and that either have full coverage or a buildable look. I most commonly reach for the following:

Powder

Fourth is another optional step for an easy basic makeup routine, which is powder. You may find this to be an extra step, and it is definitely not needed if you will be working with creams. But, you will need it to layer on other powder complexion products. My favorites for flawlessly setting the whole face and baking are the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder and wet n wild photofocus Translucent Loose Setting Powder. While you can use the wet n wild 5 in 1 Essence Primer + Finish Powder all over the face, I find that it sets the under eyes beautifully without baking to prevent creases.

Brows

Fifth for the easiest makeup routine are brows. If you want medium hold and shape with no color, then the wet n wild megaclear Brow and Lash Mascara is where it is at! I commonly use it on no makeup days to help me to look put together. It can also be used with a pencil of your choice.

When it comes to doing brows fast, I want a pencil that is thick enough for a quick fill, yet small enough to stay in the lines. This is where the elf Instant Lift Brow Pencil and Maybelline Total Temptation Brow Definer come in. If you want a skinny tip option, really any and all that I have tried from the drugstore are the same. But, I am including the elf Ultra Precise Brow Pencil.

Bronzer, Blush, Highlighter

Next for this lazy makeup routine I am talking complexion with bronzer, blush, and highlighter, and I will start with cream and liquid options. I find contour to be optional on these days. Creams are actually my go-to because I can apply most of my complexion products with one tool, which is a sponge. This saves me time by not reaching for several brushes or having to clean them later. Each of my recommendations blend and layer like a dream to give you a skin-like finish:

If I am going to do a powder complexion, then I want to reach for a single item that has all of the options in it. I highly recommend either the Physicians Formula All Star or Butter Dream Team palettes for multiple blush, bronzer, and highlighter options with formulas that practically blend themselves.

Setting Spray

To end the complexion portion of the best lazy makeup routine, I want to talk setting spray. For a long-lasting look, you must use Urban Decay All Nighter or Maybelline Lasting Fix Setting Spray. In all honesty, I love the the fresh face look of wet n wild Take Your Vitamins Super Nutrient Face Mist, and I usually grab it when I am short on time.

Eyeshadow

Now we will focus on the eyes! If I am doing standard powder eyeshadow, I like to reach for a palette of neutrals that contains enough for a complete look. There are so many nudes palettes that I can recommend! I am painfully restraining myself to three of my top favorites in terms of pigmentation, quality, and blendability when you are in a pinch:

Now, I have more eyeshadow to talk about! I have to mention elf Bite Size Eyeshadow for a mini, travel friendly option that has a complete look. They perform at high-end eyeshadow quality for $3. You can get the full details in my elf Bite Size Eyeshadow review.

On most days when I am feeling lazy or in a hurry, I turn to liquid eyeshadow and apply it onto my eyelid only for a complete look. I have three recommendations that apply easily and last ALL day no matter what:

Finally on this topic, I have to include elf No Budge Shadow Sticks. These also apply easily and last all day. I like to do one color on my eyelid only, then a light shimmer shade for the brow bone and inner corner to make me look awake. They are my most-used lazy item. I have all of the swatches and details in my elf No Budge Shadow Stick review.

Eyeliner & Mascara

For a lazy makeup routine, eyeliner can be optional, but I really do not believe mascara is. No mascara would leave you looking unfinished. I almost always reach for wet n wild Breakup Proof Skinny Waterproof Eyeliner because the tip is the right size to get a perfect, controlled look every time. It is pretty hard to mess up.

When it comes to mascara, I honestly reach for whatever open tube I am currently working on. I assume you will use your favorite go-to, which is why I am not directly recommending anything here. For my list of my favorite mascaras, I have a blog post on the best drugstore mascara for feathery lashes.

Lips

Last in this lazy makeup routine I am ending with lips. I always reach for a tinted balm-like product because this enables me to skip lip liner, layering, and the tedious cleanup that may come with a matte or a red lip. I am not a lip gloss fan, but a tinted gloss might be your thing. My most reached for items are:
