Profusion Rituals Collection Review, Swatches, Look

I had no plans to do a Profusion Rituals review, until I stumbled upon a mostly picked over display during a casual Walmart shopping trip. I found myself intrigued by their Halloween 2022 lineup! This is not a comprehensive review of the entire collection. I purchased a personal selection out of what was left. To obtain everything would be rather pricey. I am sad that the big eyeshadow palette and stamp liners were gone! However, I am reviewing, swatching, and doing a look with what I selected.

Where To Buy Profusion Rituals

You can purchase this collection on Profusion’s website, or online and in-stores at Walmart.

Profusion Rituals Collection Review

Brush Altar 4-piece Face & Eye Set

First from the Profusion Rituals collection is the Brush Altar 4-piece Face & Eye Set. I do not own many Profusion brushes, but you can peep another awesome set from what I got for Christmas 2021. They do not state what each brush is for, but the creativity is up to you. Their brushes do feel soft and high-quality.

Claims: This brush set is perfect for beginners and pros.

Rituals Handheld Mirror

Second is the Profusion Rituals mirror. I know these handheld makeup mirrors have been popular forever, but I do not own one! I figured why not get this and put it on display. Since this is a mirror, I do not have much to say. It is fun, looks nice, and is functional.

Claims: This mirror is lightweight and perfectly sized.

Candlelight Ritual Frosted Highlighter in Flare

Third is the Candlelight Ritual Frosted Highlighter in Flare. I really wanted the other shade because it is more fair skin friendly, but I can just skate by with this one. It definitely has a cream-to-powder formula. When applied with your fingers, it is very intense and almost wet-like. Brush application disperses it, which causes it to be more buildable, yet glittery. Overall, it looks nice.

Claims: This is a long wearing, cream-to-powder highlighter.

Paranormal Face Paint Stack & Paint Brush

Fourth is the Paranormal Face Paint Stack & Paint Brush. I never buy Halloween paints, but I was hoping these would dry down for use as eyeliner. They have an oily formula, which I believe is referred to as grease paint, but I stand to be corrected here. With long nails I have a hard time swatching pots of this size, so I used q-tips. They definitely do not dry down with the oils, and maintain a shine. I regret this purchase because now I am not sure how to use them. It comes with a brush that looks like a flat eyeliner brush.

Claims: This paint features a buildable, creamy formula that allows for a seamless blend. It is highly pigmented.

Spellbinding 2 Pair Faux Mink Lash Set in Sorcery

Fifth for the Profusion Rituals set is the Spellbinding 2 Pair Faux Mink Lash Set in Sorcery. I do appreciate that these are wispy and hand-made, but I also prefer a thin, clear band. These look borderline cheap, but better than some other Halloween lashes. I had trouble getting the inner corners to stick down, which is a recurring issue with big costume lashes. These were not the most comfortable to wear, and I removed them after a few hours.

Claims: These hand-made wispy lashes are comfortable to wear, with a flexible cotton band that makes application and removal easy.

Goodbye Mini Shade Palette in Entity

Next is the Goodbye Mini Shade Palette in Entity. We all know that purple eyeshadows are hard to manufacture, so purple palettes are either amazing or a bust. Profusion makes top notch eyeshadow, and they did a good job here! Everything applies to the eye well. These eyeshadows are easy to blend and to build, with a soft formula that is never patchy. The various purple hues really pop on the eye. I see virtually no fallout, and very little kick-up in the pan. I will say that Good Spirit and Hello are not as pigmented on fair skin. Dark Spirit looks purple in the pan, but more pink on the skin. This palette reminds me of the limited edition mini from the Walmart Halloween 2021 beauty box, and I like it.

Nocturnal Goodbye Summon
Dark Spirit Mystifying Realm
Good Spirit Seance Hello

Claims: This multi-finish eyeshadow palette includes an array of mystifying shades that blend seamlessly.

Crystal Ritual High-Impact Cream Lipstick

Here are three of the four Crystal Ritual High-Impact Cream Lipsticks. They have a finish that is more shiny than satin, but they are not a full-on shiny lip. You can build this formula from sheer to full coverage easily. They are very creamy and feel great on the lips. Of course, they transfer due to the finish, but they honestly wear well and look good all day. You might be annoyed that the packaging is bulky and cannot stand on its own, besides the fact that the shade names are not printed on them. Other than that, these are bomb.

Claims: This lipstick features an ultra-creamy formula that easily glides on for a luscious touch of color.

Haunting Rituals Water Activated Liner

Last for the Profusion Cosmetics Rituals collection are the Haunting Rituals Water Activated Liners. This is my first time using water activated liner, so I do not have a comparison point in my mind when I apply a star rating here. I have a learning curve when it comes to what brush to use, how much water to apply, and so forth. I do like the ease of use, as it was less intimidating as I initially thought. These dry down matte and I do not feel them on my face, plus the colors are bright. Keep in mind that water activated liner is not waterproof, but they stay in place. The provided brush has a nice slant, but I do not think it is small enough to achieve a wing. In my makeup look below, I did use a different brush. I never use the brushes that come with stuff, but these are not half bad.

Claims: Simply add water to these ultra-pigmented liners. You can mix shades together for a custom look. These dry to a matte finish.

Profusion Rituals Makeup Look

I am ending with a Profusion Rituals makeup look. This is my first time working with water activated liner, so I did not want to do anything out of the ordinary. Since this is not enough to do a full face of the brand, I am keeping everything drugstore. Here are the products that I used:

To recreate the eye look, start by setting the eyelid with Hello. Next, apply Realm to the crease. Deepen the crease with Mystifying, and apply it along the lower lash line. Now, apply Good Spirit to the eyelid. Then, apply Nocturnal to the outer-v, and connect it down to the lower lash line. Ever so slightly use Goodbye to darken the outer-v. Finish the look by highlighting the brow bone and inner corner with Seance.

Conclusion

In conclusion of Profusion Rituals, I am happy with my selection outside of the paint stack. I am sad that some other great looking items were sold out! When it comes to Profusion, I have only tried their eyeshadows, with the exception of palettes that feature blush, bronzer, and highlight. This is a nice way to try other product formulas that they offer. I am excited to practice with the water liners. Many of these products can be used on a daily basis and not just for Halloween, plus they are good for collectors. I really liked the packaging with the black fabric bows. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
