Alix Avien Cosmetics Review
Primary Pro Matte Base
First is the Primary Pro Matte Base. We are starting the Alix Avien review off on a high note, folks! This is now my new favorite primer and I have been using it a lot. It has gone straight into my special occasion/event/bullet proof makeup routine, which speaks volumes.
It provides a mattified base that leaves the skin looking and feeling smooth and evened out. It does not dry with a tacky finish. The pores around my nose are horrible, and I do not see this product filling them. I also do not see blurring or reduction of fine lines. However, it does layer well with skincare and makeup. The overall texture feels similar to Smashbox Photo Finish (another of my all-time favorites) but it does not look like it color-wise.
The magic here is that it leaves your makeup with a soft, blurred finish like a real-life filter. I have combination skin and during the day it stays matte and blurred! Only a slight amount of oil is let through on my nose, but nothing on my chin or forehead. Additionally, it does extend the wear of makeup, which is a statement that I never make lightly.
I have been wearing this with foundations that never looked good on my skin, and I find, for the most part, that it makes them look much better so that I can wear them! You should definitely try this primer with your least liked foundations. I NEED a backup of this product, and I also want to try their luminous primer. Claims: This primer should provide a silky and matte finish without drying your skin out. It should instantly smooth the complexion with sebum control. It is designed to diminish the appearance of pores and fine lines, all with lasting hydration for comfort. Finally, it should extend the wear time of makeup.

Matte Foundation in Soft Ivory
Second is the Matte Foundation in Soft Ivory. This product is super full coverage! I recommend dispensing about half of the amount that you normally wear, and apply it in light layers. My first time around I applied way too much. The good news is, even if you go heavy-handed, it never looks cakey or heavy itself. This has buildable coverage with a skin-like, soft-focus finish.
I will say that this is not true matte. This foundation does a lovely job of adapting to the finish of your primer. Some matte foundations are straight matte no matter what. If you pair this over a primer that is more luminous, you will get a semi-matte finish with a healthy glow. For a true matte finish, pair it with a matte primer (such as their Primary Pro Matte Base) and/or powders.
Alix Avien foundation dries down fast, but you do get time to work with it. It never dries out or gets flakey. It does apply like a matte formula does, even when you are aiming for a glowing look.
The first time that I wore this I paired it with primer and powder that is in my daily rotation. I faced a common issue where it broke down on my chin and gave me a patchy look. This is simply weirdness with my skin, so I am not mad. Sometimes I have to find the right powder and primer combo. However, I did see less wear and tear than normal. I did not see the foundation breaking down and cracking around my nose. It does allow oils to come through and gets shiny during the day.
During another wear test with their primer and better powder, the chin issue did not occur. I will continue wearing this in my daily rotation.
Claims: This foundation provides a flawless appearance for long-lasting, shine-free makeup. It also keeps your skin hydrated to prevent dryness and flaking. It features a true matte finish that will not leave you looking dull.

Powder Blush in Nude Pink
Third is the Powder Blush in Nude Pink. You will see with their blush and highlighter the pans are huge and they come with a brush in the lower section. Nude Pink is a lovely shade for daily wear. It is mostly matte. I find the formula to be soft and buildable so that you control the pigment. This is perfectly good blush.
Claims: This blush is made of silky powder to provide a natural, luminous finish. It should be blendable and buildable to control the intense color payoff.

Powder Highlighter in Nude
Fourth is the Powder Highlighter in Nude. Nude is a great highlighter for fair skin! It has a soft, buildable formula that you can wear as subtle or as bold as you like. That is exactly what I look for in a highlighter, so it gets an A+ from me.
Claims: This highlighter is lightweight, silky, and smooth. It features a weightless, soft touch finish with buildable radiance.

Mono Eyeshadow
Fifth are two Mono Eyeshadow shades. I do notice that all of the Alix Avien eyeshadow is very consistent, across singles, duos, and palettes. They all have a very powdery formula that produces a lot of kick-up in the pan. If you do not tap the excess off of your brush, you will see the powder flying everywhere. Otherwise, these single shadows look great on the eye and last all day. Snowflake is perfect to set your eyelid, and Milky Coffee is a good crease shade.

Duo Eyeshadow in Pumpkin Cake and Pearly Cinnamon
Next is the Duo Eyeshadow in Pumpkin Cake and Pearly Cinnamon. This duo is just as nice as the mono eyeshadows. It is easy to apply and to blend, with lovely pigmentation. The metallic Pearly Cinnamon shade looks stunning applied dry!
Claims: These eyeshadows are silky, highly pigmented, and buildable. They feature a high color payoff that is blendable and even.

Baked Blush in Dirty Rose
Here is the Baked Blush in Dirty Rose. There are baked blushes out there that have a hard top layer that needs to be scraped off before you can use it, but that is not the case here. This blush is ready to go right away! If you are a fan of “blushlighter,” aka blush with highlighter built in, then you will love these. I have only tried dry application and the amount of glow is beautiful. The shades in Dirty Rose blend together to give you a deep rose hue with a gold shimmer, just as the name implies. While you can build this up, a little bit goes a long way for a pretty look.
Claims: This blush features silky, buildable coverage for wet or dry application. Dry will provide you with a natural finish, while wet is more full coverage and glowing.

Lip Gloss
Continuing on, I have two Lip Gloss shades. These are not sticky at all! As the claims state, these feel moisturizing and smooth on the lips. There is no oily feeling either. You can reapply Alix Avien lip gloss as needed. Glossy Purity is perfect to wear on its own or layered over any lip color that you want to add shine to. Rose Pink simply takes my breath away! I own a lot of lip gloss, but this stunning shade of pink is unique. It has just the right amount of tint, and I need a backup.
Claims: These glosses are ultra comfortable, silky smooth, and soft. They should condition the lips with a hint of color and a moisturizing feel that is never sticky. With the doe foot applicator you will get the right amount of product every time to wear alone or layered over a lip color.

Rose Pink
Eyeshadow Palette in Tropical Bouquet
Next is the Eyeshadow Palette in Tropical Bouquet. The issues that I previously mentioned with the powdery formula are present here, but I have more details. When I swatch the eyeshadows with my finger, they feel ultra smooth and there is no kick-up. The swatches are highly pigmented and true to color. When it comes to using a brush and applying on the eye, that is when the powdery issue starts. I found the greens and blues to apply darker to eye than they look in the pan, and they get muddy. The pink shades are much more vibrant. Otherwise, these are easy to blend and to build and they last all day.
I do find it strange that the shade names are not on the palette itself. They are only on the back of the box. Below is a table of the shade names:

Ultra Black Dipliner
Here is the Ultra Black Dipliner. This matte black eyeliner dries fast, but it is still easy to work with, and it layers over itself great. The small felt tip point is easy to control sometimes. I have days where it looks great, and other days when it gets out of hand. It is sort of like dipping a pen into a bottle of ink, so to speak. For eyeliner beginners or those that struggle, this may not be the best option for you. In the Alix Avien eyeliner range they do offer a felt tip pen that is visually worth trying.
Claims: This eyeliner has an ultra fine felt tip with extra black pigment. It has a water-resistant formula to create bold lines without skipping or tugging.

3-in-1 Mascara
Pressing on, this is the 3-in-1 Mascara. It has a flexible silicone wand with a ball on the end that grabs the inner lashes easily. The wand has tapered ends and it bulges in the middle. It does a good job of grabbing the lashes to separate them. I do see some length, volume, and definition happening. To earn a spot on my best mascaras list, I would like to see a bit more oomph. This is not the best or the worst.
Claims: This mascara should provide length, volume, and definition with a creamy formula and a lasting finish. It dries quickly to avoid flaking, leaving your lashes soft and flexible. The silicone brush grips your lashes with a nourishing formula that strengthens without damage.

Matte Liquid Lipstick
Next is two shades of Matte Liquid Lipstick. They apply with full-coverage and bright pigmentation in one swipe! The triangular doe foot makes them easy to apply, and they dry down to be fully matte in minutes. After all day wear, these never get dry, crusty, or flakey! I can feel the product on my lips, but not in a bad way. They do not feel dry or moisturizing. Since they last all day, there is little to no transfer, and you can layer it if you need to touch up. Washing the swatches off was difficult, which is a testament to their power. I need more shades!
Claims: These matte liquid lipsticks have a smooth texture that is soft, lightweight, and comfortable They apply creamy and dry down to a non-sticky finish that gives you eight hours of wear. One swipe delivers high-impact color that is full coverage and true matte without drying.

Red Carpet
Nail Lacquer
Last are nine shades of Nail Lacquer. As a nail polish junkie and collector, I am obsessed with these! They feature my favorite type of brush- it is smooth and spreads out to evenly coat your nails without streaks. The formula hits the sweet spot of being not too thin or too thick. I find that they are incredibly full-coverage pigmented and dry down with so much shine that they look like gel. The Alix Avien nail polish line is huge and I am excited to buy more colors! Also, they last perfectly well for me over seven days of wear as I follow my nail care routine.
Claims: Each nail polish has a smooth texture and a streak-free, controlled glide brush and ergonomic applicator. The unique formula prevents yellow stains and features pigment suspension. You will get up to seven days of salon quality wear. They are fast drying with intense color payoff and brilliant shine.

I am ending with two Alix Avien cosmetics makeup looks. The first one is almost full face because they did not send enough to do so, but I filled in with my favorites. The second look is me trying out the duo eyeshadow.
Almost Full Face

To recreate the eyeshadow look, start by setting the lid with the Mono Eyeshadow in Snowflake. Now we will focus on one eye at a time. On eye one, apply Angel’s Trumpet to the inner third of the eyelid, Interflora on the center, then Aquatic Lilly on the outer third. Bring all of those colors up into the crease. Also apply them along the lower lash line.
On the second eye, apply Purple Grass to the innter third of the eyelid, Dahlia on the center, and then Mandevilla on the outer third. Bring all of those colors up into the crease. Also apply them along the lower lash line.
Finish the look by highlighting the brow bone and inner corner with the Powder Highlighter in Nude.
Mini Makeup Look
To recreate the eyeshadow look, start by setting the lid with the Mono Eyeshadow in Snowflake. Then, apply Pumpkin Cake from the Duo Eyeshadow into the crease, and bring it down below the lower lash line. Next, apply Pearly Cinnamon to the eyelid. Now, apply the Mono Eyeshadow in Milky Coffee to the outer corner, and connect down to the lower lash line. Finish the look with Ultra Black Dipliner and 3-in-1 Mascara.
Conclusion
In summary of this review of the Alix Avien brand, it is an exhilarating feeling to try products from a company you are not familiar with and find so many hits! I will continue to use these products in my day to day routine. The brand was so generous to send me all of these items, and I wish them continued success with their US venture!
