I am testing the elf Liquid Metallic Eyeshadow line and swatching all eight shades to determine if they meet their claims.
Details & Claims
First, we will chat about where to buy these liquid eyeshadow. Most retailers that carry elf will have them, but, for access to all eight shades, you should check out elf’s website, Ulta, and Target. They retail for $6 each.
These eyeshadows claim to provide high impact, pigmented coverage in one swipe. The formula should be long-lasting, due to it being gel based. You should be able to build the formula, with it also being quick drying. These are infused with multi-dimensional metallic pearls.
To apply the liquid eyeshadows, you can swipe them directly onto the eye with the applicator. Next, you can blend them with your fingers or a flat eyeshadow brush. These can also be applied as eyeliner using an eyeliner brush.

Review
I will begin by noting that they have a smooth and creamy formula that dries down fully. Once dry, they feel as smooth as they apply, with no tackiness.
One coat does not provide 100% full coverage, but you can build it up to full with a second coat. No matter how many coats you prefer, these are highly metallic and gorgeous! You can definitely wear these alone, or pair them with eyeshadow/other eye products.
This formula gives you enough time to work with it before it dries down. The best part is, these stay put ALL day! You will experience zero movement, transfer, fading, creasing, or cracking. Even the metallic shine stays lustrous all day. P.S. my favorite brush of all time to apply any liquid eyeshadow with is the elf Flat Eyeshadow Brush.
These notes are highly similar to my elf No Budge Shadow Stick review, so, if you prefer your shadow to be in stick format, you should check it out! You can definitely pair them up with these liquid eyeshadows for even more shine and dimension.
Below is a quick eye look using Moon. Moon is the perfect shade for daily glam wear on its own! I applied it all over the eyelid, then put some bronzer in the crease and along the lower lash line. The pictures definitely do not do the shine justice!
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you apply elf Metallic Liquid Eyeshadow?
You apply elf Metallic Liquid Eyeshadow directly to the eye with the applicator wand. Then, you can use your fingers or a brush to blend it, as desired. You can also use an eyeliner brush to apply them as eyeliner.
How long does liquid eyeshadow take to dry?
The drying time of liquid eyeshadow varies by brand. A good liquid eyeshadow should take around a minute. That will provide you enough time to work with it before it dries down, but will also help to prevent messy application.
Do you need primer for liquid eyeshadow?
A primer is not necessary for liquid eyeshadow, but it is recommended to be used with any eye makeup. Primers are designed to control oil production on the eyelid, while providing a smooth base that locks product into place. With that being said, they are always a good idea.

One Response
I liked this formula and the glitter liquid shadows. I have Moon and really like it , it reminds me a bit of the Stila liquid shadows .
