I am starting this Dyson Corrale hair straightener review with plenty of information and claims. This is a hot styling tool or flat iron that claims to enhance your style, but with half the damage to your hair.
Claims
Its claim to fame is that it is the only hair straightener with flexing plates that shape to gather your hair. The material under the plates feels to me to be some sort of rubber or silicone, and by gently pressing with my finger, I can feel the flexibility. Dyson says the plates give you more control, which is how damage is minimized. This is how the Corrale differentiates itself from the competition. With this being said, I always recommend using heat protectant with any hot styling tool.
The plates are made with a manganese copper alloy, which is known for strength, flexibility, and thermal conduction.

Next in this Dyson Corrale hair straightener review we are going to discuss what you get in the box. Of course, you get the Corrale device itself, along with the charging cord, a travel bag, and a two-piece base.
Flight Friendly
The Dyson Corrale has a Flight-ready feature that disconnects the battery, designed to adhere to International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) regulations. It also has Universal Voltage, so you can charge it while you are abroad.
You will notice a ribbon with a funny shaped piece on the end with an airplane symbol. There is also a piece on the Corrale near the battery that pops open so you can insert the piece on the ribbon into it. This is what disconnects the battery.
The travel bag is designed to hold the Corrale itself, but it will not hold the other pieces that come with the device.

The base is incredibly easy to assemble and disassemble. The clear plastic piece slips right into and out of the slot.

How to Use the Dyson Corrale
Charging
The Dyson Corrale has a four-cell lithium-ion battery. You can use it cord free or corded. The digital screen will let you know when it is charged visibly and with a beep. It does the same when running on battery to let you know when it is time to charge. On a full charge you get 30 minutes of styling time. It takes 70 minutes to get to a full charge.
The power cord can be plugged into the pink base, then you place the Corrale on the base and it will charge. You can also plug the cord directly into the Corrale to charge it or to use it corded.
Temperature
The Dyson Corrale has three temperature settings, which are 330oF, 365oF, and 410oF. You can easily cycle through and select a temperature option with the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons.
Buttons and Features
Otherwise, the device features an on/off button and a digital display. All buttons and the display are self-explanatory and simple to use and navigate. There is a slider to open/close or to lock/unlock the device.
If you are wondering how to turn off the Dyson Corrale, it automatically shuts off after non-use, which is an incredible safety feature for a hot tool.
I do allow it to cool before storing it in the bag. Always use this device on fully dry hair.
Is the Dyson Corrale Worth It? Review
Now onto the info you are dying to read, the actual Dyson Corrale hair straightener review. First, I know a lot of people say this device seems to rip their hair out. I presume it gets stuck around the edges of the plates. This device does not pull my hair out. If that happens to you, I imagine you are somehow using this product wrong.
As you would expect of Dyson, this device is of excellent quality. It has a nice weight to it, and nothing feels like it is going to easily break. Also, I never need to wear any thermal styling gloves when using this tool. The places where you put your hands do not get hot.
Below you can see that this product does successfully straighten hair. This device is definitely worthy to be included in my list of hot tools for fine hair!
I also tried my hand at curling my hair with this device, as seen below. Let me just say, styling my hair is not my forte in life. I have not yet mastered curling my hair with a flat iron. If you have, I am certain you will get results that are better than mine! However, I am pleased with my rookie results. It was easy for me to get this look. Plus, the Corrale gave me some bounce and volume that my thin hair normally rejects. Practice makes perfect! After using this device you have the perfect opportunity to accessorize your locks for a finishing tough.
Every time that I use this tool it leaves my hair looking incredibly shiny and healthy. It also feels super soft. Just to re-iterate, I do start with heat protectant spray.
My overall thoughts for this Dyson Corrale Review is that this product absolutely works as a flat iron should, while also meeting its claims. If you are in the market for a high-end $499 straightener, then be my guest. You will get your monies worth. However, I am sure that you can get the same styling results with any flat iron. It really comes down to your budget. Will I continue to use this device? Yes. Am I throwing my other flat irons away? No.
