It is one or the other, but the affects are virtually the same. Using them together would leave my hair looking wet and oily. This definitely imparts some shine as well. The directions say to apply it to dry or damp hair. I find that it does nothing when I apply it damp. Dry is the way to go!

Garnier gets the job done! You always have to experiment with oil to find the right amount for your hair, and that will change with the length. Once a week, I use the Glass Hair Water after the conditioner. After, I brush out any tangles and towel-dry my hair with a 100% cotton t-shirt. I then apply a quarter-size amount of leave-in conditioner to my damp hair, focusing it on the lengths and ends.
Once my hair is dry, I prefer a wide tooth comb or a brush that will not add frizz. I currently use The Wet Brush comb and Tangle Teezer brush. Then, I apply either the serum OR the oil.
