Social media brought rise to the nail stamper french tips “hack” and it is all over the internet. I have experimented with it, and the results may shock you! In this article I am providing a step by step tutorial that also explores how this technique actually works.
1) Supplies & Prep
In order to acheive the best silicone nail stamper french tip look, you will need to gather these supplies:
- Something to protect your working surface (paper towels, rag, newspaper, etc.)
- Base coat
- Top coat
- Base nail color
- French tip nail color
- Jelly nail stamper
- Acetone
- Cleanup brush or cotton swab
- Optional: clear tape
In this tutorial I am featuring the Nails Inc French Mani Hack. It contains the most perfect shades of nail polish, plus the right type of stamper. You can use any nail polish that you have on hand. You will need a solid white as well as a neutral sheer shade that closely matches your natural nail color. I do challenge you to be creative. Your tips can be any color that you want, and you can even use multiple shades for an ombre affect. Your base color can also be anything that you desire.
I also own the Salon Perfect French Nail Stamper and have successfully used it. The key here is that you need a squishy clear jelly nail stamper. One of the firmer, more opaque ones will not work with this technique. These nail stampers are normally readily available for next to nothing on Amazon.
You will want to have my nail care routine and basic manicure how-to opened alongside this tutorial, as it will be referenced. In that tutorial, you will want to follow the steps to prep your nails. That includes removing any existing nail color, filing and shaping, cuticle pushing, dehydrating, and applying base coat.
2) Apply Base Color
You will apply your base color. The nail care routine tutorial explains how to paint a solid color onto your nails, and that two coats is preferred. Allow each layer to dry.
The base color from this kit is excellent to repurpose for other manicures! It is great for doing soap nails at home.

3) Use The Stamper
You will want to apply a generous coating of the tip color to your stamper. Now, you will want to pretend that you live in slow motion, as I repeat the word a lot. Slowly press your natural nail tip into the stamper at a 45 degree angle. I essentially use my natural nail tip as a guide of how deep to go.
While pressed in, gently rock your nail to the left, then the right, and back to center. This will get the edges and give you that nice curve. Finally, slowy back your nail out. Going slow allows the nail polish to evenly coat the nail. Repeat this for all fingers.
As you work, you will need to remove the exess polish from the stamper. Never use nail polish remover for this, as it will ruin your stamper. You can use clear tape, or press it onto a paper towel. My paper towel did not leave residue on the stamper. Another suggestion is using a silicone nail mat to protect your surface, and you can stamp the stamper onto the mat to transfer the excess off.

4) Cleanup Edges
The process is going to get some polish onto your skin. You can use a cleanup brush or cotton swap dipped in 100% pure acetone to remove it. I also cover that in my nail care routine.

5) Top Coat
The last step in a nail stamper French manicure is applying two coats of top coat, allowing each layer to dry. The details are also covered in my nail care routine. At this point, you are ready to enjoy your manicure!
This process does take practice, and mine are not fully uniform. However, this method works the best for me over all others. This is one of my favorite nail stamper tutorials, with my other being how to do tie dye nail art without water.
