As the year winds down, we are in for a Play! by Sephora October 2019 review. The theme of this box is the “Joy of Complexion,” where Sephora is giving us our own beauty recipe. Based upon this information, I am expecting products for the face, whether it be foundation, moisturizer, serum, etc. The box does feel rather light. Since the products are truly a mystery until we open the box, let’s get started.
beautyblender Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation in 1.50c
The first product in this Play! by Sephora October 2019 review is beautyblender’s Bounce Liquid Whip Foundation. Because of the design of the sample’s packaging, I cannot tell if this is a good shade match for me. It claims to be a full coverage, matte foundation that features a lightweight formula that also moisturizes the skin. You should be able to wear the formula for 24 hours. It can be applied with any tool that you prefer- a sponge, brush, etc. I like that the sample packaging is designed to mimic the actual product in how the product dispenses.
Moroccanoil Night Body Serum
Second is the bonus sample, which is Night Body Serum by Moroccanoil. It does not really fit the theme of the box. You are to apply a thin layer of the serum all over your body before bed in an upward sweeping motion. It claims to strengthen and protect your skin from environmental stressors. The formula is thick with an incredibly mild moroccanoil scent.
Cover FX High Performance Setting Spray
Third is the Cover FX High Performance Setting Spray. It claims to keep your makeup in place for 24 hours with a fresh look and weightless feel. You are to shake the product well, then hold the bottle eight to 10 inches away from your skin to mist. It should dry fast, melt your makeup into your skin, and protect your skin from environmental stressors.
Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Full Coverage Foundation in Y205 Alabaster
Fourth is Make Up For Ever’s Matte Velvet Skin Foundation in Alabaster. This shade is definitely too light for me, so I will need to mix it with another foundation or find something else to darken it up. It claims to have a breathable and weightless formula that stays fresh for 24 hours. You can apply it with any tool of your choice.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
Fifth is Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer. This is my favorite primer, so I am glad that I do not have to buy more. I believe that it does make your makeup last longer, while providing a smooth base. It also slightly blurs.
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation in 15N Fair Light Neutral
The last product in this Play! by Sephora October 2019 review is Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation in Fair Light Neutral. Based upon other samples in this same shade, I know it is a bit too dark for me. There is such a contrast with all of the foundation shades sent in this box! It claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with buildable, weightless coverage. This is a dropper-style foundation, but the dropper does not dispense the product well. You can apply the foundation directly onto a brush and buff it in, but I know that I will use a sponge. The more drops that you use, the more coverage you should get. Be sure to shake this product well before each use.
We are at the end of this Play! by Sephora October 2019 review. I am excited to play around with these different foundations, primers, and setting sprays. Do not get me wrong, while I do love skincare and haircare, makeup is my favorite, so this dedicated box is definitely a hit! I will have to try each of these products separately so that I can accurately assess how well they work and report back. The wildly different foundation shades will be a challenge to work with. Do you use any of these products? Please let me know in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
