Sometimes when I make my lists of fashion trends I feel like a broken record when trends do not change much from season to season. While we can never be too sure what each season will bring us, these summer 2019 fashion trends finally breathe a breath of fresh air. You will notice that some of these trends have not come around for a while, or really not at all, with just a few repeats. I invite you to peruse this list of 11 trends and treat it as your shopping and closet companion this season. Time to get right into the list.
Summer 2019 Fashion Trends
1) Stripes
The first style from my summer 2019 fashion trends list is stripes! Yes, it seems like these will not go away from season to season. We are seeing stripes on absolutely everything- from capris, to jumpsuits, dresses, and more. Odds are you have something in your closet with stripes, so you are ready to tackle this trend!
2) Matching two-piece sets
Second, we are seeing an abundance of matching, two piece sets. They are typically seen as a sleeveless shirt and capris combo, and often feature stripes and/or button down shirts.
3) Varsity or athletic style
Third, athletic or varsity style pieces are taking precedence. I personally do not like this look because it is too “lazy” or “comfortable” for my taste. We are talking about pieces with sporty stripes that fit in well with track or field aesthetics.
4) 90s vibes
Number four is 90s flair! As a 90s baby myself, I am all about this look. Pull out your stripes, prints, denim, butterfly hair clips, tattoo chokers, and more because they are SO back in style.
5) Long chiffon hair scrunchies
Continuing on with my summer 2019 fashion trends list are long chiffon hair scrunchies. Regular hair scrunchies are totally on trend, but the added long and flowing material provides a child-like, whimsy flair that is ultra girly to complete any outfit.
6) Tropical or palm print
Next, tropical prints are having a huge moment, and I am all about it! Tropical prints are literally on everything, from bodysuits, to rompers, dresses, shorts, shirts, etc. I cannot get enough of this look that screams perpetual vacation.
7) Tube tops
Unfortunately, tube tops are making their rounds again. I remember tube tops being in style around the time that I graduated high school and started college, and since then I have donated all of my tube tops. While I am not a fan of this look, you may find their versatility and layering properties helpful in creating unique outfits, or just to stay cool in the summer heat.
8) Off-the-shoulder pieces
Do off-the-shoulder pieces ever go away? This season we are primarily seeing them on shirts, dresses, and jumpsuits. I for one am really not complaining, as they are totally feminine and flattering for your shoulders.
9) Strappy shoes
There is not a whole lot going on with summer 2019 shoes that is outside of the ordinary or noteworthy, but I am seeing a lot of “strappy” shoe/sandal options. I believe that the more straps the better because they take a basic shoe and make it something extra without added effort.
10) Hoop earrings and layered necklaces
Jewelry is not all that exciting in summer 2019. We are still seeing mostly layered, dainty necklaces and hoop earrings.
11) Trending colors
To end this list of summer 2019 fashion trends, I want to touch on four colors we are seeing a lot. You will notice that the shades of yellow, blue, pink, and olive are not your normal hues. They appear to be what I would call “dusty,” or light, but not necessarily pastel. See the images below for actual examples of what I mean.
Yellow
Dusty blue
Olive
Dusty pink
In summary of the summer 2019 fashion trends, I am excited to report that we have some fresh trends this season that we have not seen for a while, or even ever! Whether you are someone who likes comfort, effortless style, or a more done-up appearance, I think there is a trend for all styles. If you look hard enough in your own wardrobe, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how many of these trends you actually have. Which of the trends are your favorite? Please let me know in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
