Rolling into spring I have my Play! by Sephora April 2019 review. This month’s theme is Winning Beauty. It focuses on must-have makeup, comforting skincare, and nurturing haircare. As is typical each month, I truly do not know what to expect in my box. I am always hoping to steer clear of repeats, primers, moisturizers, and mascaras, as Sephora loves to bog us down with such samples. To spare you further delay, I will cut into the seal and begin this review and unboxing.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

The first item in my Play! by Sephora April 2019 review is Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. It is a makeup remover that features an innovative formula that transforms from a balm, to an oil, to a milk. You are to apply it to your dry face to remove makeup and sunscreen, and then rinse thoroughly. It claims to nourish the skin for a fresh, dewy glow. The product is milky white in color. The sample comes in a ginormous cardboard package that is completely unnecessary.

Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black

Second I have Clinique’s High Impact Mascara in Black. This is a repeat sample from the August 2017 box where the mascara came attached to a lash primer. High Impact claims to lengthen, volumize, and define your lashes with a richly pigmented formula.

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizing Primer in Mattifying Primer

Third I have the Skin Equalizing Primer from Make Up For Ever. It claims to soften pores, to smooth the skin, to even your tone, to hydrate, and to help your makeup stay put with a firmer appearance. You are to apply a quarter-size amount over your skin after skincare but before foundation. The primer is translucent with no scent.

Glamglow Good in Bed Passionfruit Softening Night Cream

Fourth is the Softening Night Cream from Glamglow. It claims to smooth, exfoliate, soften, visibly plump, hydrate, and to reduce dullness, uneven texture, and dryness. You are to apply a dime-size amount to clean skin as your final skincare product nightly. The product is a yellow cream with a passionfruit scent.

Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment in Translucent

Fifth I have a translucent lip balm from Fresh. This is my third Fresh lip balm sample- each time I am sent a different color/scent. I am not mad because these actually work for me. This balm claims to moisturize, enhance volume, improve definition of the lip area, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, act as a lipstick base, and to provide lasting effects for 24 hours. You can apply it any time of day, but for me I will use it before bed. It has a sweet, yet mild mint scent.

Youth to the People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream

The final item in my Play! by Sephora April 2019 review is the Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream from Youth to the People. It claims to hydrate, calm, and soothe the skin. You are to apply a quarter-size amount onto your clean face both in the morning and evening. The moisturizer is off white in color and has a natural, plant-like scent. Youth to the People is not skimping on filling up the jar!

In summary of my Play! by Sephora April 2019 review, I do have products that I prefer not to see in my box. Additionally, there are no haircare products like the theme stated there should be. It is challenging for me to say whether or not this box lives up to the theme, as I do not know how desirable these products currently are, but the calming skincare theme is satisfied. What are your thoughts on this box? Is it a pass or a purchase? Please let me know in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
