It is time to start the new year off right with my Play! by Sephora January 2019 review. The theme of this box is “Your Beauty Future.” With this in mind, the samples inside are intended to improve your beauty condition over time and ultimately get your year started on the right foot. If I had to guess as to what type of samples are in the box, I would figure plenty of skin care and hair care. Without further delay I am going to cut the seal and reveal my samples.
Marajo Nourishing Cleansing Creme & Deep Treatment Butter
To start my Play! by Sephora January 2019 review I have a shampoo and conditioner duo from Marajo that is a repeat from the June 2018 box. First, the shampoo claims to hydrate, while the conditioner nurtures for luxurious, healthy hair. Both of these products claim to eliminate flyaways and add volume and shine. The directions are standard to any shampoo and conditioner. As for the smell they have a lovely perfumed scent and a pale yellow hue. These one-time-use foil packets are the bonus in this box.
Belif Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask
Second I have the Belif Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask. I am a fan of the aqua bomb moisturizer, so I have my fingers crossed for this mask. To list the claims it should replenish, hydrate, and revive the skin. It touts to hae a jelly-pudding texture that is lightweight. The directions state to apply a quarter-sized amount in a thin layer onto your face. Be sure to leave it on overnight and rinse it off in the morning. I am confident that I will get multiple uses out of the provided pod.
Sunday Riley Good Genes All-in-one Lactic Acid Treatment
Third I have a lactic acid treatment from Sunday Riley. I was initially confused by the large foil packet, as I could feel a small tube inside. Opening the packet revealed the actual sample. The formula makes a ridiculous number of claims:
- To clarify
- Improve the appearance of dark spots, wrinkles, fine lines, and discoloration
- Illuminate or boost radiance
- Exfoliate
- Smooth uneven texture
- Plump
Good Genes is developed for all skin types and you are to apply a dime-sized amount to clean, dry skin. It has a noticeable scent that is herbal, or even “zesty,” and it is a white cream.
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream
Next I have my first ever product from Drunk Elephant- the Lala Retro Whipped Cream. I am not talking about Cool Whip or Ready Whip here, but this formula is light-weight, airy, and whipped. Never have I used a beauty product like this before. This whipped cream is a moisturizer that nurtures dry, dull skin with a dose of hydration. Further claims include that it fights signs of aging and relieves irritation from environmental stressors. You are to apply a dime-size amount of this unscented white cream to your clean face, neck, and chest.
Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Glace
Fifth I have a beautiful, mauve matte lip crayon from Bite. It claims to have a highly pigmented formula that is long-wearing and makes your lips look supple and smooth. From the swatch I can say that it is highly pigmented, matte, and smooth without dragging. It also smells like dessert!
beautyblender blendercleanser Solid Pro
The last item Play! by Sephora January 2019 review is a solid sponge cleanser, and I have been into these lately! blendercleanser is a charcoal-infused soap that cleanses brushes and sponges. Simply wet your tool and rub it onto the soap, creating a lather. Run your tool under water and squeeze or rinse until the soap is washed out. So far I have had good luck with e.l.f. and Equate’s version of this bar of soap, and I am excited to try this one out. I will store this in an empty container from a used up solid cleanser. You may want to find a container or baggie and do the same.
In summary of this Play! by Sephora January 2019 review I will say that four out of the six products align with the theme of the box. The sponge cleansing soap and lip crayon do not necessarily represent beauty that will transform you over time. However, I am pleased with this lineup and I feel that I will be able to use the products up quickly. I am also impressed by the brands included, as Sunday Riley and Drunk Elephant typically have high price tags. Have you tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comments section below, and continue to let your true beauty shine.
