With all of the top makeup brands dropping successful lip oils, it is not surprising that wet n wild is getting in on the action! They are dropping their own line and I am testing them to see how they stack up to their competitors.

Details & Claims

wet n wild Lip Oil where to buy

The wet n wild Lip Oil comes in 11 shades that are $5.98 each, which well undercut the competition. You get 7.11 mL or .24 fl oz of product in the component. They feature a huge doe-foot applicator.

In terms of where to buy the oil, they are a Walmart exclusive. You can find all 11 shades in store on the wet n wild counter, or, 10 shades online. As of now, Merlot Glass is missing. Hopefully, all shades will become available online. The official release date is June 24, 2024.

The lip oils claim to provide a sheer wash of color with plenty of hydration. The hydration comes from a blend of seven key oils known for their nourishing and calming properites: Cherry, Marula Oil, Camellia, Joboja Oils, Avocado Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil, and Blueberry Seed Oil.

The formula should be weightless without a greasy or sticky feeling that you can build. You can wear them alone or over your favorite lip color/liner. They feature a light vanilla mint scent that is cooling. They should have a high-shine finish.

To apply the oils, swipe the product onto your lips. Press your lips together to distribute the oil.

Review

wet n wild Lip Oil applicator

When evaluating my wet n wild Lip oil review, keep in mind that I have been covering all of the brand’s new releases in detail since 2015. I am no stranger to drugstore lip oil as I have a full test of the elf Glow Reviver Lip Oil.

These lip oils have a very mild, barely there vanilla mint scent. The cooling sensation is delayed. It takes a few minutes of wear to feel it, and it is just as mild as the flavor. The formula is not sticky or greasy. It does feel thick on the lips in a good way and it is lightweight. The large doe-foot applicator is super easy to work with and hugs the lips without making a mess.

The shades that contain glitter really do not show the glitter on the lips. The high shine and juicy look is definitely here! In looking at the clear packaging, the shades that look the most sheer are. The shades that look to have the most pigment are very pigmented for an oil, more so than other brands. wet n wild has always been impressive with their punchy pigment sheer glosses.

I love to wear this product over bare lips and go slightly outside of the lines for a plump, juicy look. These are also enjoyable layered over a lip liner and/or a lip color. You cannot expect an oil to be transfer-proof or long wearing, so, reapply these as needed. Here is an analysis of their performance:

  • Hydration Duration: 6 hours before re-application is needed.
  • Hydration Levels: Moisture level of lips increased by 40% after application.
  • Spreadability: 1 coat needed for sheer to medium coverage.
  • Wear Time: Wear time is less than 1 hour if eating and drinking.
  • Transfer Resistance: Not transfer-resistant, with 98% of product transferring to surfaces.
  • Price per Gram: $0.84 per gram.
  • Portability: Weighs 7.11 grams.

It is great that wet n wild is able to deliver seven high-quality, lip-loving oils combined in one product while keeping their price below the competition. The key ingredients listed above are known for providing long-lasting moisturization, calming, and nourishing benefits. If you suffer from dry lips, you will find these to be your next key staple. Your lips end up feeling soft and supple long after the oil wears away gracefully. I use lip exfoliator and lip balm every night before bed. Now that I am wearing this oil daily, my lips feel so soft afterwards, I am skipping the exfoliator! That is a first! You may even see some tint left over, but, they do not act as a stain.

They are a great alternative to traditional lip balms that contain ingredients that purposely dry out your lips so that you get addicted to the balm. This oil also is ideal for light makeup or no-makeup makeup looks.

The brand has tried lip oils in the past through limited edition collections. In considering the wet n wild Mood Collection as well as wet n wild Peanuts, all of those lip oils are standard in terms of their shine and packaging. This permanent lineup is where you get the buildable pigment and super juicy look. So, they are an improvement. Overall, these are a 10 out of 10!
