The first subscription box of 2020 is sitting on my doorstep. The theme of this Play! by Sephora January 2020 review is Stress-Free Beauty. When I think of anti-stress beauty products, I think of skincare such as masks and essential oils. I have no idea what Sephora is planning with this group of samples. Since we never know much before breaking into the products, I will spare you the lengthy introduction and get started.

Cover FX High Performance Setting Spray

The first item in this Play! by Sephora January 2020 review is Cover FX’s High Performance Setting Spray. It claims to keep makeup in place for 24 hours with a breathable, yet weightless formula that also defends against environmental stressors. You are to hold the bottle about eight inches from your face when spraying, and do shake it well before use. This product is a repeat from October 2019 box, so I already know my feelings based upon the last sample. It does not prolong the wear of my makeup, and the sprayer is junk.

Giorgio Armani Beauty Si Passione Perfume

Second is Si Passione by Giorgio Armani Beauty. This is a floral perfume with notes of black currant, rose, and musk.

Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion

Third is the Mega-Mushroom Relief and Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion from Origins. It claims to provide comfort to stressed-out skin by reducing redness and hydrating. You are to shake the bottle, and then pour it onto a cotton pad or your fingers and gently tap the product into clean skin. This product can be used in the morning and night. It is a clear liquid with a zesty herbal and medicinal scent. In doing research on what this “lotion” is used for, many use it as a daily moisturizer.

Glamglow Supermud Activated Charcoal Treatment Mask

Fourth is Glamglow’s Supermud Activated Charcoal Treatment Mask. It claims to purify and clarify the skin. You are to spread a thin layer over clean skin if you want to use it as an all-over mask. Leave it on for five to 20 minutes or until it is dry, then rinse it off with warm water. This mask can also be used as a spot treatment on pores and blemishes. You can use this product one to three times per week. This is a repeat from the November 2016 box.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

Fifth is Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer, which is also from the October 2019 box. I gave my last sample away to a friend, and here it is again. As much as I despise repeats, this is my all-time favorite primer that I use for special occasions. I firmly believe that it prolongs the wear of makeup while providing a smooth base. Per the directions, you are to apply a dime-size amount onto your skin. I like to let it set before going in with makeup. It will blur minor imperfections, but a pore filling primer is needed for severe areas.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

The last sample in this Play! by Sephora January 2020 review is Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper. After using countless samples of this eyeliner, I know that I love it, just not enough to pay for a full-size. It features a brush tip wand that never weakens or separates for ultimate control. You get a nice, matte black line with this product, and I highly recommend it. This eyeliner is found in the May 2018 box and the September 2016 box.

Conclusion

We are at the end of this Play! by Sephora January 2020 review. We are starting the new year with four out of six products being repeats. It is probably not fair to complain that much, considering my subscription dates back to 2015. There is probably no way to avoid repeats in the mix. But, I really love the Smashbox primer and the Kat Von D liner, so welcoming them back into my lineup is easy. I hope that the Origins treatment lotion does some work on my natural redness. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
