I view the theme as products that will support what you already use and love. We can never guess exactly what samples we will get, so we shall open the box together.
Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter
The first sample in this Play! by Sephora August 2019 review is Alterna Haircare’s Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter. It claims to prevent frizz by acting as a leave-in hair cream. You are to apply a quarter-size amount to your damp hair and it should transform from a cream to an oil. It is a translucent white cream with a light, fruity haircare scent.
Ren Clean Skincare Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream
Second is Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream by Ren Clean Skincare. It claims to not only soothe your skin but also to provide comfort and protection to skin in distress by utilizing antioxidants. You are to massage a dime-size amount onto your clean face and neck until it is absorbed. It can be used in the morning and night. The scent is a gentle herbal or medicinal aroma in the white cream.
Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinol Serum
Third is Sunday Riley’s A+ High Dose Retinol Serum. It combats the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. You are to apply a dime-size amount of the translucent yellow serum onto clean, dry skin at night but before applying moisturizer. This product is very runny and starts to come out as soon as you remove the cap, so be careful! The scent is tricky to describe.
Algenist Genius Sleeping Collagen
Fourth is Genius Sleeping Collagen from Algenist. This is a night cream that fights the look of fine lines and wrinkles. You are to massage a pearl-size amount onto your face, neck, and decollete at night as the last step in your skin care routine. This is a white cream that has a faint dessert-like scent.
Bobbi Brown Enriched Face Base Priming Moisturizer
Fifth is Bobbi Brown’s Enriched Face Base Priming Moisturizer. This primer and moisturizer hybrid claims to keep your makeup in place all day by providing cushiony coverage and a smooth base. You are to apply a pearl-size amount onto clean, dry skin after your skincare products but before foundation. It is an off-white cream with a rose or plant-like scent.
Buxom Full On Plumping Lip Cream Gloss in Hot Toddy
The last sample in this Play! by Sephora August 2019 review is Buxom’s Full On Plumping Lip Cream Gloss in Hot Toddy. In swatching this lip gloss I can tell that it is very sticky and a sheer pink. The formula is shimmer free and provides a more cream like color. It claims to wrap your lips in moisture while visibly plumping. It has a cupcake or dessert-like smell.
We are at the end of this Play! by Sephora August 2019 review. One major note in summary of this box is that we have six deluxe samples instead of five and a bonus item. There are no foil packets or fragrances in sight! I believe that the samples do fit the theme as they play a role in perfecting your beauty base before you go in with other products.
