It is finally time for my Walmart Beauty Box summer 2018 review. Right off the bat I will say that the box design is gorgeous, and I will be keeping this box, which is a first for me. Time to open it up and get the real story.
Just when I was thinking that Brandshare got their act together, I realized that I was fooled. There are issues with the past and currnet quaterly shipments of boxes causing them to ship a season late despite customers being charged for the shipping. The best response that I can get from Brandshare is that there are an overwhelming amount of new subscriptions adding some shipping strain. I was impressed when the spring box was shipped on time, and the summer box was charged to my account in June. However, it has taken nearly a month and a half for the box to arrive, which is the complaint of many subscribers. I also am reading some reviews where people are saying that they are getting a bunch of foil packet samples and nothing else, not even any coupons.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrogel Mask
This particular mask is made of a hydrogel material that contours to your skin. It claims to quench, deeply hydrate, and to leave the skin supple. You are to apply the mask to clean skin and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. After removing the mask you are to massage the excess serum into the face and neck.
Garnier SkinActive Soothing 3 in 1 Moisturizer
I would rather that the product came in a reusable container. This moisturizer from Garnier can be used as a day or night moisturizer, as well as a face mask, hence the three in one idea. No matter how you use it, it is safe for daily use. The directions for use as a mask say to leave it on for 10 minutes and “tissue off” the excess. That sounds weird to me. I am sure that after 10 minutes there will be more residue left than something you can tissue off, but ok. The product contains rose water and claims to soothe, hydrate, and reduce skin tightness.
Nair Wax Ready Strips
I have to admit that I am horrified to see these wax strips. I am not really a fan of the idea of waxing. Preferably I reach for classic Nair or a rechargeable razor for shaving purposes. This is probably a sample that I will unfortunately not use from sheer fright. These wax strips are designed for use on the face and bikini area. You receive four strips in total, which are revealed when you peel the paper. You are to press the strips onto hair in the direction of the growth. Next, hold your skin taught and pull the strip quickly off in the opposite direction of growth. Finally, use the post wax wipe to sooth, moisturize, and remove excess wax.
Garnier Fructis Damage Repairing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask with Papaya Extract
This is not the first time that I have gotten a sample of a Repairing Treat mask. I find the listed uses to be gimmicky, as uses one and two are really the same, at least in my routine. The first use is a hair mask by leaving the product on for one minute after shampooing. The second use is as a conditioner by applying it then rinsing it off. Lastly, it can be used as a leave-in conditioner. I must say that the papaya smells delicious.
Kleenex Wet Wipes Gentle Clean
The last product I am expecting to get in a “beauty” box is wet wipes. I am doing some research and it appears that the majority of people who use these wipes are mothers who clean up messy kids. I have no idea how that is beauty or summer related, nor do wet wipes fit into my routine. Since these are safe for the face, I will try them as makeup remover wipes.
Pantene Pro-v Sheer Volume Foam Conditioner
This is a repeat from a past box. In using this foam conditioner up I do not think it does anything for my hair. Since this is the only foam conditioner that I have tried, I am not sure if it does not work, or if foam conditioners do not work in general. I like standard conditioner that makes my hair immediately feel softer and detangled in the shower, with lasting benefits. I understand that the foam absorbs into the hair, but my hair feels like I did not use conditioner, and this product certainly does not add volume. Needless to say, I am not jumping for joy over the fact that another can has dropped into my lap. The product directions state to shake the can well and apply a palm-sized amount to wet hair after shampooing, then rinse.
Tthe products received are mostly meeting my low expectations. This is probably the most disappointing box out of my entire subscription. Between the foil packets, repeat conditioner, random wet wipes, and wax strips not being my cup of tea, I have to call this box a no-go. Do you subscribe to the Walmart Beauty Box?
