I have never been a fan of hats, and the reason is vain. Hats will mess up my hair, so I want no part in them, not even in the winter. However, I have been bit by the fedora bug! When I think about the best women’s hats for fall, fedoras are it. My fascination is stirring primarily due to my favorite boutiques always sporting fedoras on their models, but the hats are typically trendy in the fall anyway. In this post I will share how I am building my fedora collection, as well as discuss their versatility, provide options you can shop, and more. You will come to see how much of a wardrobe staple these hats truly are.
Versatility
Fedoras are the best women’s hats for fall for a reason! First of all, you can wear them with any outfit. Whether you are doing jeans and a t-shirt, a dress, or something in between, you can make a fedora work for you.
The material for fedoras is typically wool, which we associate with fall and winter. While these hats will keep your head somewhat warm, you can honestly wear fedoras all year round. This fact makes the investment 100% worth it.
Keeping Style in Mind
Perhaps my favorite aspect of fedoras is how they instantly level up your style. Popping a hat on your head literally takes two seconds, but it can transform your outfit and serve as that final missing piece. You can grab one as you run out the door and be on your way. I love how these hats make you look more stylish with little to no effort. You will be perceived as a fashionista who really knows how to style pieces, but only you will know how easy the job is.
Be Frugal
Fedoras can get rather expensive quickly. My Walmart hats are $10 a piece, which really adds up if you buy multiples. Some retailers will charge upwards of $30 or $40 for a single fedora. Ouch! I recommend checking out discounted retailers. To date, I have purchased four quality fedoras from Gabes in the price range of $5.99 to $6.99. Style does not have to break the bank.
My Collection
Since I am only beginning to grow my collection, I am starting out with core colors that will match most outfits, then I will branch off from there. I recommend that you start out with some neutrals like black, white, taupe, gray, etc. and then build from that point.
My first ever fedora is from Walmart under the No Boundaries brand. Something about this brown hat with gold studs speaks to me. I regret not purchasing it in olive. This chocolate hue is easily matched up with my overflowing variety of leopard pieces in my closet.
I have another Walmart fedora, but from the Time and Tru brand. Taupe can pretty much be styled with anything, which makes it a must-have color for sure. I admire the braided detail and I encourage you to consider fedoras that add some subtle details to your outfit.

I admittedly get the least use out of my gray fedora, but gray is an important neutral to consider adding to your collection. This hat is from Loft but found at Gabes.
Burgundy always comes out to play in the fall and winter. If you are a major burgundy fan like me, then a burgundy fedora is a no brainer for you. You can wear this hat with all of your favorite burgundy pieces. This hat is also from Loft found at Gabes and its exactly the same as the gray one above.

I do not think we can chat about the best women’s hats for fall and not throw in a black hat. Like I say about the taupe fedora, black is absolutely a staple color to have, and you may consider making your first hat black. I get the most use out of this Prana fedora from Gabes because I can very well get away with pairing it with anything.
A red fedora adds a fun pop of color! This one is Adrienne Vittadini from Gabes. I love how it has an “AV” logo on it because those are my initials. Just imagine how awesome this hat looks with red plaid, specifically in the fall and winter.

Conclusion
In summary of the best women’s hats for fall, fedoras are the clear winner. But, I want to be straight here- you can style these hats all year round. They instantly add that missing touch to any outfit and make you that much more stylish. I recommend starting your collection with core neutral colors to get yourself going. Always consider discount retailers for your fedoras so that you do not spend an arm and a leg. To me, a hat is a hat. Whether you spend $10 or $100 it is all about self expression and feeling your best. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
