The internet is flooded with websites touting lists of beauty tools that you just have to buy, or those that are the “weirdest,” or even the best of the best from Amazon. Well, I am here to cut through the noise. Those lists are full of gimmicks and junk that is just begging for your hard-earned cash, but with no reward. I have developed for you an arsenal of beauty tools every woman needs based upon tools that I love and that I use every single day, or almost every day, for years. The tools and gadgets on this list are absolute beauty game changers that I cannot live without. Time to begin.
I do want to clarify when I say ‘beauty tools’ that I am not talking about makeup brushes or tools that directly apply your makeup, per se. I am talking about tools that are accessories to your makeup/skincare/beauty routines that make life easier.

Beauty Tools Every Woman Needs
Hair Removal
First up for beauty tools every woman needs are some hair removal tools that are worth every penny. Both of these tools take up permanent residence on my vanity.
- Finishing Touch Flawless: Since we are all friends here, I admit that I have unwanted facial hair. But, the thought of electric razors, especially for use on the delicate face, freak me out. This product has changed my life! You cannot feel anything when you use it, and it never hurts me. It removes all of my unwanted facial hair so that I never have to live with it again! I use this product a few times per week, or as needed.
- Flawless Brows: I pluck my brows daily without fail. This tool gets used every day to supplement my plucking routine. I use tweezers to remove some select brow hairs, then I go in and finish up the job with Flawless Brows. By the way, this product is painless as well.
I do want to say that I have almost all of the tools in the Flawless line and I love them so much! But, since I am sticking to beauty here, I am not going to the body tools.
Fun with Foundation
Second are some tools that put the ‘fun’ back into foundation.
- elf Artist Mixing Palette: I use this mixing palette a lot of the time when applying foundation. You can see that mine is dirty because it gets good use! This is great for mixing products into your foundation, for mixing foundations together, or for lightening or darkening your foundation. Also, if I am using a foundation that does not have its own applicator, I apply it directly onto this palette and then onto my face. You can use anything from around the house as a foundation palette, so you do not necessarily need to buy this one. But, its $2 and comes with a strap to wear it on your arm, which I do use. If elf ever does a 50% off sale then you can get it for $1.
- elf Dual Sided Silicone Blender: I cannot believe I am recommending a silicone foundation applicator, but, hear me out! The back side of the blender is made out of a velvety material that blends your foundation into your skin beautifully without any streaks. It really makes your foundation look skin-like! You have to use the silicone side to get the foundation spread out and distributed all over your face, as the velvet side can only handle the blending in part. This product is, of course, easy to clean and more anti-microbial than a sponge. I do not expect it to ever fall apart. This is a hidden drugstore gem for sure!
Scrape Out Every Last Drop
Third are some beauty spatulas that will enable you to never waste product (and money!) again.
- Spatty Money Saving Spatulas: I first purchased the original Spatty Spatula years ago, and since then, I find a use for it every day and I cannot live without it! How did I ever manage before it came into my life?! It is 6 inches long. With its silicone tip you can scrape out beauty products to make sure you get every last drop. It can also be used to mix products, such as foundation. Additionally, I use it to dispense products that are potted or in jars so that I do not need to stick my fingers directly in. I detest getting product under my fingernails! Recently, I found a HUGE 12 inch Spatty and I purchased it immediately! It is great for scraping out larger products, such as shampoos. These spatulas will be your new addiction, I promise.

Makeup Brush Bath Time
Third are products that make washing your makeup brushes a little bit faster.
- Makeup brush drying rack: Wet makeup brushes should never be stored upright until they are completely dry, as the water will ruin the glue that holds the bristles in place. You can totally lay your brushes flat on a paper towel or rag and not actually buy a rack. However, I believe that the rack helps your brushes to dry faster hanging upside down than when they are lying down horizontally. Ever since buying this tool I have never looked back.
- Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette: You can totally go sans tools to wash your brushes and simply use your hands. However, in my experience, a tool to help you scrub gets the soap deeper into your brushes for an overall cleaner brush. The cleansing mats that you place into your sink are ok, but this cleansing palette gives you ultimate control because it has a strap that you slide your hand into. I have been using this for years and I have never gone back to using my hands alone.

Face Mask and Relax!
Next up for beauty tools every woman needs is a simple tool.
- Silicone mask applicator: Since obtaining my first silicone mask applicator, I never use my hands to apply masks, no matter if the mask is potted or in a tube. This is so much more sanitary than using your hands, and it spreads masks out evenly all over the face. Also, you do not need to stick your fingers into potted masks. The best part is, these are super inexpensive! Below I am picturing an applicator from Dollar Tree, but I also have one from Yes To and Freeman. If you want a mess-free masking experience and an even coating on your face, then you need one of these tools.
Catch the Mess
Here is a tool to help you control a messy vanity.
- The Makeup Mat: I found this mat hanging on a clip strip in Walmart many moons ago, and it is a life saver! It protects the top of my vanity from all sorts of messes that occur while applying makeup or skincare. You can see that mine is very dirty because it gets used daily, but it machine washes like a dream! I set my dirty, used makeup brushes and sponges on this mat while applying makeup, and work with loose powders over top of this mat. It catches everything to control messes. Also, you can easily dry your wet sponges by laying them on this airy mat. I carry my sponges around the house from the sink to my vanity right on top of this mat.
Get Every Detail
The last beauty tool every woman needs is this lighted mirror.
- Conair Reflections Mirror: This lighted mirror goes with me everywhere, even if I travel. It has five light settings, but I always use Day because it turns on all of the bulbs with the brightest light. Since 2015 I only had one bulb burn out, and I easily replaced it with a standard night light bulb, which works great! No reason to contact Conair for a fancy replacement bulb. The mirror is double-sided and spins around so that you can use either the normal side or the magnified side. I always use the normal side. It plugs into an outlet, so no need for batteries. The back side is adjustable (as pictured) so that you can get the best viewing angle for you. I always leave it as straight as possible. It folds down for travel and storage, and can be cleaned easily with Windex. When I do makeup, skincare, or whatever, I NEED to see every detail up close, and I never use the mirrors that come inside of makeup palettes. This mirror lets me see everything in detail, and I am nothing short of addicted. It is the best gift I have never received, and it is worth your money.
Conclusion
We are at the end of my recommendations for beauty tools every woman needs. There is no fluff, gimmicks, or odd tools here! Each one of these tools will make you wonder how you ever got by without them, and I know for sure that you will walk away with at least one tool to try out. If I could urge you to try anything out of this list, start with the mirror and beauty spatulas. Do you have any recommendations for beauty tools you cannot live without?
