One of my favorite patterns to wear is palm, or tropical print. I have a ton of it in my wardrobe, and it is super fun to wear in the summer, and even in the spring! Palm print comes on every article of clothing you can imagine. This look book on how to style palm print features 17 outfits straight from my closet to inspire your next outfit. You will see a recurring theme here of pairing the print with white, cognac, and textures such as wicker, bamboo, straw, etc. Anything that has a beach or vacation vibe totally makes your palm print pop. You will be able to shop similar pieces to each of my outfits to aide in your quest to copy my style.
Look #1: Overall romper
My first outfit in this how to style palm print look book features an overall romper, which is perfect for layering! To do something different, I am layering it over a bodysuit, but of course you can use a shirt or whatever you like. I am enjoying how this palm print is not your typical green, as it features different pastel shades of blue, purple, pink, and teal. The romper is very busy, so a simple necklace brings the look together. Gladiator sandals give the eyes something to admire about your exposed legs. A pink handbag pulls out the pink in the romper.

Handbag- Steve Madden from Ross
Sandals- Route 66 from Kmart
Look #2: Long sleeve dress
Second is a busy palm print dress, but do not fear! I am keeping the other pieces simple as to not overcrowd this loud style. A solid white handbag supports the white background of the dress, but the round gold handles match the round gold earrings perfectly. White shoes do not create any sort of a distraction, but a slight heel reminds us that this outfit is absolutely meant to be dressy!

Shoes- Attention from Kmart
Handbag- Nine West from Macy’s
Look #3: Bodycon dress with kimono
Third is a rather elegant, and even sexy way to wear your palm print. The bodycon dress can totally stand on its own and does not need layered, but the detailed kimono adds that extra something. Make note of the charms that hang off the bangle bracelets, specifically the white pearlized shell charm that matches the earrings to a T. You can always wear bamboo with palm print, so here comes one of my favorite Betsey Johnson handbags. The pink bow can be removed, but I like the pop of color.

Look #4 Jeggings and wicker
Fourth, I am bringing flattering attention to your legs. I never know what the official name of these long shirts are, but they are a cross between a tunic and something high-low. Whatever they are, I feel instantly 100% stylish when I wear them! You have to cover your legs with these shirts, so why not try some jeggings? The shirt pulls the olive green hues out of the jeggings. White sandals brighten up all the olive green, but match the backdrop of the jeggings. The rich color of the wicker bag compliments the entire ensemble. Throw on a few layered necklaces and you look like a pro.

Look #5: Bring on the fringe
Number five in my how to style palm print look book packs on the fringe! The romper has fringe lining the ruffled top, and I am kicking it up 10 notches with the ruffled earrings. The earrings even compliment the fringe tassel on the front tie of the romper! While the pineapples in the print add plenty of interest, a laser cutout sandal keeps the fun rolling. A bamboo or wood-style handbag is highly appropriate, but the unexpected black twist matches every inch of the overall look.

Look #6: Bodysuit and shades of green
Next is a bodysuit style that is great for daily wear. The palm leaves feature many shades of green, and I am pulling them out with the dark green pants and the deep emerald handbag. Notice that the bodysuit straps tie at the top for an extra slice of pizazz. The rounded v-neck provides the perfect canvas for a layered necklace, and gold always works with green period. I cannot help myself so I am also wearing some large hoop earrings. You can never have too much!

Look #7: A little hibiscus
Here is a great outfit that is more dressy and perfect to wear out to dinner. Your ordinary palm print gets an extra kick of spice with pink hibiscus flowers. To add attention to the empty neck line, I am keeping the flowers going with floral jewelry. A shoe with a slight heel further solidifies the dressy look, but you can opt for a flat shoe if you need to turn the heat down. The clutch handbag adds a new texture to the outfit, but again supports a formal feel.

Shoes- Route 66 from Kmart

Look #8: Up in the palm trees
Continuing on, I have a casual, everyday dress. The palm trees on the dress feature many shades of green, so I am pulling the olive green out with the layered bead bracelets and the handbag. The handbag is one of my absolute favorites because it is so unique and strange. As you can imagine, it calls my name. I wish I saved the tag to know the brand name! To continue the casual feel, a flat sandal is the way to go.
Dress- Ocean Drive from Gabe’s
Bracelets- Gabe’s
Sandals- Joe Boxer from Kmart
Handbag- Peebles
Look #9: Flamingo pops
Next is an outfit with a playful top! This surplice shirt has so much going on with the leaves and flamingos. I know there is a lot of black, so I am breaking that up with navy blue shorts that are so dark they are practically black, which is a much needed risk. The coin necklace adds back the missing bling, but I choose to wear it under the shirt and not over for something different. All of the accents are consistently gold.
Shirt- Lily White from Charming Charlie
Shorts- Indigo Rein from Macy’s
Necklace- Forever21
Handbag- A New Day from Target
Shoes- Attention from Kmart
Look #10: Mixed blue and greens
Here is an outfit that plays with the eyes as part of my how to style palm print look book. A romper with pockets? Sign me up! I love the mixed shades of blue and green in the leaves, and the leaf earrings cannot match any better. I like to wear this outfit to hang out with friends, as it sits halfway between casual and dressed up. As you experiment with shoes and handbags, you can control which side it leans towards the most.

Look #11: Jade jumpsuit
Pressing on, I have a breezy jumpsuit that is ever so pleasing to the eye. I cannot get over the jade hues that pop exquisitely on the black backdrop. The necklace is a perfect match, and even the gold chain and other details are a win. I feel like I am up in the trees when I wear this, so out comes the wood bag again. Talk about the ultimate vacation vibes- this outfit brings them all to the table.

Look #12: Gone bananas (and mustard)
For this outfit I am doing something I have never done before. I have two variations for you to consider. Picture me standing on Gordman’s sales floor and my eyes come across the shorts, bodysuit, and tube top, and they all match. Well, I am buying all three! I am not a big fan of showing my midriff, and the tube top shows a lot of skin. If you feel the same way as me, the bodysuit is a great alternative. Since the shorts feature a paper bag waist, I want to make sure it is featured, so either top allows for that. There is mustard yellow in the bananas, which is why my top options are both mustard. Cognac is a great match for these color families, which is where the shoes and handbag come in. As an added bonus, both the shoes and handbag have gold accents. The earrings blow me away because the blended colors on the leaves match the colors on the shorts 100% perfect.
Top- Paper + Tee from Gordman’s
Shorts- Bebop from Gordman’s
Handbag- Isabelle from TJMax
Earrings- C&C from TJMaxx
Shoes- Route66 from Kmart
The alternative bodysuit is Aveto from Gordman’s
Look #13: Blushed hues mixed in
Next is a wondeful spring outfit with capris, but you can substitute shorts for warmer weather. This shirt is great for tucking partially in, all the way in, or letting it hang loose. You can even unbutton some of the lower buttons and tie the front. The palm leaves sit on top of a blush pink background, and the sandals are also pink. However, the sandals give you the bling factor. Bamboo-style hoops complement the whole idea of palm print. I can take or leave the crochet details on the capris. I am wearing them because I like the color of the denim with the outfit more than anything. The knit handbag just screams summer/beach/palm print to me.

Shoes- Time and Tru from Walmart

Look #14: Layered denim
Here is my ultimate layered look. Layers always give that ‘I know what I am doing with fashion’ appearance no matter how well versed you are. The tank top is one of my favorites because I like to wear matching coral eyeshadow and olive green eyeliner. Shorts with a distressed hem add attitude. The denim shirt matches the shorts perfectly, and it is a closet staple you will enjoy again and again. Cognac plays nice with all of these colors, so I have a matching handbag and gladiator sandal duo. A rose gold necklace may be an unexpected choice, but it looks nice with the tank top.

Look #15: 2-piece pant set
Leave it to me to bring two-piece sets back! This outfit from H&M feels like something to wear on vacation, to brunch, on a cruise, or whatever you dream up. Since the pants have a paper bag waist, I am unbuttoning the last few buttons on the shirt and then tying the front of the shirt up. Alternatively, you can tuck the shirt in. The white background is more of an off-white, as are the seashells in the necklace. Seashells plus palm print are the definition of summer. A neural shoe is the best option with the straw bag. You can always do straw with palm print without worry.

Look #16: 2-piece shorts set
That is right, I have another two piece outfit in this how to style palm print look book! This shirt and short number is the ultimate Ross steal. Both pieces are super soft and comfortable, and the shorts have an elastic waist. The shirt is very open, as it features a single snap button in the middle, and a long tie at the bottom. I am wearing a white bralette underneath to combat the open concept. The palm leaf earrings are a perfect match to the green leaves in the design. You can really dress this up or down depending on your shoe choice, and I am opting for simple white sandals for a casual feel. I have yet to whip out my pearl white acrylic bag that mimics bamboo, so here it is.
Shirt/shorts set- Indero from Ross
Handbag- Rachel Roy from TJMaxx
Earrings- Katydid
Shoes- Faded Glory from Walmart
Look #17: To have straps or not to have straps
The final outfit in my how to style palm print look book features a romper with removable straps. Straps give me more security, but there is a grip band on the inside seam to hold the romper up when strapless. It even has pockets! The entire romper is feminine and flirty, so I am adding a heel to keep the feeling alive. The leaf necklace is lime green, which pulls out hues from the romper. Straw is making another appearance here! A white handbag is not a wise choice because the romper is not pure white, so the tan straw is the natural compromise.
Romper- Davi and Dani from Madison and Mallory
Necklace- TJMaxx
Shoes- XOXO from Peebles
Handbag- Forever 21
Conclusion
In summary of this how to style palm print look book, this pattern will be your best friend all summer long. It is a recurring theme in my closet in the form of rompers, jumpsuits, dresses, jeggings, and more. Palm print works well with other summer textures like straw, bamboo, wood, knit, and wicker. You can experiment with golds, white, cognac, and shades of green to make your palm print pop. I love how it uplifts your spirit with perpetual summer vibes. I hope my 17 outfits and similar pieces are helpful and inspirational to you when you decide to make your own look. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
