Hemp is an ingredient that is taking the beauty market by storm! We are seeing it in makeup and skincare frequently. You might be wondering if hemp is bad for you. Is that not a drug? Hemp is a naturally derived ingredient that loves your skin! It is known to hydrate, nourish, and condition. So, you should not be afraid of it. This is my first time testing the hemp waters with an elf Cannabis Sativa Collection review. I was gifted the mini-sized collection for Christmas, and I have been trying everything out. As a matter of fact, I have completely finished the moisturizer and the lip balm, as well as a sample size of the oil. In this review I have full details, star ratings, and texture swatches. This post also functions as an elf hemp kit review!

What is it?
Before getting into the actual elf Cannabis Sativa Collection review, you need to understand the ins and outs of these products. This is a four item skincare collection that contains hemp seed oil. You should not confuse this collection with their Full Spectrum CBD line, as these products do not contain CBD or THC.

All the Feels Facial Oil – elf Hemp Oil Reviews
I am starting this elf Cannabis Sativa Collection review off with the All the Feels Facial Oil. With some oils, your skin feels oily for a while after application. As the day goes on the feeling either stops or gets worse. For that reason, along with my combination skin, I will not wear oil on makeup days. This one absorbs into the skin instantly with no greasy feeling so that I can wear it with makeup! This oil is so versatile for my routine, and I love that. It provides an added boost of hydration that is great on its own, with makeup, or even paired with elf’s other oil products like their essential oil mists.
Claims: This oil should be lightweight and non greasy. The formula absorbs quickly to nourish, condition, boost radiance, and moisturize.
Key Ingredients:
- Hemp Seed Oil – An amino-rich formula that helps nourish, hydrate, and condition the skin
- Squalane – known to help improve moisture and elasticity
- Rosehip Seed Oil – known to be rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids
Directions: As with any oil, you can apply it directly to the skin or mix it into other skincare products, such as moisturizer. Pat the product into the skin.

Happy Hydration Cream
Second is the elf Cannabis Sativa Happy Hydration Cream. This elf Cannabis Sativa moisturizer is a white cream. Since it is not a gel formula, it will not help to control oil production on oily or combination skin. However, it does effectively hydrate and moisturize all day. It does behave under makeup or on its own, as it also plays nice with elf’s facial oils. While the formula is somewhat rich, I do not 100% agree with that claim, but it is still lightweight and absorbs right into the skin. I like that it is not formulated with dyes or fragrance.
Claims:
- Rich, luxe formula
- Boosts hydration and prevents moisture loss
- Absorbs easily
- Locks in moisture
Key Ingredients:
- Hemp Seed Oil – An amino-rich formula that nourishes, hydrates, and conditions
- Vitamin B5 – Soothes and hydrates skin
- Hyaluronic Acid – Locks in moisture for a plump complexion
- Niacinamide – Minimizes pores and evens out skin tone
Directions: Gently massage a small amount onto clean skin in the morning and at night.

Puff Puff Primer
Third for the elf hemp product reviews is the Puff Puff Primer. It features a white cream formula that is easy to spread over the skin. The skin is left with a healthy glow sans the use of shimmer or glitter. It dries down to leave the skin feeling smooth, almost velvety, but not sticky. This primer does nothing to minimize or blur pores. Once you apply your foundation, the glow will be lost, as your complexion will take on the finish of your other products. Makeup does apply normally over top of this primer. At the end of the day I do see normal wear and tear, which I define as settling into smile lines and around the nose, as well as the crease of the chin. Otherwise, a slight amount of oil does peek through on the t-zone, but nothing out of the ordinary. You can see how this primer stacks up against many others from the brand in my elf primer wear-tests for combo skin.
Claims: This primer should nourish and prep your skin. The creamy formula absorbs quickly into the skin to soothe, hydrate, and condition your skin.
Key Ingredients:
- Hemp Seed Oil – An amino-rich formula that helps nourish, hydrate, and condition the skin
- Vitamins A and C – Antioxidants known to help brighten skin’s appearance
Directions: Apply to clean skin prior to makeup application. Use a small amount and blend evenly on your face.

Calm Balm
The last product in this elf Cannabis Sativa Collection review is the Calm Balm. I am sorry that I do not have a texture swatch to share, as I completely used this lip balm up before photographing! You can imagine it as a lip balm meets a lip oil, where you still have that clear and juicy shine, but it does not feel gross. So, it does feel like oil on the lips, but in a good way. I love that it does not have any dye or fragrance. I find this balm to be effective when paired with exfoliation.
Claims: This lip balm should nourish the lips and deliver a healthy, natural looking shine. It will also hydrate and condition the skin.
Key Ingredients:
- Hemp Seed Oil – An amino-rich formula that helps nourish, hydrate, and condition the skin
- Sunflower Seed Oil – antioxidant rich oil with soothing benefits to calm skin
Directions: Apply over lips as often as desired. Wear under any lip gloss or lipstick to prep and soften the lips. Apply before bed as an overnight lip treatment.

Conclusion
Now that we are at the end of this elf Cannabis Sativa Collection review, you should feel more confident about allowing hemp into your beauty routine. These products definitely work, and the variety of purchase options make it easy to try before you go full-size. Honestly, the facial oil is the big standout, as I no longer have to skip oil with makeup. From here it is easy to transition into other hemp products, as well as CBD. elf skincare is something that I am majorly getting into, and so far the results are highly pleasant. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
