This elf Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow review is an excellent time for all of us to sharpen our skillsets with liquid glitter. I have purchased all 12 shades in order to do a complete review including swatches, a star rating, claims, directions, a wear test, and more. By the end of this review you will know if these are worth your money, if they even work, and what shade(s) you want to pick up.
Details & Claims
I want to start with some purchase options for you. elf’s website is the best place to purchase. You can also find the eyeshadows online at Ulta, Amazon, and Walmart.
The gel-based formula should be long-lasting, quick-drying, and have one-swipe glitter coverage. The wear should be comfortable with minimal fallout. Overall, the pigmentation should yield a high-impact, opaque finish with multi-dimensional glitters.
You are to apply the eyeshadows to the eyelid using the applicator wand, your fingertips, or a flat eyeshadow brush. These can be worn alone or as an eyeshadow topper.
Swatches & Shades
elf offers a total of 12 shades, as swatched below. Here are the shade names with color descriptions:
- Disco Queen (holographic)
- Copper Pop (copper)
- Flirty Birdy (taupe)
- Pinky Swear (rose gold)
- Dirty Martini (olive gold)
- Black Magic (black)
- Purple Reign (purple)
- 24K Gold (gold)
- Mermaid Shimmy (mint)
- Cranberry Punch (cranberry)
- Ocean Eyes (blue)
- Bling Bling (silver)
Review
First, just as the directions state, you can easily apply these with the flat doe foot applicator, your fingers, or a flat eyeshadow brush. My brush of choice for any liquid eyeshadow is elf’s Flat Eyeshadow Brush. These dry quickly, but they provide you with enough time to work with them.
I recommend letting each layer of the product dry, if you plan on doing layers. You can build the pigmentation up to be nearly full coverage. The reason for that is the base is a colored, metallic eyeshadow with glitter in it, rather than being clear gel with glitter. When they dry they do not feel like powder, but they are comfortable. The amount of glitter is not overdone.
At the end of the day I do see minimal fallout on my face, but it is nothing that a duo fiber brush cannot quickly dust away, which is mentioned in the claims. I do find that these shadows last all day without fading, cracking, or creasing.
Essentially, at the end of the day they look exactly how you applied them. Do note that I always use eyeshadow primer, and never concealer, with eye makeup.
You can definitely wear these over top of eyeshadow, alongside eyeshadow, or simply on their own. I have hooded eyes and I find these difficult to work with if I bring them above the eyelid into the crease. I imagine if I kept my eyes closed and let the product dry that it would want to stay in my crease.
For anyone with hooded eyes, I recommend applying these no higher than the eyelid. You can also use them as eyeliner.

Makeup Look
I am doing a full-face makeup look of the brand. This is one of those makeup looks where I love the hair, but not the makeup. I attempted to do an eye look that I saw on Instagram, but it came out horribly messy. This is not a representation of the liquid eyeshadows, rather, my error. In hindsight, I should have used a lighter and more forgiving shade such as Pinky Swear because the flaws in my skillset would be harder to detect.
Alas, I have decided to share this makeup look anyway. I am sure most others would have deleted it, but we can learn a good lesson here. Even us who do makeup as influencers are not perfect. When you see perfect makeup online and wonder why yours never looks like that, the reason is many filters are being applied. This is real life and sometimes even my own makeup does not come out how I want it to, and that is 100% OK!
Please note that I do not own any elf mascara, so I am using other drugstore primer/mascara.
- Jelly Pop Dew Primer
- All Day Stay Eyeshadow Primer
- Sheer Blurring Under Eye Primer
- Lock On Lip Primer
- Camo CC Cream in Fair 120 N
- Hydrating Camo Concealer in Fair Warm
- Halo Glow Setting Powder in Light
- Instant Lift Brow Pencil in Neutral Brown
- Wow Brow Gel in Brunette
- Golden Bronzer
- Primer Infused Shimmer Blush in Always Hazy
- Shimmer Highlighting Powder in Starlight Glow
- Dewy Coconut Setting Mist
- Best Friend Eyeshadow Duo in Tea for Two
- Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow in Ocean Eyes
- Loreal Voluminous Primer**
- wet n wild Big Poppa Mascara in Blackest Black**
- Lip Liner & Blending Brush in Dark Brown
- Liquid Matte Lipstick Smokey Taupe
For the eye look I used the matte neutral shade in the Tea for Two Best Friend Eyeshadow Duo to set my eyelid primer. Then I applied the Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow in Ocean Eyes all over the eyelid and into the crease, as well as down below the lower lash line. I wanted to connect the lower lash line and crease together to make an angled down point. In an effort to salvage the look, I applied the Golden Bronzer to the crease, and then went back into the Tea for Two Best Friend Eyeshadow Duo and applied the shimmer shade to the brow bone and inner corner.
Shop The Glitters
I am giving this collection four out of five stars. I wish that I could make them work better with my hooded eyes, and I prefer to see no fall out. However, I like how they wear and hold up during the day, and the ease of use is a plus. Ultimately, these are a perfectly fine choice for affordable glitter liquid eyeshadow from the drugstore. Do you wear any type of liquid eyeshadow regularly? Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.

These remind me of the Stila liquid shadows. I was so sad my Into the Blue duochrome shade dried out😞
I’m curious to see how long these last before they dry out. That’s definitely an issue. My wet n wild liquid eyeshadows don’t last very long sadly.
One reason I don’t get that many liquid eyeshadows but they are so pretty✨💕
I use the elf mascara. I have only used the bronze bottle. Just today i received a compliment for my long, pretty and voluminous lashes. Hope you get some!
