I actually was not planning on doing an elf Mint Melt collection review, but I walked into my local Walmart and got mesmerized by the display. My senses escaped me and I bought everything, deciding to do a what the heck review. I even went on elf’s website and purchased the two items that Walmart does not carry. In this review I am swatching everything with full details, star ratings, and three full face of elf makeup looks. Let me just say, I cannot get over the mint tone that they selected. The entire packaging theme is so crisp and clean to the eye, and the vanilla mint scent is delicious. Do you want to hear more? Just keep reading!
elf Mint Melt Collection
Where to Purchase
The elf Mint Melt collection can be fully purchased on elf’s website. Walmart carries all of the items both online and in store, with the exception of the makeup bag and whipped face mask. The products are selling out from Walmart both online and in-store, and not all options can be shipped to home.
The Collection
Mint Melt Cooling Face Primer
The first item in this elf Mint Melt collection review is the Mint Melt Cooling Face Primer. It is a clear green gel with a lovely vanilla mint scent that is truly a treat to apply every day. It leaves the skin super sticky, not just tacky, for makeup application. To best apply this primer I warm it up in my fingers, then I spread it over the skin for even coverage, and I finally pat it into the skin. elf claims the patting and warmth of your fingers will melt it into the skin. Makeup does apply normally over top.
At the end of this blog post I have three full-face of elf makeup looks, where I try this primer with a different elf foundation. What I find is that this primer allows your foundation to do its thing. It will not harm the finish of your makeup. You can totally wear this primer alone and get a dewy effect, but when you apply your makeup, you will be left with the finish of your foundation and powder products. Really, it does not harm your makeup in any way. I see normal wear and tear happening, plus a bit of oil coming in around the nose. Otherwise, this is a great every day primer.
Coming up later I will discuss this primer again in comparison to the Jelly Pop Dew Primer.
Claims: This primer has a unique gel texture that grips your makeup in place while cooling the skin. It is suitable for all skin types, but it promotes dewy skin.

Mint Melt Eyeshadows
Second are the two Mint Melt Eyeshadows. These are additions to the Bite Size Eyeshadow line, which is hands-down some of my favorite eyeshadow from the drugstore. I already have a review blog post about them. The quality of these mini palettes is exactly the same as the other Bite Size Eyeshadows. The pigmentation is amazing, while the mattes are soft and creamy, and the shimmers and metallics glide on powerfully when dry. Of course, you can use them wet. I might see a shimmer or two on my nose when applying, which I can brush off with a duo fiber brush. Or, I might see some kick-up in the pan with the mattes. These facts do not bother me. The individual shades have no names.
Mint to Be features a range of minty tones, while Chocolate Mint features mints and rich, chocolatey browns. Trust me when I say that I own a ton of eyeshadow, and these palettes actually add new colors to my collection! Sometimes lighter shades, such as mint, do not pop on fair skin tones such as mine. I’m pleasantly surprised by how well these can be seen on my eyes.
Claims: Each palette contains a mixture of matte and shimmer shades that are ultra-pigmented with blendable color. The eyeshadows are smooth and creamy to apply.

Mint Melt Whipped Face Mask
Third is the Mint Melt Whipped Face Mask. This mask is definitely light, airy, and whipped. A little bit goes a long way to spread over the skin. The mint color matches the tube exactly! After 10 to 15 minutes it mostly dries down and is easy to remove. My skin does feel moisturized after use, so it works.
Claims: This whipped mask moisturizes the skin with a fresh, cooling effect. It can also soothe the skin. The scent is vanilla mint and is suitable for all skin types. You are to apply an even layer all over your clean face and neck. Allow the mask to sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Mint Melt No Budge Eyeshadow Sticks
Fourth are three Mint Melt No Budge Eyeshadow Sticks. elf already has an everyday line of No Budge Shadow Sticks, but I have not tried them yet. The main concern with eyeshadow sticks is that they will crease. I am happy to report that these dry down to feel like powder, and they last all day without creasing! The pigmentation is intense, and these are easy to blend with a brush or your finger because they are creamy and do not drag, tug, or pull. You have time to work with them until they dry into place. I cannot wait to try their main line!
Mint for You is a true, matte mint shade that pops really well on fair skin. Ice Creme is a metallic brown gold that is best reserved for highlighting the brow bone, inner corner, or to add dimension to your eye look. Melt With Me is a deep, matte chocolate brown.
Claims: These are one-swipe cream eyeshadow sticks that deliver minty, matte, and metallic colors that are long-wearing and crease resistant. You can wear them alone or under your favorite eye color. The formula is creamy and blendable for easy application. The twist-up design features a built-in sharpener.
Rating: ★★★★★
Mint Melt Makeup Bag
Fifth in the elf Mint Melt collection review is the Mint Melt Makeup Bag. This bag is huge! It easily can hold this entire collection with room to spare.
Rating: ★★★★★
Mint Melt Lip Plumping Glosses
Next up are four Mint Melt Lip Plumping Glosses. This is my first time trying this line, and I must admit their formula is sticky, but not necessarily heavy. These do not hurt your lips like typical plumping glosses. You will get a minty fresh sensation that lasts for about 15 minutes, but it is really the glossy shine that provides any plumping illusion.
A Hint of Mint appears to be clear mint in the tube, but it swatches and wears as a clear gloss. Mint Chocolate is a light brown, while Chocolate Chip is a darker brown, both with the most pigmentation of the group. Mint Sparkle is pretty much clear like A Hint of Mint, but it features mint glitters.
Claims: These are high-shine lip glosses that hydrate the lips and provide a plumping effect with one swipe. Your lips should appear fuller with a subtle wash of buildable color. The scent is vanilla mint.
Rating: ★★★★✩
Mint Melt Brush Trio
Here is the Mint Melt Brush Trio. Per typical elf brush set style, none of these brushes are new. The mint handles with white bristles are limited edition, but you can purchase each of these individually in the normal line. I love their brushes, and I already own each of these, as I can attest to the quality. The brushes in this set are all for the eyes, featuring the Contour, All-Over Eyeshadow, and Blending brushes.

Mint Melt Minty Fresh Cooling Cleanser
Continuing on, I have the Mint Melt Minty Fresh Cooling Cleanser. This cleanser dispenses as a soapy foam that you can lather over your wet face. As I always say with face cleansers, it cleans and does its job. It is as simple as that.
Claims: This is a gentle foam cleanser that removes dirt, impurities, and makeup, while leaving the skin feeling minty fresh. You are to massage it into wet skin in an upward motion and rinse thoroughly.
Rating: ★★★★★
Mint Melt Cleansing Cloud
The final item in the elf Mint Melt collection review is the Mint Melt Cleansing Cloud. This is a limited edition mint colored cloud, but you can buy the white or black one any time from the main line. I talk about the white one in my 21st elf haul. You can wet it to remove makeup, just like you would with those reusable makeup removing wipes. You can also use it with a face wash, such as the Mint Melt Minty Fresh Cooling Cleanser, or even to remove stubborn skincare masks. I like that you can throw it in the washing machine, or wash it by hand.
Claims: Just add water to easily remove dirt and makeup. It feels soft on the skin without scrubbing. You are to wet it with warm or cold water and gently wipe onto your skin. It can be rehydrated as needed, and is fully reusable and washable up to 100-200 times before it needs replacing. For heavy makeup, hold the Cloud on stubborn areas for a few seconds.

Mint Melt Cooling Face Primer vs Jelly Pop Dew Primer
If you thought the claims, packaging, and description of the Mint Melt Cooling Face Primer sound highly familiar, then you are correct! It is actually the Jelly Pop Dew Primer, except the color and scent has been changed. They are both 1.01 fl oz or 30 mL, and the ingredients are exactly the same, except for dye and scent.
I tested the Jelly Pop Dew Primer in a blog post, and I actually gave it a scathing review. However, the Mint Melt Cooling Face Primer works perfectly well for me! I do want to give Jelly Pop another chance. Perhaps it did not mesh with the foundation or other products that I tested it with. Here is the ingredient comparison:

Makeup Looks
To end this elf Mint Melt collection review, I am doing three full-face of elf makeup looks featuring this collection. Please note that I do not own any elf mascara, so I am substituting with what I have open from the drugstore right now. I also use the Nyx Glitter Primer with any eyeshadow that is not matte. All non-elf products are denoted with asterisks. The shimmers are always applied dry. I am even taking out my mint pony tail for the occasion!
Look #1: Mint to Be
This first makeup look is a full-on mint eye. I love how it really glows in the light. Since the lip gloss applies clear, I am lining the lips with a nude pencil to give some shape and definition.

To create this eye look at home, start by applying the matte mint shade to the crease, and bring it down below the eye. Next, apply the dark shimmer matte onto the eyelid over the Nyx Glitter Primer and onto the lower lash line. Then, apply the deep matte mint shade onto the outer corner, and connect it down onto the lower lash line. Finish the look by highlighting the brow bone and inner corner with the light metallic mint shade.
Look #2: Chocolate Mint
This second look makes me think about mint chocolate chip ice cream covered in fudge sauce. Mint makes a good pair with chocolate browns. The glossy chocolate lips give major melted chocolate vibes! It has been a long time since I used this OG Golden Bronzer, and I forgot how much I love it.

Next, apply the shimmer mint onto the eyelid, and also apply it to the lower lash line. Then, apply the dark brown matte shade onto the outer corner, and connect it down to the lower lash line. I finish the look by highlighting the brow bone and inner corner with the white gold shimmer shade.
Look #3: Made You Melt
In this final makeup look I am only using the eyeshadow sticks for eyeshadow, which is personally a first for me! Ice Creme is not the best shade for crease work, but I am making due with what I have. To blend, I recommend using smaller, denser brushes. I normally set my eye primer with powder, but I did not with these. I did not even apply any powder eyeshadow over top, yet the pigmentation is still strong. At the end of the day I saw that Mint for You transferred onto the crease slightly, but you have to look really close to see that.
- Mint Melt Cooling Face Primer
- All Day Stay Eyeshadow Primer
- Sheer Blurring Under Eye Primer
- Lock On Lip Primer
- Flawless Finish Foundation in Porcelain
- Flawless Concealer in Fair Rose
- Halo Glow Setting Powder in Light
- Lock On Liner and Brow Cream in Medium Brown
- Primer Infused Bronzer in Forever Sunkissed
- Blush Palette in Light
- Shimmer Highlighting Powder in Starlight Glow
- Hydrating Coconut Mist
- Mint Melt No Budge Eyeshadow in Mint For You, Melt With Me, and Ice Creme
- Expert Liquid Liner in Midnight
- Loreal Voluminous Primer**
- wet n wild Big Poppa Mascara in Blackest Black**
- Lip Liner & Blending Brush in Dark Brown
- Mint Melt Lip Plumping Gloss in Mint Chocolate
To create this eye look at home, start by applying Ice Creme in the crease, and it bring it down below the eye. Next, apply Mint for You onto the eyelid, and also apply it to the lower lash line. Then, apply Melt With Me onto the outer corner, and connect it down to the lower lash line. I finish the look by highlighting the brow bone and inner corner with the Highlighting HD Powder in Starlight Glow. Normally I would go for the Ice Creme stick for that, but it would blend right into the crease color.

Conclusion
In summary of this elf Mint Melt Collection review, I gave nearly everything five stars, and one item four stars. I swear I am not sponsored, but the quality of elf’s products keeps getting better and better, as evidenced by this collection. You will not go wrong with whatever you purchase, and your money will be wisely spent. I am most excited that these hues are made to flatter literally any skin tone. You can see how they pop on my fair skin, so just imagine how amazing they will look on medium to deep skin tones. The packaging will look great on your vanity, and the hues add something new to even a cluttered collection. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
