I am sharing six outfits focused on how to style a tulle skirt that will inspire you and finally give you the courage to buy a skirt. A key word here is definitely whimsical, and I will prove that to you not just with my look book, but with selections that you can shop to steal my style.
Look #1: Black tulle skirt
The first outfit in this how to style a tulle skirt look book is somewhat of a risk. In building this outfit in my mind I really had no way of knowing if a kimono, especially a longer one, would look right with a tulle skirt. This outfit is super bold, and you know what, I like it and it works.
A black tulle skirt screams attitude no matter what you do with it. The mesh kimono introduces us to some striking olives and corals with a palm print pattern. I am playing with those colors to pull the outfit together. The olive tank top gives me a base to work with.
You will notice the necklace has a wicker texture that makes for an added bonus. That is enough olive, so I am switching to coral for the handbag. An alternative handbag choice would be a black crochet bag. I like how this look features a balance of tight or form fitting properties along with loose pieces.

Look #2: White tulle skirt
Second is a white tulle skirt outfit. This is the skirt that initially throws me for a loop, but the end result is quite lovely. Dare I say this outfit is beach bound, but I am going with a blue and white stripe button-down blouse. The blouse is intentionally oversized, and even more so on my small frame. I am unbuttoning the last few buttons and tying the shirt in the front, then giving the bottom hem a slight roll. That helps me control the sizing of the shirt and really ups the elegance. I do not want to look messy!
A simple blue necklace is all we need here to bring the color scheme together. The handbag has a pearlized effect that gives this outfit that something something, much better than being solid white. White shoes are a play it safe choice.

Look #3: Pink tulle skirt
Third is a mauve pink tulle skirt outfit, and it matches the flowers on the peasant shirt pefectly! I like the loose bottom of the shirt, so it somewhat pains me to tuck it in, but the tucked look is much better. The skirt adds a lot of pink, so going black with the color pieces provides balance.
The handbag pops so well on the pink background, I cannot help but stare at it. You can wear the shirt over the shoulders if off-the-shoulder is not your jam. I am going with flower earrings to match the floral pattern, but all the open space on the neck also invites a necklace, if you feel so inclined. Black shoes also stand out below the skirt, which gives me an opportunity to wear these shoes that I have not used in a while.

Look #4: Gray tulle skirt
Fourth is an outfit with a lot of details. In learning that the kimono works in the black skirt outfit, I am trying it again here. First, we have a strappy tank top with silver stars. The silver compliments the gray skirt. Next, the kimono has stars on it as well with a variety of silver sequins. Then, the silver handbag puts the finishing touches on. I do not want everything to be gray or silver, so white shoes breaks the chain, but also ties into the white shirt. I really wanted silver star earrings but I could not find what I was looking for, so silver fringe hoops are a decent alternative.

I do my best to find similar pieces for you to shop. This outfit is a challenge! Believe me, I look high and low so that you do not have to. The Venus tank top may not have stars on it, but it looks awesome with either sequin kimono. Or, the star tank top pairs well with the star kimono. Both options are as close as you can get to my outfit.
Look #5: Pastel rainbow tulle skirt
This outfit is the one that puts the word whimsical in my mind, but really all of these outfits are. You can go with any shirt that matches a color in the skirt, so this pink blouse is a lucky find. It comes with the necklace, score! This blouse has a built-in tank top, so I tuck that into the skirt, then I let the loose pieces hang around me. I am not usually a fan of an un-tucked style, but this blouse works.
My shoe selection may be unexpected here, but I want to break up all the pink somehow. Nude shoes match everything without being an eyesore, but why not add some bows to keep up appearances with the whimsical theme? I am so into these plastic basket-like handbags all because they are unusual.

Look #6: Earth tone striped tulle skirt
The final outfit in this how to style a tulle skirt look book is incredibly close to my heart. This is an outfit of the day that I wore on a trip to a place that I consider to be my second home. I did a photoshoot there, and I am sharing all of the pictures with you, rather than only four views of the outfit. I really feel- and look like- a garden fairy, and I am loving that! With my pineapple accents, I will even say pineapple fairy.
This outfit is a great example of getting the look for less. You can wear any shirt that matches a color in the skirt itself to pull that out and draw attention to it. Since mustard is my favorite out of the bunch, mustard it is. Cognac pairs well with not just mustard but with earth tones, so I am opting for cognac sandals and crossbody. The pineapple earrings have a mustard shift visible in the sequins which ties them to the shirt, but really makes this outfit fun. The necklace is completely optional, but I like to be extra.
You can even say this outfit exemplifies how to dress down a tulle skirt. This outfit is perfect for shopping all day and enjoying breakfast out with the family. Flat shoes help with the causal look. Tulle skirts do not always have to mean dressy or over the top.
