Winter 2020/2021 Fashion Trends

1) Faux Leather

I am starting the winter 2020/2021 fashion trends off with my favorite trend- faux leather! We are seeing faux leather popping up in many formats, most commonly as leggings, joggers, and midi skirts. Faux leather has the magical ability to be dressed both up and down, while adding texture and a dash of attitude to any look.

2) Puff Sleeves

Second is puff sleeves. This goes without saying, but we usually see puff sleeves on dresses and shirts. Sure, you can opt for a boring, plain sleeve, but puffs are a fun way to add drama. The bigger the puff, the better! Statement puff sleeves are definitely something to explore this season.

3) Shackets

Third are shackets. Have you ever heard this term before? It is quite simply a shirt that resembles a jacket and can be worn for both purposes. Some even have hoods and drawstrings. Most shackets come in a plaid print, and are best for periods of transitional weather.

4) Tiger Print

Fourth is tiger print. This is a much needed breath of fresh air from other prints that will never go away, such as leopard. By nature, tiger print is super fierce. We are commonly seeing the print on sweaters, dresses, and midi skirts.

5) Bodycon Dresses

Just in time for the holidays, bodycon dresses are super trendy. Anything that is described as bodycon is form-fitting to the curves of your body. Consider this style as you get dressed up if you want to be on point.

6) Crocodile Handbags

Next up for winter 2020/2021 fashion trends are crocodile handbags. We are seeing mostly smaller bags with straps made out of metal or acrylic chains. Some bags have unusual shapes or dips. In general, most handbags this season are on the smaller side, and often present a pop of color.

7) Wide Leg Pants

Wide leg pants are also trending. As a small woman, I run away screaming from wide leg pants because they tend to look far too large on my legs. Those of average height can really appreciate these, whether you are looking for tailored professional pants, or the casual and comfy variety. They look great with a sweater, a blazer, or anything in between.

8) Ruffles

The quickest and easiest way to add playful, feminine flare to any outfit is to incorporate ruffles. You can find them adorning any article of clothing, whether that is a dress, a blouse, pants, so on and so forth. Just like with puff sleeves, the bigger the ruffles, the more drama they add.

9) Knee-High Boots

For a very long time fashion trends have been stuck on booties, or short, ankle boots. Finally, knee-high boots are having a moment, more so than over-the-knee boots. We are seeing these boots favor animal prints, such as snake. The materials are often glossy, slick, and shiny. Even slouchy styles are welcome. Knee-high boots a great way to balance out a shorter dress, or to layer up over leggings or tights.

10) Colors

As I always do, I am ending the winter 2020/2021 fashion trends with a color palette. This season, it is about the three N’s: natural, neutral, and nude. We are seeing shades of black, gray, white, and brown trending. This is awesome because these colors are easy to mix and match and ultimately style with, and they are most likely a common theme in your closet already. White, ivory, and cream are especially a big deal right now, which will enable your style to be bright and fresh.

Conclusion

We are now at the end of this top 10 list of winter 2020/2021 fashion trends. I am most excited for faux leather. The color palette is highly intriguing for how manageable and graspable it is. Tiger print is new to explore, and you may have learned the term “shacket” for the first time in your life. Other trends may not top your list this time around. Wide leg pants are not flattering on me, and I can understand how bodycon dresses may not be for everyone. The key here is to utilize your closet to the fullest and to shop with confidence. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
